Hi all - we're going on 25th May for two weeks - can't wait! First time in Corfu for me (Barry went to Paleokastritsa many moons ago). Staying at Kaloudis in a studio (which I believe may be quite small but the pics I've seen look good)
Will post a review on our return to the UK.
We're v-e-r-y excited already!  9 sleeps to go!!

Just got back from Arillas and staying at the Kaloudis. We stayed in the 2 bed apartments down at the front of the complex.
The accomodation was great, had everything we needed including a kettle, plenty of cutelry etc. Both bedrooms had tvs mounted on the walls and there were a couple of channels in english so that was good. Both apartments were ground floor and had big double balconys that the kids loved to sit on and draw or play cards etc. These made the apartments feel even bigger and even though we were on the ground floor it was very private with beautiful gardens all around.
They were immaculately clean and serviced every day. The bed linnen was changed once a week during our stay. They provided good size towels and cartoon or character towels for the children which i thought was a nice touch. Everyone who works there is lovely and makes you feel very welcome. Rula who runs the shop is just lovely and will help you out with anything from advise to looking after your cases if you get delayed. She always has a smile and seems to work 22 hours a day and still be friendly!
The pool area is also lovely and the breakfast they do is also very good. The food at the Kaloudis is generally very nice and not too badly priced.
The whole place is immaculately kept and the gardens are just beautiful . We would definitely stay here again and probably book direct with them next time. Thanks for a lovely stay. love Julie, Michael,Calum,Keelan, Kay and Neilxxxxx

Hi all

I,m back after two weeks staying at the Kaloudis.

Just to let you know, if you don't already, Billy, Helen and Christiana no longer run the Pool Bar.

Billy and Helen have retired so you only see them now and again and Christiana has got a job in London working for a large company.

Billy still hangs about in his new digs (above the studios at the back).  His house is very impressive but the pool bar is just not the same without them.

A new Billy and his brother run the bar between them and Billy's wife does the cooking, still good food.

Well at least thats better news then I thought. I was worrying about you lovely people staying there, as I had heard that it may be closed tell the beginning of the season 2008, didnt say anything as I felt sure that you would all have been put somewhere else in the meantime and didnt want to upset anybody before they went away. Im sure it will be run on much the same lines as it has been in the past, lets hope so anyway. Viv

I had heard (wether right or not I dont know) that there had been some kind of problem in the family and that they had closed for the rest of this season. SOOOO pleased for you that it hasn't. Have a great time and let us know if it is still the same on your return. Viv

Hi Viv

I don't think there has been a family problem  at the Kaloudis, its just that Billy and Helen have decided to retire and their daughter was studying in Liverpool anyway and has landed a job in London so she won't be around Kaloudis now.

I can't imagine that it will ever shut as I think Billy and Helen would come back first.

Yes Christoph and Rula are still there running the shop and their appartments.

We knows this because we had booked for Rulas appartments this year but at the time there were only 3 of us going but there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two singles and we thought that it would be good if i could take a friend seen as we had the space.

So my mum rang or emailed im not sure, she got in contact with Rula somehow hehe and just told her that we had an extra coming with us this year and Rula was delighted and exited to see evreyone!

We saw Billy many times during both the day and evening when we were there in May/June. He was always working (made us feel very lazy, but - hey ho!)
Two guys ran the pool bar - (Billy/Willy and Jimmy) if I remember correctly. Everything was very well run - assumed it was under the guidance of Billy. We were in an apartment underneath Billy's - the only problem we had was with ants. I told Billy and he said "what number". I'd had a few to drink (!) and thought he'd asked how many ants, so I said "oh, quite a lot" Anyway, he organised for it to be sorted and they left sprays for us, so all turned out OK

My hubby and I are thinking of going to the Kaloudis apartments in October (either here or Theo's in Agios Gergios North).
We've never been to vorfu or any of the Greek islands and are not sure what to expect. We like lots of walikgn, I like shopping hehe and am not too bothered about the weather but would be nice if it doesn't rain toomuch!
Do you recommend the kaloudis or should we go to the other place?

Shelly
It depends what you're  looking for in an appt really. Are there just the two of you and if so do you want somewhere more family orientated?? We loved the Rainbow when we came over, many years aggo, with the younguns but the last few years , once they left the nest we stayed somewhere quieter.
Horizon seem to offer very good deals now and are right on the beach. Kaloudis has very good reports but, could be more for families.
If it's just a base you need then think about flight only. You will have numerous private bookings to choose from.
I'm sure you will get a lot more advice.
Best Wishes.

We stayed at the Kaloudis, it's right at the end of the coastal road.  The apts are very spacious and very clean.  Lovely pool and bar area serving nice food and the family were most welcoming.  Good supermarket on site too.  However, we did find when it was school hols that the pool area got very busy with families and to be honest it wasn't very peaceful whilst sunbathing.  It's really close to the beach though so we just used to pick the preferred spot each day and go for it.  We have also stayed at the Marina, both in the hotel (you can book private and ask for the front rooms with huge balcony overlooking the sea - wonderful) or the apartments across the road.  The Horizon is very nice although we found it a bit more pricey than the others.  We have also stayed with Dimitris above Brouklis and had a great time.  We stayed at the Arillas Bay and again, a huge room but we found the standard of cleanliness poor at the time, both in the apt and by the pool.  May have improved since to be fair.  It's always just the two of us and there is plenty to choose from, both private and package deals.  This year, for the first time, we stayed at Bardis Sun Studios.  It was perfect for us in every way.  Spotlessly clean, really quiet so you could sleep well, everything you needed on tap.  Great bar area, lovely food and immaculate pool area.  Very quiet in day, mainly couples and the family that run it are wonderful.  Firm friends forever.  Also, believe it or not, the cheapest holiday we have ever found in Arillas.  www.corfuescape.com.  Definitely recommend it although you won't be unhappy wherever you stay.

Fantastic holiday yet again. It was lovely to see Roula and Christos again. They always make us feel welcome. Billy has retired but is still very visable. He is in the bar most nights and looks after the unbrellas on windy days!!!!. Place is still run very well and i would recommend it to anybody thinking of going to Arillas. We think it has the best pool.

Hi Sue

Kaloudis is a lovley place to stay ans i always thoroughly enjoy it there.

Kaloudis isn't quite as modern as Horison, but i don't think that really matters as long as it is clean and safe. Which it is.

But kaloudis definately has the better pool.

I also find the people that work in Kaloudis are alot more friendly than Horison.

When do you go?

I wish i was going too!!

Have a good time and enjoy yourself.

We have just come back from a week staying at the Kaloudis Village. It ticked more of the right boxes than any of the other apartments we looked at. Great location, best pool area, spotlessly clean. We wanted a 2 bedroom apartment but they were booked up so ended up in a 3 bedroom apartment.

We were unlucky that the double bed wasn't long enough for my 6'2" husband (it had a bed end so there was nowhere for him to put his feet!). We were also right next to the pool bar which got a little noisy at chucking out time. We managed to get used to the fiddly little shower in the bathroom though and liked the place so much that we will be going back. The owners showed us round the newer 2 bedroom apartments and as they were further away from the bar and much nicer we will book for there next time.

I am thinking of booking a stay at the kaloudis - only trouble is I can only seem to get 2 studios and as we are a family of 4 would want them next door to each other.  Does anyone have a contact e-mail address for the kaloudis.
