Hello everyone again!!
I'll try to add a new membergroup for our forum.
This will be the Arillas Regular visitors group , which means that I need your help in order to localise everyone,
So enyone who has been to Arillas for more than 4 times in the last 100years can reply on this topic telling us the year of his/her/their first visit and (if they remember) how many times they have been to Arillas until today.
I have already added the label on some of you that I know ( for experimental use!!) that you have been coming over the years.
In the future We are going to have a word with the local council in order to have an official award to the people that have honoured us with the most visits over the years.
Take care,
Dimitris
That counts me out then!
Aww I'm one visit off being in the club :'(
My visits to Arillas were always on my days off when I worked in Corfu, so do they count or is this just for holiday makers? This year it is actually my first holiday there.
I have never thought of your case,
Why not?
We do not have to play with words and sentences.
You have been to Arillas more than 4 times within a fiew years so well donne!
Do you remember how may times and when your first time was?
It will be nice to see everyone's reccords.

Yes! but you are a beautiful Arillas expert.!!
It will only take a couple of more years untill you can join this membergroup
except if you do a couple of quick visits this year :)
cheers,
Dimitris
Not sure if that i would apply for the "Regular Visitor" group.
First came to Arillas in June 2005 for 2 weeks and then for 1 week in July 2005.
Last year 1 night in Arillas and this year 1 night in Arillas and ate in broklis ;) ;) haha!!
Hi dimitries,,good idea..
First visit May 2001..stayed at the Makris (before the pool( thought we had landed in
No Mans Land) took until the third day before we realised that we had stumbled on a real Gem. We returned in Oct 2001 & have returned twice a year ever since & long may it continue.( yes we are back again sept/oct)....
Kes
Hi Dimitri, Roger and myself have been coming to Arillas since 1991, will have to think how many times we have been back since, but we are returning soon ;) Regards Suzanne ;)
Hi Dimitris
I have been coming to Arillas since 1985 as follows:
1985, then continuiously 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 (twice), 2006, and we will be there in July 2007.
Amanda
Yipee its working!!
Right, we first discovered Arillas in 1995 when our eldest son was just one. We have been back every year apart from when we had the twins in 1999 so I believe that makes this year our 11th! wow. Our 'baby' is now 12. Jesus, how time flies.
We have stayed at The Kaloudis (twice)
Marina Apts
Tria Adelphia
Bakery
Irene Villas
Charises(up the hill from Mona's Boutique)
Marinaki last few years
9th july will be my 5th visit in 3yrs
I guess that will count me in then... This year will be our 16th visit since 1991
Gosh! what a question? what do you reckon Dimitris? I remember holding a certain young man in my arm's whilst Ma worked in the kitchen and before that? well only maybe half the resort as it stands today, please do not tell me the year I will feel Old!!! Ha. ha. Do Alan & I qualify?
Hello Dimitris,
I was a regular visitor on my days off and sometimes when I delivered cars there for customers during summers 1992 and 1993. First time must of been May 1992 on a day off, which I spend on the beach with friends.
The total number of times I visited Arillas must be about 40. The beach was just heaven sent piece of paradise back then and I trust it still is. Thank you for including me to this group :)
We first visited in 1993 I think. It was the summer before Yiannis Gianniotis was born. Since then we have been back 6 times. We will be there next week for 3 weeks, and my friend and I will return again in September. The first time we visited, George from the marina hotel ran a minibus up and down the village for people who were staying at Tria Adelphia and other properties up there. Does anyone else remember that?
I only remember everyone, run everyone up and down the "hill" but the reeds were still on the beach, no paving or lighting, but the people are still the same FANTASTIC!
I first visited Corfu in 1967 on an educational (!) school cruise. We were meant to go to the Holy Land but because of the war there, we were diverted to the Greek Islands. I returned as an impoverished 19 year old student and camped in Dassia for three weeks next door to the Club Meditarranee....I remember sneaking through a hole in the hedge and scrounging meals there....
I discovered Arillas by chance in 1993, and have been back every year since except 1994, sometimes 3 or 4 times a year. My kids grew up there and we all regard it as our second home. I think I've been about 25 times in all, mostly staying at the Rainbow with Jimmy and Spiro and family, all of whom have become good friends. I am very honoured that they now describe me as one of the family. I spent my 50th birthday there, with a memorable meal at Brouklis (thank you Dimitri).
Thankfully not too much has changed over the years. The Captains Bar appeared a few years ago, the Hotel Marvellous was completely overgrown for years and look at it now. The supermarket next door to that has opened....and closed. The white buildings opposite Brouklis have always been there and were never used until one shop opened a couple of years ago. The Pizzareia used to be called Acropylis....we borrowed orange tablecloths from there one year to use for towels when we went skinny dipping at midnight.... The Chinese restaurant has opened and closed and of course Ina's shop next door. There was a supermarket right next to the Malibu... As has already been said.....no Horizon or Mirage and in those days, Thalassa was called the Lambarda. The Marinaki pool was called the Flamingo.....
What never changes is the warmth and friendship of all the locals. People often ask me why on earth I keep going back to the same place...why not try somewhere different? Only one answer....when you have found perfection, why look elsewhere? Our bit of paradise. I already have it in my will that my ashes are to be scattered on the beach so I will be there for ever.....
I really enjoyed reading that Sandy... it came to my mind it was like the sea going back and forth on the beach with all the changes over the years in Arillas, with the restaurants closing and reopening!
It sounds like so many people view revisiting Arillas as going "home" and I agree with you that if you have found somewhere perfect then why go elsewhere. Its safe, a happy and friendly place and truly relaxing, you dont need anything else.
Thanks Dimitris! It would be nice to return as often as your "regular visitors". We have 9 days to go before we visit again.. (well it is 9 if you dont count today!!! LOL)
Hi Dimitris,
After first visit to Corfu in 1985, found Arillas in 1997, then back in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006, staying at Galini, Kokinos, taverna next-door to Kokinos, & Marina apartments, all excellent.
Whatever changes, the warmth of the Arillas people remains as a rival to that of the sun.
Long may it be so!
Sandy, that reminded me of so many things that i had forgotten!!! I think it must be my age!!!!
We have stayed at
1 Once at Kokkinos, 2 Twice at Makris,3 three times at Leonedis,4 once at Galini, twice at the Horizon,5 Three times at the Alexandros over a period of the last 15 years i think.Like Sandy we say we are at home now in fact we have called Corfu home for years beside Arillas we have been to Benites,St George both north and south and about 5 times to Roda, but stopped going there when it started to get busy.Arillas was the last place my in laws came to before they stopped holidaying and we have also brought friends once who so fell in love we Greece that one of them would go for about 3 months at at time(Kaliminos though).Like Sandy we have seen quite a few changes, but not a lot of building.
Like many people on holiday we always used to lie on the beach discussing and wishing that we could have our own place in the sun. Never having had a bad holiday meant that every destination we visited was up for discussion on the beach!
Finally we were able to put the wheels in motion. After a few reco' trips to other destinations we came to a decision based on our visits to the Mainland and Islands that Greece was our No.1 choice. After much thought we decided on Corfu, logistically it gave us the most options for physically getting there. Unfortunately it is one of the more expensive locations in Greece to purchase property.
We were not too fussy as to where we were based as we would be touring around reminding ourselves of the resorts and villages we had visited many years previous. A last minute cheapie deal gave us the choice of Ag.Georgios South or Arillas. We plumped for Arillas, although with some trepidation as 4 years ago there was very little information available about Arillas, the photos we could find were hardly encouraging! This fledgling website was our only source of information. (Well done Sandy, Maggie, etc...for a long time you all sure managed to keep your favourite place a well preserved secret!)
We arrived at the Mathraki Apartments and the following day we started our search armed with the schedules which I had printed off at home.
At this point we were really only looking for a suitable location, but by the end of our first week we were quite disheartened with the way things were going. Mulling things over one evening in Graziellas, we were watching the sunsetting when it suddenly dawned on us that we had fallen for Arillas! Unwittingly to us, during the previous 7 days, crafty Arillas had been quietly spinning it's web over us!
We went back to the apartment and dumped the remaining schedules in the bin, not knowing that the difficult part was about to begin...
As little as 4 years ago there were very few Estate agents in Corfu, property for sale in Arillas was even rarer.
Nevertheless after a few fruitless visits (many tales to tell there!) we eventually found what we were looking for.
4 years later we have visited 13 times, 21 weeks in total. For most of these visits we stayed in the Mathraki. We have also stayed in Annas, The Tria Adelphia, Thomas Bungalows and the Galini.
Every year we introduce more of our family and friends to Arillas...and yes just like the rest of us here on this forum it has managed to work it's magic on them too.

We have stayed at Makris twice, Leonidas twice & this year will be staying at Tria Adelphia for the second time, considering we spend most of our time enjoying the great company at the Tria Adelphia it makes sense to stay there.
First went to Arillas on a cheap last minute deal & have not thought about going anywhere else since.
Great place, great company, great food, great great great!!!
2 more sleeps,
Carol2
Hi Dimitris. Lovely idea. 9 th time in Arillas coming soon! 2nd time this year. Was in Arillas 3 times last year. Love to all.
If Carol2 has been 6 times, then I've counted wrong, cos we met them on our 3rd visit, which was their 1st. (confused?) Since then, we have only missed 1 of the hols, cos we went somewhere else!!!So we've been 7 times.... (lets hope I can count now.)duuuhhh!
when visiting corfu all that went before is of no significance, only being there counts! but do we? NO!! we just enjoy. ha.ha.

