Post by: janet mcewan on July 11, 2009, 04:21:26 PM
just back from having spent two wonderful weeks in arillas it was so peaceful and quiet, we stayed at the beautiful villa linakis again so peaceful and quiet the villa became like our home for the two weeks we spent there, eileen has thought of everything to make your holiday most enjoyable, neil and wendy are wonderful and so was heather if they can help you in any way they will, will definetly go back to arillas

We met Eileen and Keith this morning. We already knew them from arillas.com but in the flesh they are as lovely as you describe, a frigging gorgeous pair of people. Book next year if you get the chance....

Hi Janet

Talk to me if you need prices for land n building and then keep fingers crossed that you can win the lottery.
( Doesn't have to be first prize and a Thunderball win would be enough! )

Eileen and Keith are lovely people but when they stay at the Villa? - Well...........
Late night parties, Sidari complaining about the noise, finger smudges on windows.
Keith,on the balcony, taking pot shots at Tourists, with an air gun, as they drive past!
Eileen throwing lemons at the locals-Must be the Retsina consumption that does that.
and.....not only that, they're making a mess of my pool tiles
Come back the last guests, that's all I can say.
( Will i STILL HAVE A JOB IF EILEEN READS THIS ? )

Cheers
Negg

Not least by us Lynn meluvver. Eggy was in cracking form this afternoon, and Spiros swore that Wendy would kill him when he got home. I told him to blame me but that is wearing a bit thin these days.... even my awful reputation can't save him now!

As for the parties there's too many to choose from. A VERY tall night in the Nut (often interrupted by the karaoke from next door....) Our mates have got used to us again. Even Hannah gave in and had a dance with me. And a certain TerryW whisked me round the floor. (Off the floor??) What an awful sight we must have made....

Yesterday blew me away. Today I am almost back together. It took 5 Mythos and 5 hours in the Rainbow. And my Jen of course. And Liz and Joe we met for the first time. They'll never be back then... (er they have already booked!)

Wendy it was all his fault. Hang him out to dry. Jen and me will come along and watch.... Enjoy your evening meluvvers. have you found the JellyBaby with chilli in yet??

Eileen meluvver if you sack Neill we will never speak to you again (Thank God says she!!!) He is your biggest asset. He means well but like me he's getting on a bit...

Heading for my bomb shelter...
Phil

Jo meluvver, Arillas just wouldn't work without our Eggy. They would all go on strike. If Wendy hasn't strung him up tonight for spending too long with Phil and Jen, we will tomorrow... on her behalf of course!

And BTW - he has never heard of the moon, let alone moonlight. Be careful dear he might find out.....

Oh SHUT UP PHIL. What is it this place does to me?? Someone out there might understand....

...CAN YOU FIND OUT WHY  THE MARINA HOTEL DOES NOT SHOW 2011 ON IT'S WEB

Blimey - nothing like planning ahead, lol.
I wish we were that organised - we've only just sorted out this years holiday, let alone 2010 or 2011!! :)
Seriously tho', Adamcal, I think you'll find that most accomodation can only be booked one year to 18 months in advance at the most. If you wait until the end of this season (November/December), then 2011 will start to show on some sites.

Ah Martha and Janet

It pains me to tell you that all the Ouzo has gone to " A good Home" and the bottle is now waiting to do it's bit in the re-cyling bin.

It was a terrible shame to open it but the responsibility fell to me and it's not like me to let anyone down.

Reports of him having a father who is even worse are grossly exagerrated. Or at least I think so.

Janet - I don't want to make you too jealous but I'm typing this is the bedroom of Villa Linakis to keep out of the late afternoon heat :-)

It's been (and still is) very windy today so we had to head down to Portofino for a leisurely lunch followed by a frappe at Ammos before the slow meander back to the Villa and a swim to cool off again.

As you say Villa Linakis has everything you could possibly want! We rent out holiday property in the Lakes in the UK and I never really understood before why people often say "thank you for letting us stay" in our visitors' book.  Now I have spent a week in Villa Linakis I understand for the first time. It really feels like a privilege to be allowed to stay in such a lovely home.

