Title: Christos Apartments
Post by: andyv1968 on August 20, 2009, 05:15:35 PM
Have booked to stay at Christos apartments in May 2010 after seeing some good reviews but have since seen some really bad ones too! Has anyone stayed there lately and what did you think of them?

They always looked a bit far away for us, not far from the junction of Arillas and San Stef. if I am correct, someone will put me right if not..  they seem very exposed to all from the road, not very private and very small and equi distanct between San Stef. and Arillas.  If you dont mind walking you will be ok.  Cant say what they are like inside tho.

hi guys
i have booked for next may and also have read some good but some negative reviews, i have been to arillas before and the hill doesn't bother me, i  was looking forward to actually staying in arillas again, as we  have stayed in San Stef the past few years and just walked over the hill
have we made a boo boo ? we were both looking forward to maybe seeing the fireflies,  as we have never been  to Corfu in may before. arillas was our 1st experience of Corfu and we fell in love with the corfiot laid back way of life

For a San Stef veteran, Christos is in the perfect position at the top of the hill in Arillas and ready for the walk down to San Stef. The apartments are typically basic Greek, and there is a lovely pool. Hosts Angela and mum Spiridoula are always there to help. We have known many in our time who adore staying there and write rave reviews. Jen and me always used to stay a little way down the hill with Alex. A bit further down the hill from there would find the adorable Anna's studios. Corfu Xenos is the agent for Alex - lovely family apartments where we have stayed twice. It is the only place we have been twice because we want to support all of the owners.

I have copied my personal message to you, you should read it to know why there is a coldness about this subject. But you can make an amazingly good holiday there if you understand that Arillas is basically honest, full of integrity and giving. They have given us two some of the happiest times of our lives.

Talking food dearest, there are some mustn't misses. The garlic prawns at Graziella are to DIE FOR.  Everyone loves Brouklis' spit roast lamb but I can't endorse - so busy with their sofrito and bourdetto. You mustn't miss a meal at Brouklis. The stamna at Portofino, the Sea Bream or medley at Vavilas. The fried Perch at Thalassa. Oh and.... and...... I defy you not to put on weight. Some of the best food on the planet to be had here. No, I am just a customer...

Hi everyone

Not been on here for a while, but don't suppose anybody missed me!!

Not really allowed to comment on Christos on here but Arillas is great, you can always visit all  the other bars/resturants and the beach.
I have followed Phils example and sent you personal messages so you can see why there is a 'coldness' as Phil puts it.

Hi Sammy1. So agree with Eggy. Whether you're a forum windbag with 2000 posts or just the odd one every few months it always makes a nice change to hear from someone now and then. Hope you get to Arillas soon. Like us you are just drawn to it.

Best wishes

Dear Friends and relatives,

You should be free to tell your stories and express your experiences with other readers of the Arillas forum.
I’m neither trying to support anyone’s view or opinion about specific businesses or persons of Arillas, nor to be the “Devil’s advocate, but…. before you post something in public you must think of the consequences for and impact on the people in Arillas.

You may in that way try to ruin someone’s business because he ruined yours or that you may have other personal reasons not to recommend someone’s accommodation for the above reasons but, remember,… the only person that has his full personal details exposed on this forum is me  who is also responsible for anything that is published on these pages.

If  you wish to contribute in this way to our community without having me or others  interfere each time, WOULD YOU DO IT openly by adding your Real  full name and address, Tel number and  email  under your signature under every post , as I do within my posts.
Any recommendations welcome.

many thanks to all who have contributed to my info on arillas...as everyone seems to think easyjet are pretty good, think we'll try and travel independantly next year...this years flight were a bit steep when we were booking last week...hence the package deal.
olympic will not give us any assistance with getting mum down the dreaded hill but have offered to change our destination on corfu to somewhere a bit flatter without any admin charges...kind of them eh?  if we cancel they will not refund so we're a bit trapped...have asked to transfer to st. george south for this year..thinking sensibly (for a change) hubby has high blood pressure, i've just had a major op and our sons in plaster so maybe the other resort will be better for us this year...if they grant it of course...just waiting to hear....we'll be back though as arillas forum has captured our hearts.
many thanks to all of you and hopefully we'll meet next year
with love and all best wishes

Karen, at least you didn't find out after being there for 24 hours. Arillas can offer any holiday maker anything. If you want to laze on a lovely safe beach or by a pool, if you want quiet romantic, if you want loud and raucous, if you want to put on 7kg in weight, if you just want to spend your time nattering to old friends whom you rarely see... it is all available. The forum can be a godsend into finding out how to do them. In our own ways we are a body of expert knowledge about just about every aspect of what has become our favourite place on earth. Maybe we should persuade the tour operators to use us to answer questions.

Ag Gorgeous (as i call it) is also lovely, as in San Stef. When Jen and I get there permanently, we will visit them more often. Last year in 6 weeks, we spent 6 hours away from Arillas in Ag Georgios. And we weren't really sure we wanted to - just felt we had to.

With all your barriers to get round, I am glad you have got a solution. Would be much better for you if they put you in Mirage, right on the front. But that is with Thomas Cook so no chance. Or Kaloudis - that is with Thomsons I think.

Sorry to go on and on, but I just HATE it when people can't share my experience of hillidays (sorry - cheap joke - holidays) in Arillas.

Dimitris, I know how difficult it is for you and how many hours of worrying about this sort of thing you have to spend. But I believe you have achieved an instinctive and balanced result. You always seem to get it right.

