Post by: Mike and Debbie on December 07, 2008, 07:37:02 PM
Hi all,

After many weeks of effort i have finally managed to get the website for the Makris apartments up and running ( i now know how much time and effort Dimitris puts in to this one and i applaud him greatly)
the address is www.makris-arillas.co.uk
Please take time to have a look and any comments, tips or advice will be greatly appreciated.

many Thanks
Mike & debbie

Hi
Think Mike & Debbie have done a good job of showing the Makris to advantage.  The photographs give a perfect idea of what the place is like.
Only critisism is that the pics take a while to load on my 2gig broadband, but have no idea how you can speed them up.  However they are worth waiting for.
Best wishes
PJ

Agreed PJ. It is a good showcase for Makris. Haven't stayed there (yet) but it is in a pefect location for families and gets great reports from those who do stay, like Jo Wissett and family. Sure Jo will add her comments to this.

Sorry folks - liver malfunction...

Was confusing Makris with Marinaki (which is next to Kaloudis and where Jo stays.) Makris is still in a great location and just round the back of Galini and Elena Stella. Have a look on the interactive map. Still a wonderful location for families though - as are all the accommodations in Arillas.

Sorry for my absent-minded moment (senior???)

hear hear Eggy. Makris is round the corner from the beach and everything else in Arillas. Perfect holiday destination. I would stay there. Maybe that would put some off, but I mean it. We won't be there in 2009 so get booking! We will be at kaloudis...

First time in Arillas was Makris. Loved it, and especially watching the bats come n go.

Thought I'd share a picture taken in May this year just a little up the hill from the Makris.  You should be able to make out the two other sets of apartments mentioned above - Kaloudis Village, and Marinaki.

I notice that the Makris no longer appears on the Thomas Cook website.
Does this mean they have gone completely independent, instead of partly which was mentioned in a thread in September?

Hi,

The Makri family were just going to do half the apartments independantly and leave the others with TC. I will get in touch with them and see if this has changed. Maybe TC are not promoting them as much as before due to the way they are now paying the owners.

thanks

Excellent job Mike & Debbie - well done to you both!

I've just had a look around & it's really tempting. Having recently discovered that Easyjet are now flying from Bristol to Corfu the costs aren't nearly as daunting as I feared they would be this year.
We'll certainly consider staying here - thanks very much :-)

Interesting that Makris give their prices in £ not €. This is of course going to be worth considerably less to the owners than they may have thought when they fixed their prices......

That's a very good point Sandy - I hadn't thought of that :-)

Hi,

I noticed your points about the pounds and this is because it is me who will be paid and i transfer the money to the family so they get euros. It is just easier for us as we don`t have to work out exchange rates.

thanks

I notice that the price for a week in June has gone up by £40, inflation gone mad eh?
Can't blame them I suppose.

Spooky! I've not long ago e-mailed them for a quote for 10 nights in June.

Hi everyone,

No not inflation gone mad, just the fall in the exchange rate. As we charge in pounds and pay in Euros we had to adjust the price so the Makri family receive the correct amount in Euros.

Thanks
Mike and Debbie

Hi Just got back from the Makris, after two weeks completely relaxing holiday, Went with my wife Diane and my 7 year old daughter Eleanor, this is our 2nd visit there, and we just love the Family at the Makris they are such lovely accomodating people.

I would not hesitate in recommending these apartments to any couples or famiies with young Children. Although I think Arillas itself would be a bit quite for teenagers.

Looked at booking independently but I could not find a better deal than Manos/ Thomas cook we paid  £1050 for the 3 of us peak season, I think we got a free child place.

Arillas is such a breath of fresh air, it`s real tempting to just book again straight away, but if we don`t go backnext year, we most definetly will go back again soon.

PS the website is great although the server is very slow, but I know it cost to get more webspace, so a big well done to all in building the website.

God Bless