The villa, the pool, Eileen and everyone who helps her out have been magnificent. The resort itself is ideal - quietish but with enough variety of tavernas and bars to be interesting. and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Villa Linakis. It's not the cheapest option but you really do get what you pay for .

Hmm...  Now I know this thread creep but does anyone know where a good grilled octopus can be had?

Hi Pommie,

Lucky you to be staying at the Villa Linakis, we havent stayed there, but had a nosey when we were in Arillas in June.  It is beautifil isnt it, so peaceful and luxuriant.

Havent had octopus anywhere myself, but if you go down to the village taking the left fork past the Tria, you will see Vavilas fish taverna on the right.  Ask Thomas about octopus, if he doesnt do it, he will probably be able to tell you where.  Vavilas is delicious if you love fish!

Happy holidays

Hi Janet

That sums it up really - a lovely villa in a lovely resort :-) How do you improve on that ???

Ah yes - Octopus :-)

Still can't find any - Thomas at Vavilas (have I spelled that right??) said it was too expensive to get it in! Mind you we had a superb fish dinner there last night - Greek salad, vine leaves then half a small lobster and 3 fish each for the big people and kalamaria and chips for the small person, followed by baklava and lemon cake, and washed down with copious draughts of house wine and lemon fanta (not mixed together obviously) and it came to less than 10 Euro each - amazing!!!

Do they weigh you as well as the bags at the airport? Hope not :-)

Hi Janet
...........Do they weigh you as well as the bags at the airport? Hope not :-)

LOL...fortunately not otherwise I would have had a small fortune to pay this year!

On the far side of Agios Georgios there is a fish restaurant called the Fisherman's Cabin which has grown into a bit of a legend from what I hear.  I've yet to visit but heard yet more rave reviews when over a  couple of weeks ago...http://www.agiosgeorgios.co.uk/fishermans.htm

I'm off to warn your airline to fill up with more fuel next Monday!!! :-o

where about's is your holiday home

We rent out a couple of pine lodges near Windermere - not quite as grand as Villa Linakis I'm afraid to say, and the weather isn't quite as good there at the moment as one of my guests has told me by email. (I'd post the link but I'm not sure if that's allowed round here but if you key Windermere Lodge into Google you'll find us at the top)

Got to go to prepare the lamb chops for tonight's bbq by the pool. Linda is planning on making mint sauce to go with them with fresh mint from the olive grove. Very English aren't we ??? (I'll have to make sure we have some ouzo as well to redress the balance a bit).

I looked hard but couldn't find any thyme -  a suggestion for a new garden pot for you there Eileen.

Title: Re: villa linakis
Post by: Eggy on July 29, 2009, 07:44:49 PM
Mr Pommie

Two problems I see here with the Dartboard.

a. I have trouble now reaching double twenty so this one could be a no hoper.
( And , If I did hit it, how would I retreive the dart? )
b. The standard throw is around 7 ft 9" so this puts the (Oche ) throw line in the pool.

I can't swim. And... If I could, I would be worried that the weight of the tungsten darts would very quickly drag me to the bottom,

Maybe Eileen could build a nice high bridge over the pool and supply a longer ladder!
( Plus a very long straw for the Retsina ! )

I've solved the oche position by importing a lifeguard tower from a beach on Naxos.

I spent last night training the spider monkey and he should now return the darts to you in exchange for ouzo. (I couldn't find any peanuts in the villa)

See you shortly :-)

Could we not train the spider monkey to swap an Ouzo for the darts?

And.... I know you have my well being at heart but, do I have to climb up and down those steps in between throws?

Title: Re: villa linakis

Eggy

The monkey says that from what he's heard he'll need the ouzo if you are throwing darts anywhere near him.

Given the amount of ouzo he'll need to be drinking it's a bit unreasonable to expect HIM to climb the stairs and I hadn't factored in your advanced years into the life guard station thing, so I have now installed a stairlift for you.

Janet, he always needs a couple of heavies. And a wee dram. The staircase is such a good idea. He will stay at the bottom nattering to philandjen instead of scoring all those amazing darts.....

