Title: Sand in hard-to-reach places!
Post by: Jo Wissett on September 17, 2007, 02:00:03 PM
Not be appear a stick-in-the-mud, but I have noticed a few posts mentioning that they use the pools to wash sand off their bodies!! Lets show those hard-working locals who clean the pools some respect and use the showers provided eh?

Well said Jo. I thoroughly agree....the state I'm in when I come up from the beach I wouldn't dream of going in the pool. Spiros would kill me at the Rainbow - or at least shout at me! As it is, Joyce grumbles that there is sand all over the apartment even the next morning and she never goes anywhere near the beach!

Yes I have to argree with Jo  - it's a not a very thought either that you could be swimming in a pool with sand from someone else's bits in there with you too!!

Yes I had to laugh at Sandy's comment about Joyce. Me and the kids have to bathe our feet in a washing up bowl before daring to enter our apt!

My spelling and typing are dreadful today - sorry!  Hope I can be forgiven as am still in a 'state' after leaving my daughter at Uni yesterday!  Back on topic, I also disapprove of people who run straight into the pool after they've had a walk, to cool off - get rid of your sweat before going in the pool!

I am afraid that the Germans are far more disciplined, than us Brits, when it comes to having a shower before going into the pool. The shower also helps to reduce the amount of sun cream/oil that gets deposited in the pool.

I must admit that the title of this topic made me chuckle. "Hard to reach places?" Is that why, when around the pool, you see most of the sand on the "bottom"?

So, let's get this right.
A pool is not the place to throw your old toenail clippings then?

I thought you ate yours Eggy - well they are English and not Greek!  Arghh, I know, I'm disgusting!!  Makes you shudder what could be lurking in the pools at least they all keep them spotlessly clean!

Having found myself swimming next to a great t.rd while in the sea I am a little reluctant to use anything but a pool.

I think that should have been in the Beach or Pool thread. Bit of merging going-on here.

Hello again
I seem to have set off some controversy about getting sand in pools.  Sorry about that.  Of course we should all shower before entering swimming pools.  However its still great to get in a pool after a day in salty water down on the beach.

When the family had a holiday in Denmark we visited the pool at Oxbul.  No shoes were allowed in the changing area, and the attendant ensured you showered without your trunks, using the provided shampoo impregnated sponge applied to all areas of the body.  When you'd got your cossie on again and entered the poolside, another attendant ordered me back to shower again, because there was still shampoo in my hair (this was some years ago and I don't seem to have that problem nowadays!)

All the best

You should have tried to be a little bit sociable and introduced yourself. There's no need to call people names before you get to know them.

Cheryl
The last time I could get my big to in my mouth I think I was  years old.
( But I have been known to put my "foot in it" very often.

Cheryl - OK - Read "toe" for "to" and the age I left out was 2.
Actually 2 years and 3 months cause I got the bitten off pieces "age dated" by the British Museum.

Not yet. Last week the drop in temperature made the rad leak overnight. Not noticed until half way to Sidari and then the 'ole stop light on dashboard flashes.
Got home and plugged the hole with "gripfill" It's been ok ever since. It will have to be changed for the next service though because, unfortunately. there is now, no way the water can be drained without removing the sealant and old plug.
(73 years old and and more boring than ever!!!!!!)
And still too tight to buy a new rad.

Do you know, and this is true, I read years ago that eggs could stop radiator leaks.

Its even on Wikihelp .... http://www.wikihow.com/Seal-a-Leaking-Radiator.

I think I am living dangerously now!!!!!!!

You could try these remedies on that car you'll be hiring. I think you're gonna have problems with the radiator, as well as the tyres, exhaust..........

and.....
Just to keep the thread here.
I suppose I could also try sand as it does get into hard to reach places.

You are a "killer" don't you know?
People will be queuing up to get at your Hire car! Tyres, exhaust,Radiator even the engine will be missing. All you will take back to the hire company will be the ignition key!
( And even that will be missing the key ring )

Would like to think so Neil, or I could feel quite hurt!
Or perhaps next time, I will have to refrain from jokey posts after 3 ouzos while high on being in Arillas!

Hi Everyone
Back from Tingaki in Kos.  Two weeks of hot sun, warm sea and fine sand.
Can recommend Tingaki (but am definately not deserting Arilas).
Failed to sell any Speedos down by the Salt Lake in Tingaki (they just dont seem to wear any).
Have made a note not to be photographed after emerging from cold water.
Best wishes - am glad to be back on the forum.