I think that is all of them
We are coming back home for 2 weeks on 17th September staying at Tria Adelphia
Dimitris, Mary said can you get her raw white cabbage ready and whatever you like for me
Love to all in Arillas, Mick
Dimitris, we love this. It's great to have the label (really proud) and great to read everyones story. We first visited in July 1999 and fell in love with the place immediately. Been back twice a year ever since with the exception of one year when only visited once and got withdrawl symptoms! Stayed at Marina many times, hotel and apartments, Kaloudis of course, with you (which was great) and at Arillas Bay. This year Bardis Sun for first time and loved it as you know. We dream of one day living there. 12 weeks tomorrow we will be back. Can't wait. : )
Hi all
A correction to my earlier visit.
1992 was what is now the Sea Breeze bar and kitchen
1993 was what is now Arillas Bay
ta ta for now, Mick
Believe it or not my first visit was only in March 2006 when my Mum moved out to join you, since then I have been 7 times and will be averaging about 5-7 times per year spread out over Summer and Winter, I suppose I do have an unfair advantage with having family there but it will always be the prefect place for me to get away from the stresses here, especially in winter.
Joe
Hi Joe
I wish I had Arillas 'on tap' like you.
Amanda
It is a nice feeling, especially now I dont need to take anything with me so if there is room on a friday flight I can just hop on it and go straight there after work.
How amazing is that. Weekends in Arillas. I am so jealous. We saw you in Thalassa whilst you were there in May. I was going to say hello but realised that you wouldn't know me from Adam and loads of people in the resort were saying, "he's here". I thought I ought to give you some peace and not act like a stalker. What I wanted to say was that I love your posts. You are so full of information and the Christmas Day video was fantastic. It kept me going in the cold winter months and I loved your report on Mon Amour. Keep it up Joe. I am now seriously considering a career in the travel industry as you have just hit on the biggest perk of all. Well done. Best Regards, Wendy.
I like that "he's here"... sounds like a celebrity... Brilliant eh Joe?
It would have been nice to see you but as I hadn't been since Christmas I was so busy catching up with my Mum I didn't really notice anyone around me. Where were you sat, the Thalassa wasn't busy when we were there as it was late? The food was out of this world.
My other haunt was the Malibu bar, I loved sitting in there in the afternoons talking to (argh I'm so bad for names) who is the brother of Nikos from the Mirage.
Eeek - celebrity no way :-( I'm actually quite shy in real life.
I know how you feel, as I am too, just a tad self conscious. Last year I was embarassed when people recognised me, its the hair! I was tempted to change the colour this year.

People might think you were Lozicle if you changed your hair colour, Blondegirl...
I wondered if that was why you took your picture off your profile so that you wouldn't get recognised ;).

will it cover my grey? getting fed up with the 4 week thing! Blue is cool, it is nearer my natural colour nowadays! YES I admit it!!!!
Well, how did you guess! I have got caught out... I have had green hair before but it wasnt on purpose... just the way it turned out... oh and lilac!
I know blue will go with my eyes but its sooo not my colour!
Hehe the first time we went to arillas I had green hair (of my own choosing :P) and then we went back a few months later and it was blue. The first thing dimitris said when I walked in to the taverna was "ahh new hair" hehe.
It is true though - blue hair makes my eyes lok even bluer lol

In all honesty we do have some of the best perks of any industry (almost makes up for the lousy wage). Discounts apply across the boards from flights to Holidays to Hotels. Ones I have seen recently are:
£99 return flights Heathrow-New York, all taxes included
£8 per night ultra all-inclusive resort in Cancun
£300 return to New Zealand!!!!!!!!!!
Free airport parking and travel insurance
but of course the ability to get out to see my Mum is the most important one, I think getting the job with Thomas Cook was the final push she needed to move out there knowing I could get out quite regularly.

Us mums are all the same Joe, it does not matter what age our kids are we still need to make sure they are all sorted before we can move on! Which is unlike you kids who fly the nest without a backward glance...but hey that's the way it should be :-)
Eileenxx
Stop it now Joe, youre making everyone jealous, £99 to NY, my goodness!!
That's lovely, the main thing being to get to see your Mum regularly. Now I really am impressed with you. I hope she reads this, she'll be really proud.
You are right about Thalassa, the food is amazing. We kept going back, we just couldn't resist trying another dish off the menu, then another, and so on!
You were sat at the back near the serving hatch. With your back to the rear plastic door, if my memory serves me right. We were the next row along and a table in front. You wouldn't have a clue I am sure.
Next time we will definitely say hi.
Best Regards, Wendy.
Finding Arillas was all down to my obsession with sport!! Roy and I watched wall to wall Olympics from Athens in August 2004 and decided it would be a good place to visit. Obviously other people had the same idea as we had a terrible time trawling the internet and travel agents with no success. Finally we remembered a leaflet that had come with the bank statement and phoned the number. Turned out to be Thomas Cook who had just taken on two properties in Arillas that weren't in the brochures - the choice was Hotel Marvellous "with a pool" or Hotel Akti Arilla "without a pool". With Thomas Cook still on the phone, Roy phoned me on his mobile and we chose the Marvel(lous).
I am a terrible "need to know" person and searched the net for anything I could find about Arillas, instantly finding the website and reading all there was. We had many friends who had been visiting Greece (usually always the same place) for years and years, but somehow their enthusiasm and the Shirley Valentine appeal had never quite won me over. To be absolutely honest I think it was the "paper in the bin and not down the loo" that left me a little non-plussed!!
We had a late night flight and a THREE HOUR coach trip in the dark and finally, the rep having disembarked in Sidari leaving us sitting alone on the 42 seater, we arrived at the Marvellous at around 6am. We fell into bed with "breakfast finishes at 10am" ringing in our ears! And this is how the obsession with Arillas began in September 2004!
As soon as we got home we booked two more holidays at the Marvel in 2005, enthusing some friends sufficiently for them to join us on one. We managed to squeeze in another visit in 2005 and stayed the very last week of the season at Brouklis. 2006 took us to Irene Villas for two weeks in June and two weeks at the Bardis Sun Studios in August. 2007 has produced a short visit in February for a certain wedding and the two weeks we have just had at Irene Villas with a final visit booked for Irene Villas in September. A total of 9 visits in 36 months, but it feels more like home than home and there isn't a day that goes by without my longing to be back.
I took a photo of the view from the balcony at Irene Villas last Friday and, as I sit facing the window at work, I stuck a very large copy of the photo on the window and now I can imagine I am sitting on the balcony doing my work on the computer!!
The world is a big place and must contain many morsels of paradise, but I need look no further. I have fallen truly, madly, deeply in love with the place and people of Arillas!
Fiona
That was a lovely post Fiona, i really like the idea of sticking a copy of the picture up so you can imagine youre there!!

Hi Dimitris,
Sandy "dragged" mysef and my daughter to Arillas six months after my husband died in 2003 - so my first visit was August 2003 - wasn't sure whether or not I liked it so decided to give it another try in ............ May 04, August 04, Oct 04, May 05,June 05, August 05, October 05, May 06, June 06, August 06, October 06, May 07! Think I can say now - I love it!!!!!
Next visit will be in August - and :
Sandy - it was the best thing you ever did for me x
Welcome M n M. Enjoy, and I`m sure you`ll find all the info you need on here.
SIX times for us and hopefully seven if we can get back before the end of the season.
We only wish we had found it earlier. We have visited Corfu nearly every year since 1986.
Janina
We first visited Arilas in 1996 for two weeks returning 1999, 2000 and 2001 for two weeks in June
Since 2002 we have managed to return to Arilas twice each year June for four weeks and September for two weeks, however this year we had 3 weeks in June and will return 24th August for 4 weeks
We have made some lovely friends and never get tired of the beach the scenery and the walks to Afionas or Agios Stefanos, but most of all we love the family that look after us , the Bardis family at the Gratziella
As we are coming in 13 days time for our 4th visit do we qualify!!!! Might just come again in the autumn to make sure we can join the club lol
We first came to Corfu in 1990 and stayed in Agios Stefanos, I remember climbing the hill with two reluctant toddlers and looking down onto Arillas beach.
However, it was in 2004 that we took a cheap, last minute, 'allocated on arrival' holiday. We had a long, night time coach transfer and decided that we would sleep one night where ever we ended up and then look for somewhere we liked. We woke to find that we were in a front room in The Hotel Marina. The view blew us away, the owners were soo friendly, we explored Arillas and have never looked elsewhere since!!
First came to Corfu in 1999 -Sidari - oops(I worked at T Cook so it was a sort of freebie!!) Hubby was feeling energetic one day so he left me by the pool and decided to go for a "walk" and ended up in Arillas!! So later we drove to Arillas and by chance met Kostas (Supermarket) who had 2 brand new apartments. We have stayed with Kostas every May and September since. What more can I say - wonderful place wonderful people.
I've been six times in the last 2 years. I first came to Arillas when I was made redundant and a friend was already going and said why don't I come along too. We stayed at the Horizon where it was Marinos' birthday on the first night. I got a contact lens stuck in my eye and never looked back! I now seem to have a part time job as the Horizon party DJ.
Nick
we have stayed in Arillas 10 of the last thirteen years ,1st year in the Makris then
Tria Adelphia every year after (would'nt stay anywhere else now) Phil & Eleni make
us feel so welcome its like home from home.
Ron & Ali Devonshire.
Hi Dimitris
This year will be our 11th consecutive visit to Arillas - first came in July 1997 and have always stayed at Kaloudis and enjoyed meals at all the tavernas. Can't wait for the 27th July to see all the friends we have made in that time. Think we must qualify as regular vistors now?
Love Jen n Mike
I first visted Arillas with my parents in 1991. Since then I think I must have been back around 12 times, 4 of those with my boyfriend in the last few years. When you grow up with a particular holiday resort I think it always stays with you and, while we enjoy trying new and faraway places Arillas is always the place we return to for a good long relaxing holiday! With the folks out there now I suspect my number of visits will only be on the up (September already booked and Christmas in the planning)!
Fran
Ah 1991!!! - Haven't we got you on a DVD somewhere?? Visiting in September and planning Christmas already - Do they know??
Probably OK I 'spose - As long as you get those bits in the suitcase that they need.