Just love the remodelled Villa Linakis. Very post-modern. Now just think our Eileen, the rental market has been trebled. From just the mad Arillas Addicts, you have now added Baywatch,  Bullseye and Bargain Hunt fans!

All I can say is having met her for the first time, our Eileen is as much a little diamond as the villa is in its setting in Arillas.

Janet, as sad as it is, my time on here is now 38 days and I have made 1940 posts. Like Eileen said, it keeps me going until my next time there. This forum is very important to so, so many. You are now included, obviously. Looking forward to reading many more from you.

We met another member this luchtime in a pub here in Somerset. She will be arriving 9th August for 3 weeks. We had made some arrangements for her when we were in Arillas (at home) two weeks ago. We helped here with information and updates, and she has promised to bring us the latest while she is there. Without the forum we would never have met her. Then add on all the lifetime friends we have made as a result of this website, and it is clear how much we owe our webmaster Dimitris.

It is not a club - anyone can join in.

Sorry to get a bit serious. Must have been a lapse...

Janet, my heart does.

In a while Jen and me will live there from March to November. But the exchange rate ditched that for this year. Next year? We hope so. We can't afford a second house, but meanwhile we have two homes. I sometimes get confused between our Somerset village home and our Corfu village home. We both prefer Corfu.

She will be having delivered, Monday 8 am, 200 litres of white paint and a 25 kilo bag of "hole filler" She requests that you re-instate the wall back to it's former, boring glory before you leave.

The dartboard will need to be taken to the Coconut bar as the "standard" small board they have is not "hit-able" by bleary eyed customers at 3 am in the morning and the Nut wall now looks like a seive. This new bigger board will solve that problem although double 3 may be cause for concern. ( But only for those who can't stand up at 3am )

The stairlift will be collected by Brouklis who will install it, to be ready for Phil n Jen's visit next year. I'm told that the steps to Brouklis Appt are a problem, for them,  at 3am, when they leave the "Nut" , having constantly missed the old dartboard.
(With the new board double 3 will not be a problem for Phil )
Anyway, when they eventually get to the top step it's time to make their way back down again for lunch!

The monkey is a concern as it doesn't have a mate and is likely to become highly strung with no one to look after. It may then start looking for "company"
So, he will be taken away by the "Protection Of Manic Monkeys In Exile" Group
P.O.M.M.I.E for short. - Not anything to do with you I suppose?
I am worried that if it "hangs" around the Villa, after you leave, the Goat Lady could be in trouble one morning! - And maybe the goats as well.

The Retsina will be looked after by my goodself, until I can find a glass large enough to do it justice. However I am concerned that when Sandy next visits any glass of any shape or size will be acceptable. Should this happen then, the following day she will be responsible for taking back the "empty"

So, everything has now been covered, except the wall, that is. And looking on the bright side, you now have the Winter to make plans for said wall next year, on your return.

Cheers
Negg

Eggy - Eileen was hoping that the monkey could be trained to do changeovers, but I told her it's a skilled job that needs a man of your talents (and a lady of Weggy's too obviously).

I'm still not sure what to do with the baywatch tower when I go. Perhaps I could move it to a strategic spot at the front of the villa for chucking lemons at noisy motorcyclists?

Pommie

Monkey doing changeovers ? - He'll be paid more than me!

Keith may think the "Baywatch Tower" a good idea. Maybe he could switch to chucking lemons. ( I thnk his air rifle has always beena bad idea )

Hi Janet - we still are enjoying it !!!

For some reason I woke with rosy fingered Dawn this morning (don't tell Linda) and I am sitting on the upstairs balcony drinking in the peace and quiet of a glorious Greek morning (well actually the crickets have started and the cocks are crowing so it's not strictly quiet any more)

You people swimming along the pavements in England will be pleased to hear that we have one or two clouds here today (just the odd picture book cotton wool balls though)

Ready to start another day in Paradise - and looking forward to the festival tonight

Eggy

I got up early and did the tidy up so Eileen will let me stay again.

