Title: Cycle hire
Post by: tim71149 on July 08, 2012, 06:49:37 PM
Coming to Arillas in 3 weeks for our first visit. I wonder if it is possible to hire bicycles in the village?

Arkokal Travel in Arillas have bikes...you could email them for details... http://arkokal.gr/

Also, on the outskirts of Arillas and opposite the Tria Adelphia apartments there is a little kiosk which also rents out mountain bikes.

Sorry but I don't have details of the rental charges.

Tim,

If you are into cycling you might be interested in a tour up Pantokrator (the highest peak in Corfu) to be held in the first week of August.  The guides are all experience riders...if this is something that might interest you I can send you details. :-)

Hi Geraldine,

I don't have any details yet as the tour is being put together at the moment.  I will pass on your email address to the organiser (Andy) to contact you direct.

Eileen.

Eileen, absolutely no idea about the kiosk! I would want to know the bikes were well maintained wherever I was hiring one from, and as Tria's right opposite thought they would know all about it as guests must ask them about bike hire all the time. No inferences intended!

Thanks Eileen.

I am planning a steady early run up to Pantokrator for club cyclists or more experienced.

This would be 29th July and during August.

Can tailor a short ride around Arillas if anyone is interested and you will need to hire from local as posted.

But can send a guide to Arillas and take you on whatever tour you choose.

Regards.

Andy.

Check your brakes well though. The first time I hit the brakes on mine I found that the back brake was no where near as good as the front one. I ended up going over the handlebars on a flat road, during the day, completely sober and I cycle pretty much every day. My bike was from San Steph though. One of the pedals also fell off, which reduced it's usefullness!!

Haha Will. Sorry really shouldn't laugh put the pedal coming off must have been the last straw!! Mick had a close shave last year, he hired a scooter and went over to San Stef and noticed a funny smell, luckily wasn't going too fast and just in time he noticed some fishing line was strung across the road and was cutting through the rubber on handle bars and into his arm. When he went back to Arkokl and the owner went speeding off back to San Stef with him and was going mental!!

I also managed to lose a flip flop (I knew I should have taken 3 pairs), break a hair brush and fall over and split my head open. Besides that it went pretty well :)

I bet John the Ref nicked your flip flop - he's been looking for one for years....

Maybe, it was a bit of a mystery. If I'd have known, he could have had the one that I had left!!
