Title: Car Hire
Post by: SteveL on January 27, 2008, 12:52:53 PM
Looking to hire a car in Arillas this summer which is something that we haven't done before.
Can anybody recommend which company to use?
I have been looking at Arillas rent-a-car and I know that they have been mentioned elsewhere on here but does anyone have any first hand knowledge of this company?

Any help and advice gratefully received.

Steve

We always hire our car through Arillas Renta-Car.

I recommend them for their decent cars and reliable service.  Keep it local! :-)

Theo will meet you with the car at the airport, also you pay on arrival by cash or credit card.

...oh and he's a lovely lovely lad....see I've gone and embarrassed him now!

Agree with Eileen. Kostas (Anna's (studios) other half) will see you alright. And you will be supporting local people. Hope this gives you confidence!

Finally got some answers on Car Hire and Fully Comp Insurance etc.
We spent some social time with Olga (OlgasTravel) this morning and she explained a few things.

Fully comp works a little like it does in England. Prang or damage the car, with no one else involved, and an excess is payable by you. It is usually e300.-Some say e500?
Damages to tyres, exhaust or any underbody damage and you are liable.
If you're involved a biff with someone else you should be covered with no excess.
( Unless you approached them on the wrong side of the road, totally inebriated )

But... A lot of Car Hirers waive certain things and some even cover you for everything.
So before you hire, go through the contract and, make sure that,,what you want to be insured for, is covered. All Car hirers in Arillas speak good English as you know.

I think most of us at home had a £100/£150 excess at home didn't we?

But be careful of those potholes or boulders in the roads over here. Think about my neighbour's brother who, recently drove over a larger than usual stone and ripped his "Oil Sump" off.
He has fully comp on a private car but they pay diddley for that. Whole cost is his.
Happy Days and just drive carefully.
