Come on, only your most favourite meal in Arillas. Only ONE is allowed or you will be disqualified.
Tell us which one was your favourite, not a list of all the others.
Competition ends on 31 January when I will pronounce the best meal in Arillas.
justphil's was the strange, huge prawn served by Tomas at Vavilas. It was gorgeous and ate like tender lobster.
Have a say.

One meal...? Almost impossible Phil ???
But IF forced to choose:
Mama Kiki's Pastitsada in Armourada and I can and I will recommend it to anyone and everyone :) Mmmmm.....
-
Oh dear - I din't sample enough restaurants to make any real contribution. However, I like to join in so will give my honest answer.
My favourite meal last year, on my first visit to Arillas, had to be the picnic on the boat we hired. It was bread, tomatoes, crisps etc, so clearly it wasn't the food that made it the best meal. It was the fact that we moored up in Porto Timoni and ate it whilst admiring the fantastic scenery and ambience.
We could have been eating cardboard and it would still have been the best meal ever. Very, very special.
-
Last year it had to be Granpa's chicken at Portofini ,absolutely gorgeous :-)
-
Well this is a very difficult question..... Bill opted for fried squid followed by spit roast lamb at Brouklis, then he changed his mind so many times that I said he would be disqualified so he's sticking with that.
For me it has to be Feta from the oven followed by Monk fish with potatoes at Vavilas served by Thomas and his lovely family.
Now Bill wants that as well..... so now I have told him he's disqualified and he's gone into a big sulk. Your fault Phil :)

-
Val, you just stole my thunder. The exact same meal is also my fave, also with a half carafe of red wine.
-
sardines for starters and bifteki and chips in brouklis .yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
-
The monk fish for us as well we have never been anywhere else that cooks it that way or as well Jenny and Graham
-
This has created a great debate here in the Roberts household, but as usual I obey the last command and so our vote goes to last years end of season family BBQ at the Rainbow. The occasion as much as the food tipped the vote. The way that the family welcomed us into there gathering demonstrates some of the reasons of why Arillas is so special.

The meal we had at the Horizon last September - a chicken dish, whose name I forget now. Superb cuisine in a great place!!
Yammas, Paul
-
Sea Bream at Graziella's :-)
-
Looks like Thomas at Vavilas is running away with this, even more so now as the very same Monkfish gets my vote too!! Feta starter , honey and yoghurt dessert, , , , sorted!
-
The Lamb Chops at Graziellas,fantastic.
-
Vavalis
Thomas's MONK FISH, say no more. 2 votes from Me and Dot
Do you remember when you dragged the couple off the street into Brouklis Phil and got them to have dinner
We almost did the same at Vavalis last summer but they were on the way in. I recommended the Monk fish and they ordered.
A couple of days later we saw them and they had been back for more.
-
It has to be Vavilas Sea Bream with the potatoes. That's Billy's as well. Bliss on a plate :)

Almost impossible to decide because we ate nearly everywhere and were never disappointed...however, we have made a joint decision and Eleni's stamna at Tria Adelphia has to be our first choice...could go on but worried about Phil's disqualification rule :(
-
too difficult to choose one, but, for the pure enjoyment, the laughs, the friends it has to be giros and cheesy chips, gert lush!!!
ger x
-
Definitely the divine juicy succulent lamp chops at Brouklis. Nomnom!!
-
Definitely Graziella's garlic prawns !
JC
-
David and I agree that for us it's the vegetarian Mousakka at Portofino. We kept going back for it. Perfect with a carafe of red vino and Spiro's friendly banter! Can't wait to try the monkfish at Vavilas, though. Only 8 months to wait. Mo x
-
Allison's gone for the stamna at portofino & i've had to go for the monkfish (the best ive ever tasted)with the carafe of red of course :)
-
I'm going for Stifado at the Mirage or Meatballs at Thallasa.
-
PHIL! PHIL Pete broke the rules, can I come back?
Bill
-
Favorite Meal, that would be the night we had a Meza evening at Brouklis with Viv and Pete, and excellant meal and great company,we left the choice upto Dimitris and he did us proud.
-
Seafood platter.....Armourada.

