Is there an Arilas wine festival this year ?  2006 looked like fun

dimitris

Hello all loyal members of our Arillas,!
Allthough it is not me who is responsible of that . it seem that It will have to be me ( again) to anounce the dates of these Years annual "WINE FESTIVAL".
Due to the recent and sudden anouncement of the elections in Greece on Sunday  the 17th of September 2007 ( the day that the winefestival was due to take place) the final dates of out festival will be the 8th and 9th September 2007
Many of you have been asking me over the last year for the exact dates, but i have never been able to get a propper answer as the Arillas curtural organisation who is responsible for the seting up and arranging it, always anounce the dates a couple of weeks before the final date. This is due to the time that the vine harvest and the grapes beein ready to be collected as well as the weather contitions and many other smaller isues that could occur.
We have to remember that the people who are members of this team are not involved with the touristic activities and are not aware that many of you would have liked to book even a year before for your holidays in order not to miss it.
Never the less, it is a Greek festival on a Greek time (GMT time)  (greek maybe time)

Sorry to hear the dates. We do not arrive until the 18th. Will you keep some wine for us please? It's one of the best reasons for living; my opinion and I am standing by it!!

Peckedhen

OH NO!!

We really thought that that, this year, for the first time,  we'd timed it right!!

Never mind...it's a good excuse to try again next September.

Thanks for letting us know Dimitris - love the Greek Maybe Time. ;)  :D

Well this is sad news indeed. We were looking forward to seeing all the local festivities but I quess we will just have to have a festival of our own. Viv

This is really good news for us, thank you Dimitris.  :-)

We're enjoying some wine with our meal now. My wife has made a 'Greek Style' salad for dinner.

The Wine Festival will be a fitting end to our holiday in Arillas.  :-)

That is, provided Libra Holidays do not send us somewhere else, when we arrive on September the 4th!!!

vivian

You lucky bug--r James, what a great way to finish your holiday with a local celebration.

Just dont tell us about it when you get back, Im going green here Viv

I don't believe it vivian.!!!

You're bonking me on the head just out of a wine envy??  ;-)

I'll take pictures of it, and post them on the Forum, just for you eh?  ;-)

I guess if I can't be there the next best thing is having a first hand report of it with plenty of photo's so I can see what I missed. Hope your hangover dosent hurt to much. lol Viv

Hi

It seems only the minority are going to enjoy the wine festival this year. For once I'm glad to be part of the minority! Cheers

Hello It is me again!!
Last night one of the members of the Arillas Cultural Organization came to eat  with us.
He mentioned that definately ( but not yet officialy said) the wine festival has to be canceled due to the bad situation with the fires in mainland Greece.
After this catastrophic situation that our country is going through, there is not point of celebrating anything until the pain is away.
A fiew other similar events were canceled last weekend for the same reason.

Hi Dimitris, I cant say im surprised, it is a tragic situation and we can only hope and pray that the fires are soon out and that somehow people can put there lives back together. It made me cry yesturday when the mother and babies were buried and because they were trying to get away and then with the fire not touching the house. What more needs saying I just dont know. Viv
