Hi All,

Does anyone know what the exchange rate was in Arillas today. It appears to have gone down a bit back home.

I got 1.14 the other day from my local Thomas Cook branch, commission-free.  They matched the best online quote.

Sunfun

Just in case you mis-read my post. It's e 1.144. I'll try and see what's on offer today.

The commission charge is usually 2% whether cash or T/C's.
Cheers

That's good news and a good pointer to Sept. It could mean that the exchange in Arillas could be around e 1.20 at that time.  Nationwide users,in Sept, could also have a field day as they pay no commission on withdrawals.

Cheers

We got 1.16 and no commission (in spite of the earlier posts on the forum) on our Nationwide FlexCard four weeks ago. Sadly that long ago. The headline was 1.12. Thanks again Sandy - best thing we ever did. Well nearly....

We used the Arillas ATM for all of it, with no problems at all.

When we were in Arillas in July/Aug we hired a moped one day and went into Sidari (to browse the jewellers for a wedding pressie:-)) - not that I need to make an excuse you'll understand - anyhow, the point I am (eventually) making is that they were showing 1.18 in their exchange places. Not sure of their commission etc but worth a visit if you were going that way.

Sidari is a good exchange rate Jo but some of the places charge 2.5% not 2% as in Arillas.

( I saw e1.25 on a window in Acharavi last week and got really excited .... Then realised the place was closed so it must have been the leftovers from last year )
Whoops!

I did a similar thing Negg with the petrol station on the way down towards Skripero.....thought it looked a jolly good price for petrol until I realised it had closed down and it was last year's prices!

We're off on our Spain/France trip on Monday and ordered ours online from Travelex - we got 1.12 and no commission and delivered to our house. We could have got a better rate from Crown Currency but insufficient time.
The rate in Arillas seems pretty good, but there's the commission to consider