This will be my wife Pat and my eleventh year in arillas,we came on an allocation on arrival with Thomson holidays and were fortunate enough to be staying at the kaloudis, and we have been back there ever since, helen and billy roula and christos make you so welcome, and are wonderful people who cannot do enough for you. But we fell in love with arillas because of the people the atmosphere a place you can truly relax and enjoy. We have had some wonderful times there and we will be going in September this year again to the kaloudis, and again next May this time with our grandchildren, Louis and Amelia and introducing them to the magic of arillas

Hi everyone....
Not quite sure how to get all the gadgets and gizmos working yet... however, I think I may just be able to sneak into the "Regular Visitor Group"....
We first came in 1985..... we have visited every year since, somtimes 3 times a year.... I know... it is a long time... but Arillas just steals your heart!
Our children were only 2 & 4 back then and they now travel to Arillas with their partners, our youngest one is there NOW.... hopefully she will remember to come home this time.... last summer, her week away grew into 3 months!
We have taken our children, mothers, grandchildren and friends to Arillas and I am happy to say that we will be moving close to Arillas in October this year.... do I qualify? lol
I think you might JUST lol, glad roof is now on makes it look almost ready. Love Viv
Lol ... hi Viv!
the windows and doors will be in place in the next 5 weeks.... Chris will have to drag me home kicking and screaming in August!
Arillas lover since the summer of `85!
Angie Redshoes
Where part of nearby Arillas are you moving to??
Negg
Hello Negg
We are about a 10 min drive away from Arillas in Gavrades, close to Rachtades.
That sounds really good Angie. I don't know Gavrades but certainly know Rachtades as we looked at a place there. Anywhere in the that area looks a good place to be. Your place isn't, sort off, perched up on the right hand side as you look from the Kafenio/Taverna in Kavadaddes is it. Only ask as I been having a chat/drink with a builder who's doing a few things up there.
( I just might be nosey one day and have a peek ) - It's the Greek thing to do !!
More local Greeks know the layout of our house better than we do.!
Negg
Sorry all - Gone off thread here.
Ha ha Negg.... it most certainly is the Greek thing to do!
That does sound like our area... you will have to forgive me but I suffer from directional dyslexia.... yes I did make that up... but it is soooooo apt!
Our house is up on the right, if it is the one you mean, you will also notice the pool which has now been concreted, a Greek chap by the name of Phillipe owns the land behind us... On the corner, a bit further down on to the main road there is a rusted out old opal ( or something.... I am not very good with cars either!) If that is the one you are reffering to, you are most welcome to have a good old Greek nosey!
See Eggy, I told you it wouldnt be long before you got into the Greek way of live, hehe. Viv
Had my first visit 9/10/06 coming back six weeks today and again in may next year so will only be one visit of a regular lol!!! Fab place can't wait will see you on 28th August Dimitris already booked my table at the brouklis. http://42%20days%20to%20go%20sun%20surf%20and%20relaxation
We first visited Arillas in 2003 when we had a last minute deal to Kokinos, we've been back ever since. 2nd visit Nikos, 3rd Visit Alexandros and this year Bardis Sun.
Been coming to Corfu ever since May 1993 when we stayed in Moraitika where we got engaged, so this beautiful isle holds many a warm place in our hearts.
Hi

hi, coming up to our 4th visit .been every year since 2004 and hop to become a member of the club. we will arive on the 14th of september and cant wait, see you sooooon!
Gary:)
Ann and I first came to Arillas in 1994 and have been every year since, except 2005 when Nichola the yougest daughter got married. We have more than made up for that though by coming twice in quite a few years. I estimate that we have been for at least 16 times that I can remember and often for 3 weeks at a time. We have stayed predominantly at Rainbow but also had happy stays at Tria Delphia, Peryy's and Jimmy's, and Mirage. Coming back in 2008 hopefully twice . Booking for May and then hopefully October to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.
John
been coming since 2002 with a year off in 2004 when we had adisastrous holiday in Portugal!!
Hi Paul and I first came to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary, the lads at Rainbow were so good that we returned every year since - now been married 9 yrs this year. With my husbands 50th birthday also that will mean that this October will be visit No 9 heres to many more!
Well done you. I wish you all the best. Have a great time.
Do I qualify to become a regular visitor ?
2005 Kaloudis Apts
2006 Anna Studios
2007 Bardis Sun
2007 Bardis Sun
Thanks
John
Well, there is a pattern forming John.
Hi Lindypops,
You have a point, already looking at twice again next year. Wish I could go as much as you.
John
I`m off soon!
We are halfway there. Got back to cold UK last Monday after second stay in arillas. 2006 at Jimmy & Perrys, 2007 at Nafsika & have just booked today to return in 2008 to stay at Nafsika again. Had a fabulous time. We have 2 teenagers (15yrs & 16yrs) who love it too & it was due to my daughters constant arm twisting this week that we are coming again next year!
Karen
Just to let you know we have been coming for 10 years and always stayed at Bardis Sun with Poppy and Spiros. We will be coming on the 17th September for our 8th visit.
Looking forward to seeing you all again.
Hi Anne, we go to Bardis 10th for 2 weeks so we will see you there. W n S ; o )
Thats great look forward to meeting you. Anne
When we arrive on Friday it will be our 4th visit staying in Arillas. So finally we will qualify!
Yes I know it seems mad. We have built a villa somewhere we have only been a handful of times but we knew what we were looking for and found it right there after a fairly exhaustive search that started out with a World Atlas and a blank sheet of paper.
I had been to Cofu twice in the 80's and always remembered how especially beautiful it was.
During our first few visits visits looking for a plot we were based in and around Corfu town. We spent a long time driving around the Island and originally as we fell in love with the beautiful bay at Ag. Georgios but rapidly found that Arillas had so much more to offer and the location gave access to 3 beautiful beaches.
Two years ago we found a plot that eventually fell through near Eileens, Villa Linakis. Thanks to her we found a plot last May. The rest is history!
We look forward to coming back each holiday. We love the place, the food, the climate and the people have always made us feel very welcome.
Yup we are Arillas Addicts. Glad to join the club!
I guess Jen and I have just qualified. We got back to England yesterday after our fourth visit. We stayed at Elena Studios, Alecos Sgouros Studios twice and Kaloudis.
Will see you all next July, or earlier if we can manage it.
Phil and Jenny
Glad you had a good time. Roll on 2008 eh?
Do we also qualify, been to kaloudis four times. 2005, 2006, 2007, 2007...thanks riggers....
Thanks Lindypops. And yes - roll on 2008.
Met eggy in the Cocnut two days on the trot. He called us "veterans" I suppose we are in our own sweet way. Will look out for you next year to buy you a drink. And we are halfway through planning our retirement move to our favourite place in the world.
Arillas - "you make me feel brand new..."
philandjen
Of course you do riggers.
Eggy in Coconut! 2 days! He`s lovely though, isn`t he. He`s got a nice new av. Look f/ward to meeting you in Arillas. Retirement? What will you be looking to do? Wish I was there now. Oh yes, need some mules from Ina`s, but will have to wait. Speak soon.
Been coming here since youngest son had just turned 2, he is now 12. We started off in Nafsika for a few years, progressed to Jimmy and Perrys and the last 2 summers we have been to Alexandros. Always within wobbling distance of the Rainbow! We missed a couple of years when we felt our children thought Greece was Arillas full stop, so we tried to broaden their horizons and went to the Pelion Peninsula. A fantastic place, breathtakingly beautiful, but is no where near as friendly as Arillas. So we returned!
first visit in 97 at rainbow,2nd visit in 2001 at rainbow,3rd at tria adelphi in 2003 and 4th in 2007 at perry&jimmys,5th will be at alexs in june08 ,cant wait to get back, and look forward to seeing you dimitris and your lovely family, and cant wait to taste your sisters spit roast lamb...untill then ...yammas
Dimitris
Hi - just 2 months and I'll be back - and October this year. This regular visitor group is a great idea. It's like being part of a big family - have lost track of how many times I've been now, but the beauty of Arillas is what Perry (Coconut Bar) said to me last year - "We don't look on you as a customer anymore, we look on you as a friend"
Hope Llitsa & baby are OK, also Mama.
May!! Mike
Mikeymikey, hello. Do you remember me, and we last spoke in Brouklis, I think? You`ll soon have that great tan back. Bfn.
We're excited to be returning to Arillas this June for our 4th visit.
We've stayed for a fortnight each June since 2005 (newcomers really!), each time at the fabulous Marvel Hotel.
Our flights have recently been changed to 23rd June, so we'll be arriving just over a week later than usual, but we will hope to catch up with the friends we have made over the past few years.
Hi Dimitris nearly been enough times to a regular visitor. My husband and I have been on hols there the last 3 years and are returning in July for our last hols in Arillas. In Sept 08 we are moving out with our 2 kids, so do we count yet? Can't wait for July need some sanity!!!
welcome lou - another Arillas Addict
Our forum isn't the real thing but well worth dreaming on....
We are all so envious of you having made the choice to do it. Jen and me are struggling to work it all out. We have to worry about Sandy's bench, Eggy's pug, Dimitris bebis, Filipos finances, Anna's baccon and tomatoes....
We'll get there one day.
Enjoy your new life in our favourite place in the world!
loved reading your posts - please keep them coming
Phil
Hey up
Read the site everyday but very rarely do a post, but, have to confess we are Arillas mad. This will be our fifth time, places stayed Kokinos x 2, Makris and Nikos. This year it is Kokinos again as it holds loads of good memories.
I was trying to think what is my favourite thing about Arillas but have decided it is the whole thing.....the people, the food, well just everything.
regards to all
Beachbum
Oy yes! the beach, the beer, the sun and no work!
Not been quite enough yet to class as regular visitor but here goes, came in 2005 and stayed at Arillas Bay, 2006 Dionysus 2, 2007 Dionysus 2 and back again in September .. guess were we are staying..Dionysus 2. And judging by our conversation regarding holidays we will be back again next year, the year after, the year after that.....we are hooked and we can only afford one holiday a year so we would hate to miss out on Arillas. see you there.
Hiya Beachbum, so you love the whole thing eh, just like the rest of us then and this is your fifth time. We go on 25th July staying at Kaloudis as usual for 2weeks, beachbum this will be our 25th consecutive year at Arillas, maybe a record .......i dont know, all i do know we love the place the people the sun the beach the atmosphere well everything. Originally i wanted to go to Torremelinos but couldnt spell it at the time but i could spell Arillas (joke) so thats where we ended up and have been going every year since. So like you we can't wait to see all our old friends and we always make new ones, so roll on 25th July.
Have a great holiday beachbum ok.
Alan.
Alan, you must make this year a Silver Celebration then if its your 25th year! That must be a record! You must have seen so many changes over the years.
Alan, I'm speechless. I so wish Jen and me had found Arillas 25 years ago. Like I said to Eileen on another thread, we would never have left. You must have seen so much there. We are green with envy, but we both think you deserve the highest accolade from our forum community - gold medal doesn't seem enough. Lifetime Achievement Award Dimitris?
best wishes
Phil
I first came to Arillas in September 2004, by accident when I phoned Teletext holidays looking to visit Halkidiki and they offered Arillas, which I have fallen in love with. I have been back 4 times since and I am coming back here on my own in 4 weeks time
Cheers
Mary
Hiya Mary, always nice to see people coming back to Arillas, if you are there the same time as us then come say hello ok, hope you keep coming as long as we have. We always stay at Kaloudis village and we will be there on the 25th July until August 8th. If you are there at a different time to us then im sure as before you will have a wonderful holiday.........have fun.
Alan
First discovered Arillas August 1987. Did not come back again until July 2005 again in 2006 and 2007 and waiting for July 2008. Hope my holiday in Arillas goes as slowly!!
When can i have my regular visitor icon?
Annie
Hi everyone 1st went to arillas in 1998
have also been 1999 2001 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007
and cant wait till june 2008 9th time here we come