I thought there was one final embellishment that might make changeovers more bearable for you though:

I'm not sure where to put the stools, but I'm sure you'll work something out

Just love it Pommie. The Coconut will forever more be known to me as Eileen's Bar. As for the stools, try the way Marina Pool Bar does - in the water....

Thanks to you and Eggy for brightening up a depressing homecoming from Arillas to floods, aggravation and such like. Enjoy every minute of the festival, and have one for PhilandJen.

I am not alone in being obsessed, an anorak, an Arilliac, but have also met many wonderful like minded people on here. I can already tell how hooked yous are.

Pommie - please take pctures at the festival. I'll put them on here of you have any difficulty.

Guess who was daft enough to leave the camera at home last night? And whilst I do enjoy the constitutional effect of the ascent of Mount Linakis on the way home (as it justifies the extra Metaxa at the end) I wasn't going up there and back on a very warm night to get it I'm afraid.

Anyway I saw Dimitris snapping with a camera that looked like small tank so I imagine he will today be posting on several "folkloric" pictures that will be rather better quality than I would have managed (especially as I discovered the blonde Ionian from the local brewery last night.)

The place was HEAVING with locals and tourists. Well done to the organisers it was great success.!

Right - off now to enjoy our last day (sob)

ENJOY YOUR LAST DAY, POMMIE!

Well it's not our last day as we've decided to stay. We've laid in provisions from the Mini Market to last at least a month  (although getting all those bottles of Metaxa to the villa was quite a job), and we've set up battlements, barricades and man traps .

We've stocked all three balconies with lemons from the garden and we're ready to fight off Eggy and Weggy when they arrive to turf us out. The battle of Villa Linakis will go down as one of the great sieges in the annals of the island of Corfu.

How DO you leave a place as beautiful as this ???

It looks like Eilen and Keith will be paying "overtime" tomorrow then.

I tried to enlist the help of some Greek locals to storm the castle but they can only be there by 4 pm at the earliest, and that's not guaranteed! Maybe Tuesday. ( or avrio )

The only either idea I have would be to open that newly built bar and entice you out.

I see you've put in "Man Traps" - Hope that goat lady isn't one of those!

Thanks for the good wishes. We've all gone a bit less perky here tonight too - one last dinner then home to bed (yes it's been a real home for us these last 2 weeks Eileen) and then up early to be evicted by those cruel Eggy people.

Eggy - the man traps are in the form of a bevy of nubile young ladies with skirts like belts specially brought in from the bars of Arillas. The goat lady did audition, but sadly she just didn't have the right costume.

Well, we said our goodbyes to "Pommie" this morning. ( John , Linda and Thomas )

Yet another sad day for us to say goodbye to yet another lovely family.

Villa Linnakis, seems to be like that Circus Tent after all the guests have left and the clowns n acrobats n jugglers etc are sleeping. A lttle eerie and desperately needing some extra life injected. That will be this afternoon and we stayed on to meet the new guests who are, we believe, some more very good "Lookers After" of a very good place to stay.

But, we'll miss Pommie as we miss Janet n Martha n all. It's amazing to think that we get paid a salary by Eileen n Keith for what is a major part of our enjoyment in Arillas.

Safe and non delayed journey home "Pommie" and look forward to many banters on the forum. - You have all made many friends here. - DONCHYERKNOW!

Well a long day's travelling had brought us back home.

We started off by being gently eased out of Villa Linakis by Eggy and Weggy and spent our last couple of hours making a new friend of the lovely Isabella down at the Elena Stella apartments where we had a splash in the huge pool and a leisurely lunch as we talked about her fabulous Greek wedding.

We were then whisked off by taxi to Corfu Airport and, being dropped at the Departures door found our check in queue and settled down for the wait. After  a few minutes a check in troll in Olympic Airways get up told us we had just pushed in. We explained that we had walked in a few minutes ago and joined the back of the queue. She told us we should have joined a different queue that stretched around the building somewhere else. At this point Linda gave here her best basilisk stare and, to cut a long story short, we ended up staying where we were, in spite of check in troll #2 joining in and making an even bigger fuss. She too got the Gorgon treatment, which at least saved me having to explain in my best management consultantese that if you are going  to try to have a system it's best not to leave socking great holes in it through which innocent people can pass, and then try to make them feel bad just because you are too incompetent to run a chip shop.