The forum has been described as an "Arillas Worship Clique" and at the other end "My Winter Lifeline." I rather subscribe to the latter but could be accused of the other one. Well, as you know, I worship Arillas. I have read many negative reports on the forum but nowhere near as many of them as the joyous "I will be back" kind.

I make a special effort to look after newcomers to Arillas and the forum, as all your regulars do. I just hope they can share in what we all have, like those who have moved there for good. Surely that is what we are about?

I agree about expressing honest opinions as I have said at length (ha ha - me again - mark it as read!) in many other threads. How can things get sorted otherwise? But when it could result in Court Cases of any description it is time to keep it off the forum. After all the plaintiff's case might be undermined, let alone prejudice of the defendant's case and justice might not be done.

Your forum is a very special thing. It is quite unlike most others, and is here for people to connect with each other. Jen and I have made many lifelong friends as a result of it. I could write a book about that (OH NO!) You must have read how we have connected with many people over just a couple of years. Keep doing the same as you are now. It works.

Phil

Karen, Jen has just picked me up short. She was about to post for you, but realised Ag Geogios SOUTH is much further down the coast from Arillas, it is not my Ag Gorgeous. It will still be good I expect, but I don't know anything about it. Call up a map of Corfu and work you way down the west coast (I think.) It is not in our Paleokastritsa to Acharavi part of Corfu.

Sorry to make more problems - I assumed you meant the next bay round from Arillas, Ag Georgios North.

Corfu will deliver whatever, but I cannot help out of my "comfort zone." Jen has looked up Olympic and suggests you ask about Galini. They don't seem to advertise much but are in a quiet spot, surrounded by plenty of interesting places, opposite Elena Stella where we stayed last September. Very good reviews from BlondeGirl. They might put you there if you make enough fuss. And Fenos might be able to help with it. It will work for you I believe.

So sorry I misled.

Phil

If you want to see what Aghios Georgios South (Argyrades) is like, click the link at the top of this page for the San Stefano webcam. When that page opens there is a link to a webcam at Aghios Georgios South (Argyrades)

Karen,

St. George South has it's own forum and website... http://stgeorgesouthcorfu.webs.com/

If Olympic are offering you alternative accom' down there you might want to check it out first.

Please keep us updated.

Sorry Phil / Karen - can't help any more than that. It's Arillas that I love, I just happened to spot that link to the web cam and thought it might help.
I did go there once on a quick drive around the island, it looks OK, and it is flat, but thats all I can say.

hi all...have been on the st george website and it looks ok...as you all say it seems fairly flat...have asked their forum for views on food so fingers crossed we will find somewhere that sounds as good as brouklis and graziella...we'll be in arillas or san stef next year though, wheelchair or no wheelchair.
many thanks folks

Karen

As far as my ole brain cells will remember St Geoge south is a short drive to Kavos and Benitses etc. Should you hire a car you can explore these places during the day.
( It's only at night,I think, when life becomes more "Lively" - Aaargh! )

I remember St George south, from many years ago. The beach is and should sill be a big expanse of sand and many Tavernas to chose from. - Have a good un and see you all in Arillas at some very near point in time.

Cheers

Hi Karen at the end of the day you got the tour operator to acknowledge the fact that the holiday you were sold was not suitable for the needs of your family which is whats important here.
By coming on to this forum you were able to make an informed decision based on the knowledge of forum members who have stayed at various locations and some who could empathise with the difficulties encountered when managing a wheelchair.

It may not have been Arillas this time but for all the right reasons, but next time you will now know that by popping on here folks will always help and guide you to the most suitable accommodation to fulfill your holiday needs, which I think is very important when you have to plan a holiday.
Have a fab holiday

Hi Karen,
St George South is lovely so don't worry. It has two long, sandy beaches, lots of bars & restaurants. I believe that it may be the only place that does direct boat trips to Paxos as opposed to going via Corfu Town and at a really good price.  Check out the Kafesas Taverna near Golden Beach, it's fabulous.  You will enjoy it there.

Hi all i have stayed at these apartments twice and have been made to feel welcome on both occasions. I know some people have had problems with certain things but i have never encountered this.
The appartments are basic but clean and for me have been an ideal base for my holidays the last 2 years. Yes the hill can be tough after a few beers but for me it has been worth it. I have always found the people there to be very nice.

We are a couple who like to keep ourselves to ourselves on holiday. Looking at Christos for a base - I like the idea we can walk to both arillas and san steph of an evening  - so more choice. We love walking so the hill wouldn't be a problem. I am more interested in finding out about the rooms. We have an option of booking either a studio for 2 or a studio for 2-3, which is the best for a top floor  balcony with view? Also what are the balconies like, are they private or overlooked by neighbours? best wishes

I stayed in May. Good Base 15 mins to Arillas, maybe 20 to San Stef. I was on my own had lower fllor studio, so no view, Top ones sleep 2-3 so maybe better for view.
Friendly staff and quiet. Balconies are over looked slightly. if you are in the two separate ones view in the pool.
Remember cash or cheques no cash machine in arillas

It is in a perfect position for those who walk. All Greek holiday acommodation is basic and these are no different. Beware of men wanting to borrow money though. They are not truthful and not your friends.  PM if you want details. Or read other threads on here.

Try Alecos Sgouros over the road , ask for Effie. www.corfuxenos.gr (http://www.corfuxenos.gr)or book at Anna (studios) just down the road. If you want to know more please send me a message on here. I answer all of them.