Any chance we can be added to this group? We were previously registered and entered on this group as Paul & Nise but had difficulty logging on, so found the only way was to re-register. This year will be visit 9, all at Rainbow, can't wait
Thanks
Paul & Denise
Hi Annie - to quote Roy Orbison - you gotit!
The post I read on this thread already contains your badge....
all the best
Phil
Hi, Jen here,
I have been wonderin' - since justphil (aka philandjen) has his "Regular Visitor" badge can I have one as well please? I only signed up separately because we couldn't both go in the chat room at the same time (how sad are we?) but as far as I know I've been in Arillas every time he has! He will have a lot of explaining to do if not!!!
Not urgent Dimitris, only when you get time.
lots of love and hugs to bebis - justjen
I reckon that's only fair justjen....unless justphil has secretly been sneaking off there without you.....
Hi
I'm making my 6th stay next month. My sister is making her 7th and then her 8th in August. Bit spooky because they are making their 8th visit on the 8th of the 8th 08 and there are 8 in the party.
We have always stayed at Kaloudis and have now initiated my son and daughter in law to Arillas. They have stayed at the Horison twice but won't be returning this year as two weeks ago the presented us with our fisrt grandchild born 39 and 1/2 weeks after ariving last year. I hope she's a reminder of a good holiday at the Horizon !
June
Cheers for the badge Dimitris. Now I know what purple stands for!
Hi Dimitris I have asked before but do apply for a arillas regular visitor yet? As you know we are moving there so what do you think? x
Hi Lou,
According to this thread (http://www.arillas.com/page/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,165/topic,2022.0/lang,en) you will be an arillas regular visitor after your 4th time in Arillas which is after your next holiday.
So please remind me when you are back
See you in Arillas,
Hya Alan
I came to stay in Arillas from May 9th to 16th - Just got back last night- We always stayed at Kaloudis, but this time as I was supposed to be going on my own I booked a room above the Portofino but last minute my b/friend got a lat minute flight and joined me there - had a great time and it was great that people still remembered us. I'm hoping to return later this year and was thinking about trying for July as I've never been there when it's been really hot. Anyway if we are there at the same time, we'll say hi and maybe all have a drink together.
Happy hols
Mary
Glad you had a good time Mary!
We don't quite qualify yet but we are working on in! First visited Kaloudis with our daughter, we think 2002. She is now independent and does her "own Thing", at the moment in a campervan somewhere between Brisbane and Sydney! Rob and I came on our own last year, Kaloudis again, right at the end of the season, 3rd week in October and enjoyed Arillas even more! So we ar returning on Monday 19th May this time staying at Anna's. Can't wait, looking forward to seeing Dimitris again and meeting new people.
Hya Blondegirl
Thanks, holiday didn't turn out to be the going solo adventure I'd planned and ended up having to change my booking from Bardis sun hotel , cause I couldn't get throught to Dorita on the phone till the day before I flew to ask if she had a room for 2 so last minute booked Porto fino, boy did I feel guilty when I did manage to contact Dorita and told her I was cancelling she sounded so lovely. But it was just lovely to be back in Arillas. I didn't get to meet any of the Forum members and only went in the coconut bar once, but hope to rectify that when I plan to return later on in the season.
Take care
Mary
I am glad everything turned out ok. Did you fly with EJ if you booked independently. We go with them in September staying at BS Hotel (Dorita). How was the flight?
Hi Mary
both jen and I have followed your adventure throught the weeks. So glad it worked out (can't fail there, can it?)
If you do get there in July between 7th and 21st, please look us up at the forum corner or whenever. Would love to buy you a large ...?
If later than that, we are planning to be there all of September, so same applies then.
all the best
phil and jen
Hi Blondegirl
I flew with Thomson fly - both flights coming and going went very smoothly and I had a great seat, right next to the exit with loads of leg room and two sisters sat next to me who where very friendly - had a scary moment coming back though - I hate wasps and one had joined me on the flight back home!! But a man sitting behind dealt with it
Cheers
Mary
Hi Phil and Jen
Thanks for that - it would really be great to meet up with you and Jen either July or September - Anyway I'm going to keep visiting this website and chatting with you all. Happy hols
Mary
Glad it all went smoothly Mary. So you didnt send up a panic signal when the wasp arrived then. You couldnt let it out of the window could you.
We hope our flight with EJ goes as smoothly... I would like to know of anyone else who has used them to fly to Corfu this year.
Hi,
Have visited Arillas 4 times so far, back for 5th at end of JUne.
Staying at Horizon.
Can not wait for another relaxing holiday with great people.
See you soon.
Regards
Pete
Hi Pete
I know you'll have a fantastic time
Happy hols
Mary
Hi,
The wife and I have been stayed in or visited arillas 9 times since 1988.Stayed 4 times, visited 5 time having stopped in either sidari (yuch) or san stafanos.
I`m afraid holidays abroad have had to sit on the back burner occasionally thanks to new children or houses.
But we will be back to visit Costas(on the beach) and buy some more cakes from the shop up the hill, but don`t know when.
Regards to you all
Sham
Hi Blondegirl,
We flew with easy jet this year, and from our experience, you have nothing to worry about. Both flights were fine! We have used them in the past as well, and never had a problem.
Lynn x
Thanks for that. We have been with EJ before to Germany and Prague but Corfu is a bit further so wondered what that would be like. My mind is at rest now!
Hi blondegirl my hubby flew with easyjet in april and there was no problems a bit delayed going out of gatwick but made up time and still landed on time. They must be ok as he's flying out with them again this weekend. Hope hols go ok x
hi sham
really identify with back burner. there are many things in life that do that. and they are usually children or houses... in our case that includes a cat.....
jen and me intend to move to corfu soon, next year looks good. as an Arillas regular visitor you know what we keep on about. the way of life is so much better than we do here. welcome to our forum - keep posting it takes a while till you feel comfortable but it keeps you in touch
best wishes
phil
30th June will be our 4th time.Mist all last year! What is the pull back formula, and can you bottle it,or you have and that,s the secret !!!!!
Hi Dimitris
I think we qualify - stayed a week in 2005; twice in 2006 a week each time and one week in 2007
hope also to come again soon!
best wishes
alan & liz
Hmmm i have been 5 times now. hint hint :)
riggers...
Hi Dimitris,
We first went to Arillas in 2004 and we are back for our fourth time in July, we've stayed at Nikos each time. We've also been to Agios Gordios in Corfu, Crete twice, Kos three times, Kefalonia once and Zante once in the same four year period though. Can we swap a couple of Kos's for an extra Arillas?
All the best
Graham
This year will be our 11th year in Arillas - we arrive on 15 August, but I have been 12 times as I was able to make an additional visit alone last year. We have mostly stayed at the Marina except on a couple of occasions when there were no rooms available at the times we could be there. Paul's formula for the perfect holiday is 'beach, bar and bed all within 20 yards'! However, I think there is nowhere in Arillas that isn't welcoming, friendly and totally chilled out. We love it.
HI
We Allways log on and read the posts , think that the site is great , this is the first time we have actually posted one ourself.
I first came to Arillas in July 1985 when I was a young 15 year old and have never missed a year since ........ so that makes it 23 years ....... some years going for a whole month ......
My husband's first visit to Arillas was in 1987 , when we were first going out together ...... obviously he loved it just as much as me and he has never missed a year since making it 21 years for him .
We even had our honeymoon in Arillas in 1991 , all three of our children have been coming to Arillas since before they were born ( as I said never missed a year , I was the big fat pregnant lady that only had a tan on the front of her legs !!!) so they have been coming to Arillas , 10 , 13 and 15 years , and they absolutely love it too.
My whole family love Arillas ....we are usually the big family from Essex that all come together ( around 35 of us ) in July or August .....
Anyway I am sure that we qualify for the "Regular Visitor" membergroup and cant wait until August for our next visit to our little place that we call paradise.
Lisa & Steve , Chloe Konnie & Ronnie xxxxx
Hi Lisa and Steve,
Welcome to the fold. :-)
Not only do you well and truly qualify for the "Regular Visitor Group" I reckon you are founder members of a brand new "En Masse Visitor Group" too!
Wishing you all your family many more happy holidays to come,
Eileenx
Wow where did you used to stay back then Lisa & Steven.
riggers...
Thanks for the welcome
In the past we have stayed in various places ....... back in 1985 & 1986 we stayed past the fish restuarant at the end of the road and way round the track , mind you then there were no other buildings until you got to Alexandra's where we were staying.
Which I have to tell you , we travelled to in the middle of the night ( not the best of journeys to do in a taxi back then ) , when we arrived my Dad would not let us unpack our suitcases because in his words ........... "we aint staying in this hole"
Woke up in the morning , went for a lovely walk down to the sea and needless to say not only did we go back and unpack but have returned every year since.
This was back in the days when Disco La Playa was the place to be !!!
Have stayed in many different places over the years ...... Leon's apartments up by Perry & Jimmy's , with Takis in the Arillas Inn , round at The Kaloudis ..... spent many a night propping up the bar with George & Billy ........ and at the Marina Hotel ........ but for the last probably 8 years we allways stay in the Marina Appartments ..... the two that are on the beach front.
We have seen Arillas grow over the years and have met some wonderful people , all of who have been returning year after year too.
We have just returned from our 4th visit to Arillas - another great holiday, which now qualifies us to become "regular visitors".
Looking forward to returning again.
It's my fourth visit starting on Monday ...... so I can join soon too! Am now bursting with excitement!
Have a good trip Cheryl. I hope to see you there. My flight arrives at 10:30 pm on Monday. Cheers, Nick
Hi Cheryl
Bet you are beside yourself now! Hope to bump into you again, and Nick, we are in the Horizon frequently so I'm sure that we will see you. Enjoy and I wll se you soon!! hee hee
Jo,
I'm very hard to miss, but it is well worth the effort!
Nick
Thanks Jo and Nick, hope your journeys are trouble-free too!
Nick, I'm having a drink (or two) with Eggy on Tuesday afternoon in the Horizon so hopefully will see you at some point!
Happy holidays everyone!
This will be our 5th year in arillas, we fly out on the 25th of July and are staying of course at kalooudis and will be see all our great friends, I see Alan posted a comment above, we cant wait too see you and joyce and everyone else. Our first holiday was in 2003 and we have returned every year since and seem to book every year in advance.