When we finally got to the check in desk we found that we had magically acquired 8 kilos of luggage since the way out which put us 4Kg over weight between the three of us and meant that they wanted us to pay 40 euros extra.

We then had great fun moving stuff from our cases to our hand luggage, putting on my jacket and stuffing the pockets with books, getting it all reweighed, getting a very grumpy look from check in  troll # 3 when it worked out OK and then (stupidly enough) moving it all back to the original cases under her nose before putting it the through security scanner. What a waste of time THAT was :-)

Anyway, in spite of that we had a lovely last day. We were very sorry to say good bye to Eggy and Weggy, but we'll see you again next year!

Pommie we so identify with all that. You have entertained us Arilliacs so comprehensively this last week, we all owe you a massive vote of thanks. You have sussed Eggy out (it took us a while) and have sampled all that Arillas has to offer. Well actually, Jen and me could give yous a few lessons in that department...

I just want to say that Eileen picks her guests well - yous and Janet have been fabulous. Just because you're back in Blighty, don't forget us lot. You are so part of it all now.

Join us on the forum. Post rubbish like I do. They now say "Oh it's him again. Mark it as read." But the point is how Arillas, that quiet little fishing village in NW Corfu has hundreds of Addicts. You have tasted it. Never let it be said you have wasted it.

Hi Pommie,

It's good to hear you arrived home safely, although you do have me a little worried.  Each time I head to Corfu airport for my journey home I psyche myself up for the 'troll treatment' only to slip into departures unnoticed and unchallenged...does that mean I have a permanent Gorgon face?!!!

yes I was Pommie and Anne. Can't stand the stuff myself, but Glastonbury is well known for it. Eggy is from Somerset so I was just joking about it. In Glastonbury town centre once, the police had to dig up one of the town grdens, where all the plants had been replaced with the stuff overnight. We just laughed at it all. Hope no offence taken - none was meant.

One more serious point though, our friend with MS finds the mild stuff a real help with pain relief.

I came home with a piece of beef and a piece of pork! - Funny 'ole game.

Very good to welcome back to Arillas/Linakis one of our favorite familes yesterday.
Don't forget Pommie/John that time is what Wegg and I have so if you need anything at all..
And..... Get that Hammock working.
And..... The goat lady was asking about you..... Hmmmmm!

Cheers

The hammock is now well stretched Eggy.

Thanks for your kind offer - if you happen to be passing and can sling us a 6 pack of mineral water I'll settle up with you when I see you ;-) No panic as we have some, but it would save carting it up the hill.

Now what did I do with that G&T with Linakis lemon. Ah yes it's waiting for me by the pool. It's a hard life but someone has to live it :-)

I can't believe I missed this thread....

I've just read it from beginning to end as Barry was going to watch the Holland v Uruguay match and I'm still laughing now!!

Thank you all for your very funny contributions!   Barry and I would love to stay at Villa Linakis but would need to get a few family members or friends together first.  We walked (uphill!) past it in May and it looks absolutely fabulous!!!

We'll be in Arillas at the end of September (the same time as Viv and Pete) so looking forward to meeting Neil and Wendy for the first time

Yammas!

Start saving now Janis - It really is worth it :-)

It's even better now there's wifi (well for us nerds anyway) as I can easily tell you all that I've been doing nothing all day. Time for breakfast - yoghourt and honey  watching the swallows drink from the pool today I think. Then maybe a lazy couple of hours reading before a stroll up to the big supermarket in the village up the hill to see if I can find some beefburgers for small person to sling on the barbie.

By the way - what do you think of these 3 extra guests on the balcony upstairs - they're noisy but sweet :-)

Well I did wonder whether they were for real or an addition like the flag/dartboard, etc... !! I had to ask Barry to confirm as it looked like they were grinning through big white teeth...lol

Have you tried the special burgers at Horizon?  We used to have them for lunch - fantastic! In fact when we return in September we're staying at the Horizon hotel.