-
It certainly was a great meal Harold and as you so very good company. But best meal? we keep coming up with differant one's and can't decide on a right out there favourate.
Pete says our party after our blessing and I agree but I dont think that would count as a favourate meal, would it. lol. Love Viv & Pete
-
It has to be Tomas at Vavilas serving warm dolmades followed by sea bream and then...baklava.
-
Oh Phil, you are very cruel making us decide on only one dish when every night is a culinary delight! (I am a poet & don't know it!)
I can't possibly pick one dish but must confess that we haven't been to The armourada for a couple of years now & that seafood platter looks delish, definately on the to do list this year!

-
Nic & Jon...kokoretsi...never been brave enough yet!
-
Don't say RED CARD John! It still scares me even after all these years! He he
I hope you are keeping well mate
-
Kokoretsi......yuk, must be the worst on the list, but somebody has got to like it I suppose. Does Phillip cook it just for you John?
Val x
-
Dare I ask what Kokoretsi is??? Is it related to a male chicken?? ;-) xx
-
Kokoretsi is basically lamb or goat intestines wrapped round offal including sweetbreads cooked rotisserie/spitroast style...not on my list of things to try before I die I must say - and I am certainly not squeamish!
-
Nor mine Sarah, Bill is the offal lover in our family and said he would try it but wouldn't order it, so watch out for a plate picker anyone brave enough to try it ;)

Kokoretsi,
Dont dismiss it without having tried it.

Phil's Dad cooks the kokoretsi, and it is gorgeous. Nic wouldn't go near it of course.
-
Do you eat it or...... does it eat you!!
Val x :D
-
Jesus Christ that sounds HIDEOUS!!
LOL, jo, you just put exactly into words what I thought when I read the description :D
uugghhh not for me.
Sharonx
-
Would have to be Philips Dad who cooks it because Philip wont cook, he wont dance either (got a bad leg)
Had a bad leg for a long time now, think it appears every summer ...lol
-
Thomas' monk fish at Vavillas is to die for! As is any of his fish ....freshly caught in the early hours of the morning!
-
My fave meal is the Greek breakfast served at the Marinaki, beautiful homemade jams, feta and olives and amazing service with the best view to start the day.
-
Kokoretsi looks quite nice but dont think i fancy it ,after saying that whats in a Mcdonalds besides cows lips and other bits of the animal :-(
-
Favourite meal is spit roasted lamb followed by the most delicious galactabouraka, made fresh every Sunday at Brouklis. Well worth forgetting the diet for. Can't wait for next visit in May.
Carol

I'm pretty much the same as the rest of you - can't decide as we've never had a bad meal in Arillas. Had a surprisingly good lamb dish (but think it was a special) at Horizon this year.
But we love having a meze with retsina at lunchtime or just select a few starters ourselves .... yum. Getting me hungry just thinking of it.
Have recently been to Barcelona but I always tell everyone, the best food we have ever had has been in Arillas and when they think Greek food they think of the menus outside tavernas with all the pictures on and think I must be joking.... but then they haven't been to Arillas (and perhaps we don't want to share it with everyone!).
So, I've sort of opted out of a favourite! Love everything at Brouklis and Efi's. Had lovely lunches at Seabreeze (never remember the new name).
Have never been to Vavilas(?) but after reading all your fantastic reviews about it we're definitely going to try it this Sept. Always just seems a walk to far.... but this year we're staying at Bardis Sun Studios so I suppose no excuse!
-
Daisyday you have just disqualified yourself, Phil's rules say you can only pick one meal only....Lol
Val x
-
Massive Grilled Pork Chop, chips, fresh tomatoes and peppers, at the Rainbow.
Delicious
-
Kleftiko by Vangelis at The Mirage to die for.
-
Like everyone else says never had a bad meal anywhere in Arillas but the feta in the oven followed by Sea Bream and cheesecake at Vavillas served by the pink croc wearing Tomas and his lovely family mouth watering now cant wait to sample the delights again in August
-
Pat and I are going for the feta in the oven for starter monk fish followed by yoghurt and strawberry's at Vavilas. Add a carafe of wine around 20 euros for two people. Think we need to book in future.
Barry.