Hey Man
What a site,
Allmost there we have been there for the past four years, why did anyone not twell us about this
Hi I've just returned from my 4th visit so do I get to be a regular member now?
I reckon I first discovered Arillas in 2001 or 2002 - I really cannot remember but I do remember I had the most fabulous time and therefore did return the following next couple of years - at least twice a year on some occasions. I've missed a year and now returning for visit 7 or 8! Sorry things will become clearer after an oozo!
can i add my name to this elite group!?
first went in 2003 and have been back each year since, and each year bumped into the same faces!!
ash

Hi Mike & Joy, we stayed at the BS Studios last year, this year will be at the Hotel next door from the 11th, so no doubt we will pop over to see Poppy and family during our stay, for a few drinks and maybe one of Poppy's lovely omelettes, so might see you there.
Hi all you lifers. We,ve qualified this year I think it,s 5 or 6 times we,ve been over the years the first time was 2004 and we were Perry,s first customer's at the Coconut bar,s new season, and we have been good friends ever since.Hope to be back in June next year.
First came to Arillas in 2004, three times in 2005 and then 2006 and lived in Arillas for 10 months in 2007. Will be back again in 2009.

Hi, everyone. Come next June, we will have spent a total of nine weeks in Arillas- but it will be our fourth separate visit in five years.
We can`t wait to be added to this elite list!!!
Best Wishes Paul D and Heather.
Hi Dimitris
First came in 2002 then 2003,2005,2006,2007 and 2008 all July/August x
Hi lilacs any explaination as to how you broke your foor!!!! jammas, jinksy
I first came to Arillas in 2004 after discovering it by accident when I was looking for a peacefull ,after horrible tragic events in my life laid back holiday on a Greek Island and the customer services rep for teletext holidays recommended Arillas. I fell in love with the place and have been back seven times since, one of those staying in San Stefanos, but after meeting with Verena - Leon Amorada's partner who was working as the doctors receptionist there, invited us for a night out in Arillas, it was like coming home, that night so ever since we stay in Arillas and visit San Stefanos, as one of those great places to walk to.
Love
Mary

Hi,everyone.. we return for the fourth time since 2004. Do we qualify at 4 visits or over 4 visits? Obviously this won`t be our last visit, as more are planned. Total number of weeks so far- 9. Not as good as some, but we`ll keep trying.
Paul D
Do I qualify this time Dimitris, it will be our 5th time when we go back on the 19th June.
Sharonx
Hya Sharon,
Glad to hear you are coming back to Arillas.
Love

hiya only discovered arillas (heaven) this year through my sister who was looking at villas we eventually stayed at villa linakis its my ideal little haven hope to go back for many years to come

x
hey Janet - until we qualify a Arillas veterans perhaps we can persuade Dimitris to set up a "Villa Linakis junkies" member group? :-)
Have holidayed in Arillas 7 years now - 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009...and on the countdown to 2010.
Janet and Pommie, we are already the Villa Linakis appreciation society. We don't need anything new - us Arillas Addicts have this forum, provided by our wonderful webmaster Dimitris. Believe me you can go a bit over the top sometimes like I do and get away with it. Well, justphil has so far.
40 days, 2000 posts. What else can Arillas do to me? I have had two love affairs in my life, One with my Jen and one with my Arilllas. She is still fighting to keep me. Which one is going to win?? The answer is simple.
Phil
Thought Jen was going with you phil?
Hi Dimitri, this year was our 26th consecutive year in Arillas, first few years we stayed up by the bakery and then Kaloudis Village, we watched George and Spiro build Splish Splash, and what a success that has been eh, and there was very little in the village, so we have seen a lot of changes over the years, and most of the people we have met over the years we have kept in touch with, which is nice, so when the rep has a welcome meeting, i can tell her more than anyone else.......lol, take care.

