It has been a month since new webcam is born in Corfu at our neighbor beach san Stefano , Sponsored by Noula Mouzakiti from san stefano travel (http://san-stefano.gr) I have been helping for the setup and installation with Akis kasimis from Mathraki Studios (http://www.mathrakistudios.net) It was great fun!
It has been a while since I wanted to publish it on our website but I keep forgetting it.

As far as Akis has been whispering, the next camera in Corfu is going to be in Mathraki Island and it is going to be sponsored by the local council of the community of Mathraki.
This island has a large population that lives in USA and only come rerely to their home village for a holiday.
They all seem have a stronger feeling for wanting a webcam as it is not their holiday destination but their own home!
Just to keep you busy...

Well Done Dimitris. I didnt know that about the islands population was mostly from USA, so they can keep an eye on "their island" whilst in the States then? What a good idea!

Blondgirl!
They are not from USA but they are Greek ex pats (is this the right word?)that have immigrated there since earlier years.

Hi Dimitris, I'm really looking forward to seeing the new webcam on Mathraki. It is one place that I really want to visit. Am I right in saying that Akis's mum or dad come from Mathraki? As the Mathraki apartments were our favorite place to stay in Arillas we are keen to see Mathraki island itself...I just have this feeling that I will fall in love with it!

Good morning to all.
I think this website and forum are fabulous, although I have never stayed in Arillas, I have been there many times, walking every year around the headland.
As a family, we have been coming to Corfu for the last 9+ years, but have always stayed at the Barras Apartments in San Stefanos with George and his sons and their families.
Having discovered this site in more recent years, the Arillas webcam has always been my first point of call when I arrive at the office in the morning - just to set me up for the day ahead!
Imagine my joy to see that I can now look at two webcams - although the San Stefanos one is having a few teething problems - but I am sure these will be sorted out.
Anyway, I am going on a bit and I will get to the point - Mathraki.
You may have looked at the following website or you may not - but it gives some really good info on the island as well as history, photographs, etc, etc. I am not sure how old the site is and some of the information may be out of date and some of the links don't always work!
Here it is and I hope it makes you smile as I did, when reading some of the stories!

Cheers for now

May see you this year - 1st August for 2 weeks - at the Barras again!

Thanks for the posting Jezza,
I have had a quick look at the Mathraki website and it looks very good. I will have longer look tonight.
Thanks

Jezza your just a darling!!!
That was a timely post as today I was going to do some research on the Diapontia islands. I had came across that website a long time ago but forgot to save it to my favourites. You have saved me a fair bit of time as undoubtedly during my search for it I would have wandered off track and onto irrelevant sites...as googling tends to encourage us do!
Thanks,
Eileenx