Would really love to stay at Villa Linakis, though - and will start saving (??) - honest!

Enjoy your holiday

We haven't tried Horizon yet Janis. So many places...so little time....

See what you mean about the teeth :-)

Here's one of the parents queuing to feed them - you can see the other parent's tail already there feeding them.

Not a good time to be a flying insect...

Pommie, when you go to the Horizon (and it really is a must) have the chocolate souffle afterwards.  Divine! And you MUST have an after dinner drink on the balcony....

I'm lucky in that I don't particularly like desserts (I know - strange woman!) but usually have starter and mains.  Must be the wine that puts the inches on my waist!

So windy today! We ended up down on the beach round the headland covered in green mud and then wave jumping and snorkelling in the sea (surprisingly clear given the waves). Great fun. The walk around the points is about the same as last year. As usual there were loonies climbing over the cliff face apparently unaware that it is about as solid and reliable to stand on as the filo pastry on the spanakopita I bought at the bakery on the way home. Watching them do it is not a great spectator sport... Too tense...

We're worried about the baby swallows in the eaves - if they try to fly for the first time in this wind they'll have no chance! They keep fluttering their wings like mad so it won't be long now.

We've noted the Horizon for a visit but we thought we'd better pay homage at Brouklis first :-)

I was lucky enough to have a guided tour of the villa when I was in Arillas last October. I must say I was impressed and would love to stay there with my family.

Now then. are you sure we are not related Janis?  I feel sure there must be a some link somewhere I feel as though we could be related !!!???

When are you free ... September is good for me too?   well what a coincidence get it booked and we will settle up when we get there !!

Cheers Nan

Hi John,

So sorry you have been having a problem sending an email...or rather I've had a problem receiving them.  My computer has been down for just over a week but all is back to normal today...thank goodness.

I've just received an email which I guess is from you...I'll get onto it straight away.

Nan...we'd love to have you...xxx

Hi Eileen, thanks for your response. We often walk past your place going up the hill, then turn right into the olive grove and walk across to the afionas road before dropping back down to tria adelphia for frappe's with Phil. As we go past we always talk about the peace and tranquility of the place, so really want to visit at some point. Nic is asleep after 13 hours saving lives, so when she wakes I'll let her know we've heard from you and be back in touch.
Thanks again
john

Hi John,

After the long hours and stress of Nic's job I'm sure a little peace and tranquility wouldn't go wrong.  Fortunately the villa is within easy reach of Arillas to dip your toes into for a little bit of gentle razz and to catch up with all your friends. :-)

Well that's you sorted Heather...there's Nan and also Janis looking to share...I'm sure we can ask Neill to sort out the copious amount of wine that would be required ;-)

Hopefully see you next year.

Ha ha Nan - sorry, but we're already booked for September, staying at Horizon. Arriving the same day as Viv and Pete and leaving the day after them

BUT would love to see Villa Linakis "for real" with a view to visiting soon though!

We could be related - but only if you're a Yorkshire lass through and through ???

Eileen and Keith's Villa Linakis is a very special place. There is a sort of magic about it. Many posts on here have strengthened that point of view. The pictures that Pommie posted on this thread did too. Another part of our Arillas.

Eggy - I'm a bit concerned that the goat lady hasn't appeared yet this week. Linda thinks you may have spoken to her (in that fluent greek you use at the supermarket) about my passion and that she has spent the last 4 days preparing herself.

Should I expect her to appear on tractorman's vehicle at the weekend garlanded with summer flowers and followed by the entire village singing Greek bridal hymns?

Also Linda has succumbed to a sort of Gerald Durrelesque fantasy and is walking round the beautiful garden wearing a floppy hat and dead heading plants like a mad thing. I told her to leave the olive tree.