Dimitris
When We return again on the 5th October It will be my 5th visit, how I wish it was my 50th
Will this make me a member of the Regular Visitor group.
My first visit was in July 2007, could not wait to come back so returned in May 2008.
Yes we had got the bug, Arillas is the place to be, July 2008 was our third visit and as you know we were again back in July this year.
October will be our fifth time and any other place would not be the same Arillas is our only destination. Sorry we are off to Tunisia in March 2001 but thats only because we are out of season for Arillas. See you Soon.
Ah John and Dot
I see the badge is in place. Yous are as regular as we get...
We lived Arillas this July, in full and without reserve. We would never have connected like that without the forum. Well truly, we probably would have because of the people we all are. But we might never have met without it...
You both are so full of life and happiness, like Jen and me. We will remember July 2009 with JohnandDot forever. Thanks seems too small a word.
loveandhugs
Phil
Thank you Dimitris I will wear the badge with pride.
Yes Phil July was good
It was a special holiday, It was a fun Holiday and best of all we had good company who shared it with us
Love to you both
John and Dot luvvers, our July was so good. An Arillas special. Just like we keep going on about on the forum.
They are playing "Yesterday" on TV now. Yesterday came suddenly... ratbags. Yous are back home in a few weeks. Jen and me will be yesterday... Just make the most of it.
Mind you Jen just collected my glass to fill with vodka frappe and love.
Wes lot will meet again. In thunder, lightning or in rain... In truth probably in Arillas in 2010.
love to both of you
Phil
We have got our 5th visit booked for next year, when do we get a regular visitor tab?
Karen
Our 5th visit is 25th of this month. Are we classed as arillas regulars? We should be 'akti arillas regulars' as its our fourth in the akti in two years.
Thank you dimitri. We feel like part of the gang now. See you soon.

Sharon x
Hi Dimitris
It to is our sixth time in Arillas this year can we join the club?
best regards
Hi Dimitris, last week was the 4th time for me. Only one week but better than nothing. Can´t wait to come back. I think Johann Christian and the other girls of our group are still relaxing and drinking Ouzo with you ?!
5TH visit coming up again, as always @ the mirage
Hi Dimitris,
My first visit to Arillas was in May 2007, and I've spent my holidays there ever since.
Once you've been to Arillas, there's really no need to go anywhere else, is there?

We felt this immediately on our first visit, many moons ago now. We just felt it was 'our kind of place'.
I still find it astonishing that Arillas has that effect on nearly
everyone. How can one place appeal to so many people, of differing ages, tastes, values, etc, etc?? I reckon they put something in the water ( - or wine).
Quite frankly, I don't care, just along as they keep doing it. lol.

Agreed, Anne! :)
We're just back from our holiday
Though I wish we were still there.
Why couldn't we stay in Arillas?
It just don't seem fair.
It was our fourth visit
And we're soon to book our fifth,
Arillas is the place to be
And that sure is no myth.
So if there's one thing I'd like to have
It's a Regular Visitor Badge.
I hope that I've now earned it
And I don't need to cadge.
Dimitri, I meant to say goodbye,
Sorry I missed out.
But hope that you can grant the wish

Very good Lynn.......:)
Thanks Sandy, Ang and riggers...

How could he resist after that Lynn?? Nice to have our poet back, but bet you're getting the blues. We all know about that....
Phil
Never mind blue.....we're waiting for her to go purple!
I'm waiting too......
Thanks Phil :)
Looks like I'm green with envy cos I'm not living there......
lynn xx
Maybe you can't be a Regular Visitor AND an On the Spot Reporter at the same time?
We have booked for our 5th holiday in Arillas and our 7th in Corfu. Do we now qualify as regular visitors or just addicts? Both suit us as we just love being there and are already counting down the months.

I think an On the Spot Reporter is superior but perhaps you could be just a Regular Visitor over the winter?
Lynn should be very proud... she is now the same colour as Eggy!! Forget purple - lime green is the new black!!!
I hope to be lime green one day - it will mean my dreams of living in NW Corfu have come true...
Phil
Hi Dimitris,
My first visit to Arillas was in May 2007. This year was my 4th and 5th visits in
June and September.
Connie. Denmark.
Everyone can be "on the spot" reporters. It's on a job share scheme.
As for "Regular Visitor" - Well, we all know that Arillas treats all guest as regular visitors, whether you're on your first visit or back for more.
But , if you all come back with a new "regular visitor" next year then what a pick me up that would be Arillas.
Cheers

Hi,
first visited Arillas in 1997 and have returned almost every year since. Always stay at Kaloudis accompanied by my family.
Always hire a bicycle for a couple of days of the holiday.Tour the northern part of the island including the BIG CLIMB up to the monastery at the top of Mount Pantokrator one day. Another day take the easy route to Pelekas and the Kaisers' Chair. Return via Paleokastritsa. Best days of the holiday.
Looking forward to returning next year.
Welcome to the forum Pedal pusher. Already an Arillas Regular Visitor. Jen and my pedal pushing days are over, let alone up Pantokrator.... But make the most of the banter in "virtual Arillas." A lot of peops on here swear by Kaloudis. We have stayed there and thoroughly enjoyed. Keep posting....
Phil
Hi,Dimitris. Heather and I will be back for our fifth visit in September, so it would be an
honour to join such a distiguished list of people.

hi everybody. we first came to Arillas in 1999 and have only missed 1 year out since then. most years we holidayed here at whitsun and in september but due to work commitments can only manage it once a year now.
this year will be our 16th trip and as usual we will be at Kaloudis for 2 weeks at the end of may. also 2 of my daughters and 7 grandchildren have enjoyed this little piece of paradise.
Hi Steve and welcome to the regular visitors group...and boy don't you qualify! How lovely to have 7 little treasures to share Arillas with :-)

hello Eileen and also Riggers,
just a note to say my wife Norma and I will be at kaloudis from the 28th may till 11th june. we just cannot wait for it.
2 weeks away from home and work, just heaven.
Welcome to the forum stevep. Jen and me think the world of Kaloudis, like many others. riggers and his lovely wife Sue are probably their most regular guests.
We stayed in October 2007 and had a great time. Some hate the liveliness, but we don't. Will be visiting regularly in July. Jen does the pool while I do the beach, followed by a cosy afternoon drinking Mythos and nattering to anyone who cares to. Yet another slice of happiness in Arillas.
Hope you keep posting on here. I keeps you in touch with people you've met. And many you haven't but want to.
Phil
Dimitris, im 1 away from my 4th visit, but love arillas, first came in 2007 with my in-laws john and eileen clutterbuck who have been coming to your beautiful island for many many years....they are with you now at the moment staying in yanis's apartments, they come at least 2 times a year, we stay at kaloudis when we come with silly billy, he even keeps stuff in his garage for us.............love your island love the people............x
A great advert for Arillas. Thanks for your post. Have had many a chat with our Billy.

we have just returned from our 10 visit to arilas, we would love to see the arilla inn opened again but otherwise cannot imagine not coming to arilas at least once a year.
hello Beagles, welcome to the forum and what took you so long?! I agree about the Arilla inn, such a shame and I find it incredible that it is just falling into disrepair year on year. maybe the Corfu tourist board are turning it into a ruin for people to visit rather than the Parthenon! ;-)
Welcome back, Connie x

I've only been back for a few hours, but ofcourse I had

An absoultely stunning photo of our Lynn. You have captured exactly what we all see whenever we think about her. She looks so "Arillased!!!" Sadly you and she are back abroad now. Doubtless plotting your next visit home....

Oh righty,lol.
Think I must count as a regular visitor. First visit July 1997, and every year since - back on 30th July- ahh what blissful anticipation. This will be our 14th consecutive year and we're not tired of it yet - nor ever will be. Can't wait - 29 more get ups.

I think you most certainly do deserve that badge! Are you staying at kaloudis again? My good friends, Kerry, Sean and their two kids are coming on 2nd Aug and staying in Roula's private apt, look out for them x
Hi Jo
We certainly are staying at Kaloudis again and will be arriving on the 30th - 25 days and counting!!! Will keep an eye out for your friends - they can usually find us under the big olive tree on the far side of the pool, tell them there will be seven of us altogether, including Mike and Jen, Gill and John, Dee (our 80 year old Mom), and Alan and Joyce - also arriving on the 2nd. Will look forward to meeting them. x
Have spoke to Alan yesterday, he was the one who took my blessing pics for me last year. Shame I will miss you all. Enjoy x
Think I must qualify as an Arillas regular. First came in 1997, and have now spent a total of 11 weeks here over the last 13 years. So much sun, so much fun and far too many cocktails in the Rainbow and Sea Breeze!! Back again at the end of July for a family and friends break. Can't wait to see Dimitri at Brouklis and the Anthis family again.
Hello Jom! Welcome to the forum! Co'mon then, spill the beans...where do you usually stay etc?
Yes, welcome to the forum, JoM - where do you usually stay and at what time of year?
Janis x
Hi to all the regular visitors, Barry and I have visited Arillas 6 times in 5yrs, and are due to go back in Sept, can't wait to see everyone again. We stay at the Portofino on the seafront and love it there. We have been going in July for a couple of years but unfortunately due to Barry being ill have got to go later on so wont see the usual crowd.
Barry has been going to Arillas longer than me and has been 4 times
Hope to see you there
Dianne
Hi Dianne, sadly you'll be missing your usual crowd but maybe
you'll enjoy meeting new people. Some of us will be around in
September and I'm sure we will all enjoy meeting you!
Connie x
Of course Jo, I almost forgot about your blessing - we saw the photos and you sure seemed to have a great time. Hope the last year has been good to you. We're seeing Alan and Joyce on Saturday they're coming down for Mike's 60th birthday bbq so must pray for great weather. Jenny
Hi Di - Phil and I stayed with Spiros at Portofino this year (in his best room) lol we had a fab time he is such a charater. We have been to Arillas 10 time now, usually in May or September. I am sure you will have a great time even if the usual crowd are not there because everyone is so friendly. Enjoy x

I do not BELIEVE it!!! Victor and Margaret are Arillas Regular Visitors. Just need the badge.... Dimitris will oblige.
Just be careful of hit and run drivers dears - I seem to remember it was the end of a beautiful TV series.....
Glad to read you again on the forum

Anne glad you enjoyed your stay with Spiro he is definatly a character. Did you stay in the front right hand room, thats the room we always preferred, double balcony.

