Title: Thalassa Open??
Post by: mbtir on June 01, 2008, 04:31:36 PM
Hi, does anyone know if Thalassa will be opening this year? Coming in next week and really sad to hear that Yanni and Litsa may not be open. So all news gladly received!
Or any contact details, please, as I've emailed Litsa but heard nothing back and would love to met up with them for a beer even if the restaurant wont be open?

Here's hoping!

you and us both, mbtir

have shared many hugs with Giannis and Lista and Spiros. And christmas cards etc. that was how she spelled his name so we've adopted it.

Our Arillas plans for July will have to change if they are not open. We usually spend many hours there eating, chilling, chatting and watching the sun set. Maybe Ang can find out more - there at the moment. Bet you're loving it luvver!

the thalassa's take on greek food is so special. I ate their stamna, fried perch and Jen had another penelope's delight last year - to die for. but they did cook egg and chips for one of our less adventurous friends a while back.........

Total loss  if they don't open. Sadly they are not very computer oriented and can't read this. As viv said earlier in this thread, it is breaking Spiros' heart. Jen and me are there with him on that.

One of mine too, Smiffy, but we went before they opened, and no one else's stuffed peppers are quite the same!

Never mind, good food everywhere in Arillas!

Hello All

Not been around for a while! We went to Thalassa last year and it was an awful meal! Looks as though i am in a minority though! I would go back to see if it was just a one off.

I must admit the Thalassa isnt our favourite either Paul, we havent had a good meal there yet, bit nouveau cuisine for me and not enough of it.  We like it rough and ready... well not as bad as that but you know what I mean, where we feel comfortable if we us our fingers sometimes.   We have only been there because of the jazz nights not because we like the food.  Sorry to offend anyone.

we went nearly everywhere last year and Thalassa and the Marina were the worst meals we had. We loved captains, Brouklis and Costas the most and the onethe opposite way from costas, cant think of the name at the moment. We will try Thalassa again, hope its better!!

Isn't it funny how so many people can have so many different opinions? We tend to have our favourite dishes for different restaurants.  That said, we had raw (ie pink rubbery) chicken at one Taverna that shall remain nameless and we would never go again which is a shame because we had been a few times previously.  'Nowt fussier than folk' we say in these parts!

Yes Jo!

We all have our thing, and if a restauarant can get so many great reviews and so few bad ones it must be good and worth tryng.

Not to push it, but I once had a lobster dish in Boston USA  which cost someone (not me!) a fortune and it tasted like bleached shoe leather. The place was full of people who were saying how good the restaurant was, but like you and others said earlier, I simply ate what I could and said no more in public until now (25 years later).

It is each to their own - Jen hates mashed potatoes and gravy - BG and I both love it going by earlier posts. So the debate will go on forever.

Best wishes
Phil

Isnt the saying "Horses for Courses".. or have I got that wrong... each to their own or something along those lines. We can all have our off days and some days they must have those in restaurants too.  It must be very hard catering for everyone  who have so many different tastes and expectations.

But,  I must admit I do get very disappointed myself if the service and food is below par.

Well said blondegirl! I personally am a Thalassa fan and have always received excellent service and gorgeous food and will go the in the next couple of weeks a few times I believe :)

Enjoy EEG! I can tell you that from 7 to 21 July, jen and me will spend more hours there than anywhere else. And most of the rest of it at Brouklis? But then they all do good Mythos so we'll see!

Have a great time!

Called into Thalassa Restaurant last week - meal was very good, service excellent largely due to Yiannas's brother. Sorry we didn't see Yianna, but overall the meal and service was excellent. Lets hope the problems mentioned on this topic have now been eradicated and we can all enjoy the wonderful restaurant and hospitality once more.

I recently returned from my first visit to Arillas and during the holiday my girlfriend and I had two meals at Thalassa, both of which were fantastic. In fact the second, was a special occasion as I had asked the staff if it was possible to arrange a table on the beach so I could surprise my girlfriend and propose to her.
I'm happy to say that everything was perfect and everyone at Thalassa made a real effort to make our evening special.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back here many times during future visits to Arillas, and would definitely recommend Thalassa to anyone.

You did it then Elliott!  You old romantic you!   Congratulations!  No doubt it will be a night you wont forget, what a lovely memory!  I know I would have felt a bit silly sitting on the beach eating my meal but secretly inside I would have been thrilled.  What a lovely thing to arrange for something so special.  Well done!

Asked Jen earlier - how d'ya fancy Spiros setting us up a table on the beach for our anniversary (Sept 23rd) and the height of romantic, she said  p**s off - I'll be the dinner for the mozzies. Oh well... I tried.

Oh yeah!  I had forgotton that, but that was Dimitris idea and he went off and got the table and chairs and the wine... I did feel a bit silly but it was great to see it on pic of the day, and it didnt last long!  Bit early in the day for a retsina but we made the best of it! ;-)

Thanks for all your congrats guys.
I'm happy to tell you all that she did indeed say yes and it was a perfect evening.
I'm also pretty sure that we became a minor tourist attraction for the duration of our meal, with a few people taking pics of us, but then I guess its not something you see every day.
For those of you worried about getting bitten if you did the same thing, then fear not. Neither of us received a single bite that evening. Probably one of the only nights during the holiday that we didn't!
Melissa, I'm happy to report that we didn't sink either. Although that would've been pretty funny!!

Congratulations Elliot, brilliant idea mate! I'm pretty sure the chair would have sunk if I'd done it though, especially if it had been towards the end of the holiday!

Congratulations. When is the wedding ???
