There are some lovely photos and a short history of Afionas on this forum.. http://www.afionas.gr/eng%20history.html.. I was interested to learn that Louloudi is the name of the place where my favourite bench is. (I can't get near my other bench in Arillas for these two squatters Phil & Sandy ;-) )
Enjoy,
Eileenxx
A fascinating link Eileen....thank you. If you are very good, Phil and I will squeeze up to make room for you too on our bench....xx
Hi, Eileen. Just clicked on your link- was it me, or was that difficult reading? Got the gist of it,tho. Think I`ll dig into Arillas history now.

Eileen, thank you for the link, you have just reminded me about the festival of St John which is on the 24th June in Afionas and we will be in Arillas then so we will be going again. The last time we went was a few years ago and it was magic.
Thanks once again, Mick.

Eileen
Iwould not be too sure about this, The bench has got a camera positioned on it and if you are seen going within ten yards of it an alarm sounds and you hear recorded messages saying approach at your own risk?
LOL..John...I'd better make sure I've got a 'carry-oot' with me to bribe them with!!!

Our favourite benches too Eileen... there are more than one now on the top of that cliff... I have Mike sitting on that bench in a photo for my screenesaver... brilliant reminder of the views! Definately worth the walk to Afionas!
GET OFF OUR BENCH!!!!
Afionas is a gorgeous place to be and to spend time. The link that luvver Eileen posted is definitely worth visiting. Thanks darling - we really enjoyed looking at it all.
But the bench is now the subject of liturgation. Sandy, Jen and Phil are contesting the ownership. IT IS OURS! I will be starting proceedings to make sure all Arillas Addicts can sit on our bench. Watching Gravia and the sunset. Breathing in the joy and peace our place gives them. But when we arrive they must vacate it. IT IS OURS!
And to remind yous all what we're onabout

I rest my case m'lud. And love to Eileen and Sandy

Oh phil...that picture just brought tears to my eyes....silly I know. But that is what it is all about for me....peace and tranquillity....
and me luvver - in spite of my reputation
eileen ..thanks for the site,,very historical...and what a beautiful village,,,,,i love taking a drive up for a frappe in th hot heat of thr day..fab views........yammas
Your so right Sandy that is what it's all about.
This bench thing has just reminded me of Ivan and Avril, im sure you and some of the other old faithfulls know them. Ivan always had a thing about this peticular chair at a well known tervena being his and I regarded it as mine, in the end we deciced that seeing we were both so fond of it and both Arillas addicts, it would be shared. Ahh but now your saying what happens when your there at the same time again, well next time im going to sit on his lap. Viv
BE CAREFUL PHIL
If everyone gets a chance to share the bench
WILL IT TAKE THE STRAIN?
It's sub judice John, so I can't comment. Sandy keeps it warm for me, I just sit and wallow in Arillas bay, the sun, the sea, the sand, the life. The picture says it all. IT IS OURS!!!
But like I said, yous and Dot can sit there, just vacate it when Sandy, Phil or Jen needs it...
lol
Phil
Plenty of room on there for all of us :) mind you phil might be having a sleep. :)
We sat on it many a time in blissfull ignorance :)
T
HAHA SORRY.
it was meant to say-
I hope you put some money in the meter at the side of the bench :D
NOPE! :)
Me neither. Ours is next to it isn't Lynn :)
oops sorry we claimed the next one along :)
Of course we did, John. Doesn't everyone know that? :D
:D
Its a very interesting site Eileen, but is it History, or is it the Future? The date at the bottom of the page says December 2009 ???
As for the bench in Arillas Phil - no argument over that, but you try taking my table overlooking the beach on the terrace of the Sea Breeze (best place for a sunset with a beer in your hand!) and you'll be hearing from my solicitor. lol :-)
LOL...Geoff, maybe it's anupdated version of Greek Maybe Time!
Phil, Jen & Sandy,
Here is a new contender on the block...tentatively checking out if the ol'worthies are around... ;-)

There goes my version of babysitting! At midnight and deciding on a nightcap I sneaked past Liam's mum and aunty in the Coconut bar and wandered down to Helen's Creperie for a glass of wine...and an ice-cream for the little one.!