Yes Jill that was the room - two balconies - it was ace xxxxxxxxxxxx
Only four sleeps until we return to arillas, my third time this summer, which means this summer I'll have had five and a half weeks in Arillas. Last year was four weeks and the year before three and a half. Can anyone see a trend delveloping here. Having spent three weeks there in each of the two previous years will surely allow me to qualify as a regular visitor. As for next year, I am working on it, watch this space.
In July I was lucky enough to meet some very nice regulars, including Phil and Jen, Dorothy and James, Liz and Liz, and the lovely Sue who is now a good friend. Damn, just checked my watch, still four sleeps to go!
Hi Dai,
Truely understand your excitement. I'm off in less than two weeks now myself.
Enjoy your holiday and say hello to everyone from me.
Connie x
I'm not envious. It's the Mythos bottles....
lol. Have a great time Dai.
Phil
Hi Dai
Have a super holiday- give our love to Efi, I'm sure you will be having many a lunch there!!
Thanks Dorothy, you are not wrong. Lots of leisurely lunchtimes at Efi's, will give your love to Efi and family.
I have just booked for my fourth visit!!! Looking forward to coming back and being an offical "regular visitor"
First time I came with my Mum about 13 yearas ago, second time with my husband 11 years ago, third time with our two children in 2009 and next year we will be bringing my sister and brother-in-law too!

We have visited Arillas 4 times now, our first time being in May 2007. I booked 2 weeks and we stayed in the Arillas Bay apartments. When we first arrived we had to get off the coach just before where the river flows down to the beach. There had been heavy rain in the weeks before we arrived and the flow of water had damaged the road - we wondered what we'd come to as we were made to walk across the beach and a small makeshift wooden bridge over the water with our cases. It only took us a day before we fell under the charms of this lovely little resort. Since then we have returned every year our 4th visit being in 2010. We are of course returning for our 5th visit this year and we can't wait. I'm just counting down the days till I can enjoy courgette balls at our favourite restaurant Brouklis.
Karen, Jerry, welcome to the "virtual" Arillas community. Here you will find nut-cases like me (Jen and me are "nuts" about our little slice of paradise) and occasionally you might read someone with something useful to say. I'm not naming names....
Your experience of the
Quotecharms of this lovely little resort
are quite familiar to us all. And after four visits you turn purple! Get yer finger out Dimitris.
(S)he even plugged Brouklis!!!! Mind you, we all know why. Fabulous authentic Corfiot food.
Happy new year luvvers
Phil
Hi Karen and Jerry,
Unfortunately you two appear to have caught a bug.
- Symptoms - An unsettling yearning and itch to be somewhere else. Difficulty thinking, concentrating, remembering or making decisions.
- Diagnosis - Post holiday slump - medical term Arillasitus.
- Cure - None. Booking a flight and accommodation provides a temporary relief.
- Suggested follow on treatment....increase dosage to two visits or more per year.
Welcome to the Arillasitus Support Group!
Eileen.x
haha eileen ..fab but true,,,,,,,,,,,x
sooooooo true Eileen, counting down in my diary its the only way to stay sane ha ha

LOL...Viv!
Dr Eileen wishes to amend her previous post. There
is a cure for Arillasitus but it requires a complete lifestyle change that involves a permanent move to Arillas*.
* Possible known side effects to be aware of are missing family and enlarged liver. For now I recommend that you keep following your current prescription which is to continue with your placebo (The Arillas forum) and back it up with at least a couple of medicinal visits to Arillas per year. :-)
xxxxx
:-)
Reckon I must be a terminal case. I've been on Dr Eileen's prescription for years now, and keep getting worse. Can't sell up, and can't afford both, so I'll keep on taking the 6-number pill every week in the hope for a miracle....
lovely heartwarming posts all!

We have done five years at tria and have booked sixth stay for next July already. 4th July for two weeks and hope neil does a darts night as the visitors won this year lol.
Seven visits for Val n Bill, but still not enough. So already booked for next year :)
Val x
Lost count, first visit in 1994, nafsica, dionysis 1 and 2, perrys and jimmy's, bakery, Ina's, Irine's, Nikos, Kaloudis
Ive lost count too! - up to 3 times a year and usually 3 weeks each visit for past 11 years
One thing I have learned over the years is that just about everybody I meet there has been going for longer, staying longer at a time and knows more than I do. Our eleven years and 17 visits seems to be at the middle of the statistics.
But what is the point in competing with each other? We are a select group, yes selected by our God, or our fate to find something which enriches our lives, takes us over and makes us happy.
My favourite moments are sitting on my bench, Jen by my side, watching the sun go down, feeling true romance and joy. (Oh all right, smoking a fag and dreaming of dinner at Efi's and some of Perry's Black Russians in the Nut.)

I am on here way back in 2007 at 6 visits to Arillas. So I guess this next one is 10 or 11. Don't count really only the time to the next visit.
we have been coming since 1983/ 84 missed a few years whilst our son was too young to travel, been back every year since 1992 except 2011 when my appendix ? burst so came twice this year 2013,be back next year for sure. we met a lady this time never did get her name who has travelled all over greece and all over corfu but never arillas ,when we told her how many times we had come she said i am not surprised as she had a feelling as soon as she arrived that this place was special and would come back,as do all the rest of us very lucky people

Just discovered thread.Had to go through 21 pages to see if I had already posted but cannot find anything.First visit 1995 staying at Bardis Sun Hotel with Thomsons.Since then every year with 4 years of 3 visits,8 years of 2 visits and 7 years of only 1 visit(I know and apologise for those 7 years).June 2014 for next visit staying at Rainbow with Jimmy for first trip of year. Ron and Sue.
Forgot to say thanks to ianh for resurecting this thread Ron.
Seven times for us and the eighth booked too

justloveit. I learned quite a while ago that everybody has been more times, stayed for longer, knew more about Arillas than me. But that competition is pointless. We obviously get so much from our times there - the local folk, the welcome, the cooking, the seafront..........
I am so glad to be part of the community about which our last two posters have talked. Jen and I are amongst the lucky folks - we have found our slice of heaven.
Phil
1994 was our first year, then every year apart from 2005 I think, sometimes twice a year. in the early years with our children when they were young, the last two years with greatgrandparents and grandchildren, I'm sure dimitri remembers little lilly with his son watching her dvd up the table. Roll on next year.
This topic was born when regular visitors seemed the only way forward for the future of my beloved Arillas. And maybe that is still true. I am glad to have participated in it.
Since then, the Wine and the Beer festivals have attracted so many, so much water has flowed under so many bridges. Brouklis has turned 40, but Dimitris still looks like a little boy....
All of these memories I keep reading about must be recorded and cherished. None of us can keep them all in immediate memory.
Phil
1986 - Our first visit to the beautiful island of Corfu. We stayed in Ipsos.
1998 - Agios Gordios - 2 weeks in the Thomson Gold Hotel. We hired a car to explore the island and visited Arillas. We had a drink in a restaurant opposite the beach and I remember there was a field of Sweetcorn next door.
2003 - We booked 2 weeks at the Bardis Sun Hotel and when we arrived we realised that we'd been for a brief visit to Arillas before. On checking out the resort I think the restaurant we visited in 1998 was the Portofino.
2005 - Another 2 weeks at the Bardis Sun Hotel with the lovely Dorita.
2009 - 2 weeks at the Akti. This time we went exploring on foot and as we walked up the hill to San Steph we spotted Annas Studios and decided we would stay there the next time.
2010 - Terry retired that year so we stayed for 4weeks at Annas.
2011 - Annas again, 2012 - Annas, 2013 - Annas(June) 2 weeks and then 1 week in September (had to go to the Wine Festival!)
2014 - Already booked for the last 2 weeks in June at Annas and then a 4 day stay in a hotel to explore and take in the history in Corfu Town.
We never tire of visiting Arillas or meeting and talking to the wonderful people there; be they holidaymakers or residents.
justloveit Diane. Simply done, simply said, simply Arillas. My own heart in a post. "TEN!!!!!"