She already had a rather dishy Greek bloke stop on his Honda 50 and ask her questions in Greek. We have no idea what he was saying / proposing but she did enjoy the attention :-)

She wanted to know if it is OK to water the ones that are looking a bit thirsty, but was worried to do do in case you are on a meter and would prefer her not to.

Post by: Eileen on July 10, 2010, 12:15:53 PM
Pommie....if per chance the dishy Greek happens to call again please ask Linda to pass my number on once she's finished with him.... ;-)

Could be something to do with the air up there - or quite possibly the effect of Greek wine - but I too love to switch off and wander around dead heading.  Please thank Linda for me and yes it's fine to water the plants, they and me will much appreciate it. :-)

Eileen.

Once she's finished with him he will be ready for dead-heading too Eileen.

Linda will be very excited to have watering rights. She just need a black-and-white ruffed lemur and her fantasy world will be complete.

er hang on ... I'm getting a feeling of deja vu coming on now.

If you want to see how the swallows are doing check out my posts on Eileen's Villa Linakis Facebook page

(Just search for Vila Linakis on Facebook and look at the Villa Linakis and Others tab)

They are so cute - all 3 have fledged now and are busy flying around being taught what to do by Mum and Dad.

Their swallow tails seem to have grown overnight from the little stubs they had yesterday!

Well it's been a wonderful few days - great meals and barbques and a boat trip. We especially enjoyed dinner at Horizon with our friends Liz and Garry who joined us this week. The young waiter with the very tight white jeans sent Linda into a flutter when he promised her "I'll be your lover in England now" whilst I was videoing the scene. It was only when she asked him to repeat himself (as she wanted to to be sure she was onto a goodthing), that we realised he had said, looking at the video camera, "I'll be all over England now". Linda had gone all girly and embarrassed so she must have been getting all excited, but a return visit won't be happening as she lost a crown whilst eating a sandwich on our boat trip and we we don't think it's a very good look for attracting handsome Greek waiters. We did manage to sample the chocolate suffle though and it's as good as was promised!

The boat trip was great and we found a fantastic fish taverna on the beach at St Georges.

Tonight we are planning on dropping in on Costas on the Beach. We like the  "cover charge for dread" on the menu there.

The villa is as wonderful as we remembered it and Eggy and Weggy have been so kind and helpful. Eileen you have two real diamonds there!

We are counting down now - last full day tomorrow, but it's been another great Villa Linakis experience.

Back home now :-(

We ended up at Portofino for our last meal out and were entertained by Spiros's banter whilst we filled up on stamnas and corfu chicken. Both highly recommended! Portofino takes our vote this year for favourite restuarant. The huge bunch of flowers and basil from the garden that Spiros put in front of Liz was such a lovely gesture!

It was sad to say goodbye to Villa Linakis again - it is SUCH a beautiful place. We've heard that the next guests are a bit suspect, but we're sure that Eggy and Weggy will keep them under control.

Eggy - don't forget to ask Rula how they do that spicy chicken and those pork kebabs at the supermarket please!

Sad to say that goat lady seems to have done a flit - she was part of the holiday last year. Otherwise everything was lovely again.

Anyway I hope you all enjoy your holidays as much as we enjoyed ours!

Pommie, I live just up the hill from Eileen and the goat lady was around a few weeks ago when I was there. If it is the same person, she has short black hair? The goats terrorise me when I drive down my track because they are tied up on a rope and I am always worried I'll strangle them when I drive across it!!

Yes Sandy that's the same goat lady, alas it sounds like she has moved to pastures new.  Like Pommie...the goat lady, the tractor man and his wife are all part of our Arillas experience...who needs a clock on holiday...we can set the time by our neighbours daily routine.

Pommie we intend to follow on in the spirit which you stayed here...we will drink, eat and party well! :-)  (notice which came first on the list!)  I hate to rub it in but  we were swimming in the pool at 10pm... round about the time when you were on your way home ;-)

Thanks for looking after the villa so well for us,  it was smiling very happy with contentment when we arrived...happy to know it has help share the love of Arillas (LOL...I sound like Phil there...)

We agree with your sentiment...Neill and Wenders are a couple of diamonds-we would be lost without them.
