Just back yesterday from wonderful Arillas, and loved the place so much.  We completed the survey form and gave our opinion on what Arillas needs and does not need in the way of future developments.  Take a short time out to look at the following article posted of Easyvoyage website today outlining the pitfalls of all-inclusive holidays and their effect on resorts.  I would hate that to ever come to Arillas.

It is very sad if people allowed that to become the norm for 'holidays'

Hi
Thanks Cornerhouse for posting the pointer to the Easyvoyage article about the 'all inclusive' crowd.  I first encountered this type of holiday when visiting St Spiridon Bay on the north east coast of Corfu, where there is a Blue Bay Escape complex.  I looked round the complex and thought it seemed great.  However I too couldn't work out why so many people surrounded the pool and bar, rather than going down to the splendid beach.
Perhaps if my triplets were still in the 6 to 11 age group we would like the idea of an all inclusive holiday, but nowadays the freedom of a holiday in Arillas is a much more appealing thought.
Best wishes
Pat

Arillas is a special "throwback" to times past (or in fact only  few decades) but with a growing appeal to many of the younger folk who adore it and are often underwhelmed by all of the advances in communication and technology. At the moment it appeals to us older folks, but there are green shoots of an altogether younger version. Just bring it on. It will never be the idiotic "all-inclusive" resort, but Arillas will continue to include all and everyone who wants it to, whether they are newborn or old. Such is the culture of the place.

Much more work to do in securing its future when the likes of Pat and Julia, Phil and Jen are long gone. But "if I live to be a hundred, never seen the seven wonders, that will be all right. That's who I am." (Apologies to Jessica Andrews and Sue FBEye...)

When you take the Arillas today, which has been around 18d eg and right now sits at 16 deg outside and dry with 20 deg in the house ,without heating, you realise that reviews like that are only written to provoke answers. (Water off a ducks back etc)

We are all Arillas and will continue to be an Arillas for all.
( maybe in 20 years it might change , but not now )

ps ... We had 35mm of rainfall from 12pm yesterday to 8am this morning,

WOTSTHATALLABOUT? -  It's only October!

Well as Arillas devotees for 13 years, many of you will know that I have often felt some guilt at not taking my boys to an all inclusive monstrosity. It seems that my judgement has worked out ok as my soon to be 17 year old is planning on going abroad with his mates next year for the first time. You'll never guess where they are planning..apparantly when they went in the travel agents they were laughed at by all the agents when they said Arillas!!I never thought I would say this but I think its great that Sidari is just down the road as it let's them have that 'mad' night they crave at that age but when they return to Arillas they have the safety that all us (petrified!) Parents wish for when their first-born goes off on their own..(Gulp)

Eggy

Arillas Today gives us another 20mm of overnight rain but, as I bash keyboard, at 5:30 pm I have seen a super day which still hovers around that dry 20 deg mark.

Sticking the 'ole Egg "chicken neck" out I would say that Phil n Jen plus other brave adventurers may be in for a super week next week.

Nature may chop that neck off and a headless Egg will run around squawking...
......... WOTSITALLABOUT.? ( Can you squawk that without a head? )

I took the camera to Arillas Today but failed to turn it on. It's an age thing.
Anyway, look out P n J ,there's a few tables patiently waiting for bums on seats.
Coconut have just stocked up and are also ready for you.

Cheers

Ah Neill my friend. We had a huge chuckle reading your post. Arillas is Arillas. (What a pathetic comment.... not even worthy of me.) Jen and I are so busy packing, preparing... er NO!!!! - we've got Youtube blasting out hits from the sixties, laughing and enjoying, just like we will in the Nut or Thalassa next week. The voddie frappes are flowing and livers are running for cover. Tomorrow is a nightmare of air travel but on Tuesday we will be home. And we promise not to keep it all to ourselves like we usually do. Arillas is beautiful in Octomber and November. Kostas and Spiros at Marvel would agree with me.

Arillas Today is counting the pennies, and the price of vodka is obscene. But like us two, there is no way the b*****ds will ever get us down. On Tuesday we will join the parade. Jen does a mean wallop with her walking stick......

See you soon my Arillas....

Just read Cornerhouse`s link.   Our Arillas Today will never be that.  What`s the point of not enjoying another culture and sampling it`s wears?
All-inclusive - not for us ( but obviously for many!)
Wish our Arillas Today was every day.

Arillas - `perfect antidote to life`s stresses and strains`!

Too right Paul - you put it perfectly - how much you miss if you don't at least dip your toe into another culture.
Not only that, Eggy, P n J may mean Phil & Jen to you but to me it means Pat n Julia - just wish the P n J about to hit Arillas were Julia & I.
Still I hope Phil & Jen have a whale of a time as usual and they go with our good wishes (and the happy knowledge that we have already made our own booking for 2012).
Looking forward to those photos Neill when you get the box brownie going (at least you didn't have to switch those on!).
Best wishes
Pat

Patrick, PnJ is a code word for Arilliacs. Just because we share initials is irrelevant. We all love the place irrationally and idiotically. But this PnJ will be doing it all again on Tuesday. And I don't even own  a pair of Speedos.

By the look of your ticker, Phil, you've touched down already.  Just love it as the ticker moves ever nearer our dream holiday - roll on Tuesday Phil and get off down to the beach.
Best wishes

Just ordered a pair of speedos on eBay. They won't look at all right on me, well not until I've eaten quite a lot more of Efi's prawns... And sadly they won't be on me when I wave at the
w e b c a m next week, from knee high in the sea, 100 yards (sorry metres) from the shore. But tomorrow night Jen and I are going home. I'm the loud one but she puts me in the shade in terms of our love affair with Arillas. On the porn sites they call it a threesome so we're told. We will be doing our threesome all next week. Bring it ON!!!!!!!!

Phil

Eggy

Speedos on Phil????
They would never stay on, unless stapled!

A little taster for Phil n Jen who will soon be winging their way to Arillas
(I say winging not "wingeing" as they "winge" about nothing!)

Enough beach here you you guys then??

Ina's is open next week as is Yiotas who says "Black Russians" are in Town.
(Is that a code for summit and......... WOTSITALLABOUT?)

Malibu still looks to be serving it's loyal customers and here's a very happy and relaxed Peri at Coconut.

.
Before I told him you were coming tonight!
This was after!

JUST LOOK AT HIS EYES!

With 20deg outside now at 6pm and with a very dry and pleasant Arillas, all guests here are happy bunnies.
How many more potential happy bunnies are here tonight?
Me for one and I'm here. Weggs is back tonight after a week in the UK
(Good job to as I had to buy another laundry basket - Other one is full)
Cheers

Jersey Bean

Brilliant photos Eggy, looks like Phil & Jen have got their own private resort. I'm very jealous, it's pouring with rain here in Jersey. Roll on 2012 for our next visit.