we first came to arillas in 1999 and have now been 22 times since. also 3 of my 4 children, 8 of my 13 grandchildren and 1 of my 3 great-grandchildren have also been to this wonderful place over the last few years. we have always stayed at kaloudis and over the years have met many wonderful people, both local and holidaymakers.
sadly this year when my wife norma and I came in may she became unwell after 2 days and we managed to get an early flight home the next day. it broke her heart having to cut short the holiday as she loved arillas and especially everyone at kaloudis. fortunately we had already booked another holiday with some of our family for late july to which she could look forward to. unfortunately she passed away 6 weeks later in mid july. following the funeral my family insisted that we still go on the holiday, so 12 of us came over and had both a sad but mostly happy holiday. all our friends at kaloudis, Portofino and the coconut bar were sad to hear our news and couldn't do enough to make our holiday the best it could be under the circumstance.
on a happier note, as arillas is in my blood I have booked 2 weeks at kaloudis next may and look forward to seeing all my friends again.
Hi SPP
Thank you for sharing the story of your life and loss. I am sorry to hear of the loss of your wife. What a love story - a story of life, marriage, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. All condensed into a paragraph or two, but between the lines I sense many happy times and special memories have been made from your time in Arillas............... and I also sense many more to come.
I hope you don't mind my comments Mr SPP, I wouldn't want to upset you in anyway.
Cypress
Spp, that certainly brought a tear to my eye. So sorry to hear that your lovely wife passed away but so glad that Arillas was there to help heal you. Xx
SPP, I applaud your bravery, to visit so soon after your loss could not have been an easy decision.
But Arillas truely is a magical place.
To visit a place that you have been so often with your loved one, but without that loved one, can bring back so many memories of happy times there together that it could actually make you very sad.
But Arillas is different, it brings back those memories, but in a tranquil and peaceful way so that it just makes you happy remembering those shared moments.
So glad you are visiting again next year, I am sure that Arillas will continue to make those memories happy for you, and for all your family.
SPP so sorry to hear of your sad loss. Hopefully the wonderful memories of your trips to Arillas will help, in time, to ease the pain of your loss and you can revisit special places, be amongst friends and those who understand.
I can't remember if I've posted in this thread before...
I first came to Corfu in 1999, staying in San Stef, with a couple of brief trips to Arillas. Then I returned to Corfu in 2006 for my honeymoon, staying in St George South. In 2007 my love affair with Arillas began and I've visited every year except 2012 since (although my love affair with Corfu lasting longer than the marriage!). This year I introduced 2 new folk to Arillas and they will be back in 2013 (flights & accommodation booked!). As for me, I'll be back but sadly not in 2013 - working on the new partner but at the moment we have to find a compromise of sun and sailing (I do one, he does the other!!) ... but hopefully in 2014! I'll introduce him to the other love of my life :D
First visited in June 1987 so I think with this and previous years double visits for birthdays etc was our 19th visit. Must be something about the place and the people we like then!
Next season we will count our ninth visits, but the strange thing is we have only stayed at three apartments..... Marina, Mathraki and Makris, and they all begin with M. ?? Can we have a regular visitor badge, or have they been discontinued.
I think "oldgit" definitely merits one too.
Val n Bill x
Forgot to add that our first visit was in 2002. We then missed a few years trying to find another place that lived up to the peace and calm we found in Arillas....Not possible, so we now return year after year.
Val x
Our first time was 1987 with my mum and dad, then left it until 2002, 2003, 2004, twice in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, missed 2013 but booked for 2014 making our total 14 visits for Stuart and myself and 13 visits for amy.
SPP so sorry for your loss - I am sure your wife will be looking down and being pleased that you are finding some peace and happiness along with all your lovely memories. Phil and I have been coming to Arillas for almost 20 years now, and still love it. We have just retired and are spending 3 months, April, May and June in an apartment next to Marvel, we will have our dog Poppy, a border collie with us. Please everyone come and say hello to us.
we have been to arillas since may or june 2000 twice in 2008 with our family and grandchildren missed 2012 due to arrival of another one! have been puzzled on retorn this year 20/6 to find that i have been removed from forum have now re registered was my last visit unlucky 13? will retuen again next year already booked but could be last time due to age.
BEAGLES age has nothing to do with our forum. Believe me as 62 now qualifies for forum youngster. Cerrtified Drunk and Coconut dancer....
Phil
ah but i can give you quite a few years on 62 phil these old bones are not keeping up!
Hi dimitris, discovered arillas in 1991 when I had to wait for 30 mins for a taxi, because we were told that Arillas did not get many people going there.coming every year since then,2009,2012 came twice,oh dear, see you mon,11th.
started coming in 20000 then 2002 2003 2005 2006 2007 twice in2008 2009 2010 2011 not 2012 due to arrival of another grandchild 2013 and booked in may for 2014 think we are regular visitors! beagles
We now qualify! 2 weeks Mathraki Studios 2011, 4 weeks Mathraki Studios 2012, 5 weeks Bardis Studios 2013 and 6 weeks Bardis Studios 2014!!
17 weeks in four visits, think you deserve a Regular Visitor badge for that Steve.
I hope we qualify as "regular visitors". Later this month will be our 10th holiday in beautiful Arillas and I still get excited. No worries about our accommodation as Anna's is always perfect, no worries about finding our way around and no worries about finding good tavernas. In fact, Arillas means ... no worries, just bliss.
For me, I've been visiting Arillas since 2007, as a suggested alternative to other destinations, and and have not missed a year since. Ironically fly out Sunday morning so that will be 7 years as a regular visitor now.
See you next week Boss :)
Martin
Martin and I have been visiting Arillas since 2008. May 2015 will be our seventh visit.
Edna and I first visited Arillas in 1989, with our youngest son, he is 36 now, it makes me feel old. Not missed many years between visits.
We are returning on 12th September staying in Arillas Studios, our home in 1989, when they were known as Harris Apartments.
Only 28 days to go, not really counting them, ???
David and Edna
So glad you are returning once again, just knew you couldn't miss a yearly visit.
We did miss you both this year but we hope that maybe we will see you in 2015?
We are returning for two weeks July/August and hope to have our usual May break as well but that has not been finalised yet, depends on daughter and son-in-law getting the same weeks.....as we still have the grandsons in the holidays.
Keep well both of you and enjoy your September break.
Val n Bill x
I've just realised, my next visit in 5 days time will be my fifth visit. My first being in 2008. :-) Can't wait to be back.
We have been 5 times. The first time in. 2001 and then 2004. We then had a gap and then have been the last 3 years in a row. Booked again for next year.
Sonia and Timbo, you have been regular visitors for ages. Badges or not. I'm sure you will get "promoted" as soon as Dimitris or his software gets a chance.
You are both already true Arilliacs, true Arillas Addicts, and I respect you both for it.
Phil
Thank you Dimitri's for the badge. Truely proud and privileged to be a regular visitor.

Thanks Phil mate. I know Dimitris will do the honours once I've made my next visit. I feel like I'll be joining the Arillas Elite, but I think that goes for all forum members really. :-)
2011=2weeks, 2012=4weeks, 2013=5weeks, 2014=6weeks, 2015=6weeks, 2016=7weeks. Does that make us regular?
Steve and Carole - you still there from 27th June onwards? Will be good to meet again but I thought I`d warn you, in case you wanted to hide. ;-) Glad you enjoyed this visit :-)

This August will be our Pearl visit to Arillas, we just keep coming 2 times a year when possible love it.
Me and Allison have been 4 out of the last 5 years and that was because Olympic cancelled our holiday ! So we just make it :)
Got back from Arillas on 10th August . Our 7th year in a row. Lovely 10 days. Stayed at the Akti, 4 in a row, great family and great location. Dining out just as superb as the first time, too many favourites to name them all!
Met Bill and Val over a late drink at the Akti, nice to meet the real duo as mistakenly thought we met them 2 years ago! Both lovely and true Arilliacs. Reacquainted ourselves with several other regulars but missed Phil&Jen and John&Dot this year!
Arillas replenishes and repairs and gets you through another year, long may it remain our little bit of paradise.
Pat and Annette.
Just been rereading everyone's story's on this tread, and must say how much I have enjoyed them again.xx
Yay! 6th visit booked for 20th August. 27 sleeps! :)

Hello everyone, we have stayed at Tria Adelphia regularly since 1999 & are here currently for 3 weeks - amazing!! Looking forward to our family joining us soon.
Nice to meet you last night Joanne xx
Viv, was just looking at this again again. we started coming 1998 and have been twice a year. Some times 3 times for weddings etc. Unfortunately as you know we haven not been able to get back for the last 2 years due to illness and stroke. We are now looking for next year.(finger crossed) As for what places we have stopped, in ones that are now done up and have new names. To our (little house) as the Boss calls it. That reminds me, his new apartments are great.
My broth will most probaby be able to tell you how many times we have been and were we stopped.
Love to All our Friends out there, Hope to see you all. soon
Good morning from a sunny London
We have been staying every year at The Horizon since 2013 but we discovered Arillas many years before when we used to walk over the hill from San Stefanos.
We are looking forward to our visit this year in just under four weeks time.