It is testimony to the huge range of great food available in Arillas, that 40 people chose 25 different meals in 14 different tavernas as their all time favourite meal. All who voted have eaten from tens to over a hundred meals from which they were forced to choose their all time favourite.
Not a scientific survey, but boy does it highlight one of the enduring attractions of Arillas. The food.
Phil
-
Well done Mr Survey Monkey for generating a little fun and nonsense. Also a pat on the back to the 40 who took time to vote :-)
Brouklis - what a worthy winner of the taverna serving the most favourites.
So what's for February...best drink?
-
simple ............ ALCOHOL ! he he
-
Pina Colada at Ammos...mmmmmm...
-
Mine too Jo - except never had one at Ammos. Usually I get Pina Coladas from the Coconut Bar.
-
The first one after I arrive.
'Doesn't matter what or where, as long as it's ARILLAS!!!!
-
A good malt over crushed ice.
-
Ouzo over ice for both of us when in Arillas. It never tastes the same anywhere else.
Val n Bill x
-
Have you ever tried Ouzo with cloudy lemonade Val n Bill? Its great as a long drink although it doesn't last long when I'm in Greece. But as you say it just doesn't taste the same back in Blighty
Tab
-
Have had it with lemonade but not the cloudy one, we both drank it with water until a couple of years ago but as you get older your tastes change. Lol..the glass is usually empty before the ice melts 😃
Val x
-
Ouzo should always be with water or maybe just ice.........
...... but I have just started taking it with Coca-Cola. - Hmmmmm! One has to experiment sometimes.
Ref Fav. meals. - We make a point , over the Summer, to visit every place in Arillas at least once. - So many favourites , so little time!
(And then no Ouzo , it's always Retsina. - Ahhhh, Retsina - Puts a shine on yer kidneys and turns yer liver blue!)
Negg
-
Sonia my first piņa colada mixed by Perry in the Coconut always is the best and he has it waiting for me but the ones at Ammos are extra special (don't tell him though!) the Horizon ones are also amazing. I desperately want to like ouzo (as well as olives) but I just can't ... Mick however lives or but usually has his with water in a tall glass and swears they are great for an upset stomach....hmm
-
Obviously Mythos needs a mention, they even sell it in UK now but just like ouzo it doesnt taste the same here. Will be keen to try out these beers the micro brewery has on offer. Yammas!!
-
Off subject but the Micro Brewery is well worth a visit and after a look round you can sit outside and try a few.
Negg
-
I have ouzo with lemonade whilst getting ready to go out for our evening meal. Its funny how we all develop these little routines/habits.
-
Another two favourites , with some Greeks, are Retsina and Sprite or Retsina with Coke.
And.......... you would be surprised at many of them who pay a visit or two to Chinatown, Sidari, for a Chinese!!
We use it in the Winter and very busy at Weekends.
Cheers

-
I started on Ouzo and Lemonade many years ago and have progressed to straight Ouzo with ice now . I am not sure if that a good or bad thing !!!! LOL
-
Truth, if you've developed that far then drink it straight from the freezer and down in one. Will knock your socks off after a few lol!!
SoniaP, a lady after my own heart, thats exactly what I do. And then sitting on your balcony/patio later on watching the stars with more of the same!!
-
I'm with Truth.
Ouzo with ice, nothing better to sit and watch the sunset with, as long as I'm in Greece. As others have said it just doesn't taste the same at home.
