Not for us unless we can find alternative accommodation.  Not all accommodation opening.

hi all. not much of a contributer on here, however I love reading everyone's posts....
if the air bridge is confirmed, does that mean the Greek 7 day quarantine for negative tests on arrival would be lifted? if at all the tests are still carried on for arrivals from  high risk countries?confused.com!

Yes I have been trying to find out if the drop of quarantine is reciprocal? I suppose we will hear in the next few days. That is the only thing that will prevent our holiday this year, well that and EasyJet cancelling our flight I suppose!

The greek authorities have yesterday announced that we are still on the naught list until at least 15th July. A lot of accommodation may not open or if they do then no bar or restaurant.

I will try and post the link.

glad I'm not the only one lol. had to cancel last year's trip as I was seconded to work on Brexit with the condition that leave had to be cancelled. going to have to reduce my trip out on 17/8 as daughter has Alevels next year so attending summer school to catch up. don't want to go 2 years with no arillas fix 😂😂

Hi Jo,
I have been trying to find out the same thing, I don't think it is as yet to be honest but things are changing quite quickly at the moment it seems.....
Hi Sonia,
Thanks for the link you posted as I was typing 🙂.  Need to hope we come off that list in the next few weeks and if we don't then c'est la vie......

Hi
Along with others I sincerely hope no more holiday plans are cancelled because of this virus.

With  several countries reporting spikes in the virus that have relaxed rules it's  not surprising to hear from the scientists that a second wave is a possibility.

But the UK could still face exclusion with the behaviour being displayed by many. Even the UK are considering blacklisting Portugal, Turkey and Sweden from the air bridge concession because of increased cases.

I hope it doesn't happen in the UK but having looked at the photos in the UK press of popular seaside resorts and read of the behaviour of 10's of 1000's of people it's really unbelievable, although not surprising.

Southend (my local resort) are already experiencing an increase in the infection rate attributed to people flocking to the beaches.
Whatever people think of social distancing and hand washing it has been proved that these two practises worldwide has been extremely effective in controlling/eliminating the virus. It's our first defence.

As the world opens up for trade, as it must do, we can't just remain in shutdown mode, we have harsh realities to face.
The reality is we have the virus and we now have to learn to live and work with it. Socially distancing, face masks and washing of hands etc.  together with changed work practises, are here to stay for the foreseeable future
If everybody acts responsibly and continue to abide by the restrictions, hopefully there will not be a second outbreak and we can all enjoy a summer holiday

The alternative is it will be the survival of the fittest, with the weakest falling by the wayside, as we build an immunity throughout the population, topped up by yearly innoculations as with the flu virus.
The UK death rate seems to be flat lining, it would take a little effort to see it fall, but no effort all to see it rise. It's our choice.

Another of my daily grouses
It's not just their lack of consideration for the community, but their other antisocial behaviour. One resort (Bournemouth) reportedly clearing up 33 tons of rubbish (including humane excrement, as public toilet facilities are closed) after revellers and sunbathers left for home, possibly taking the virus with them.

These people really annoy me. If only their actions and behaviour only affected themselves.

We are bitterly dissapointed but did not really fancy Gatwick wearing facemasks and on the plane etc. It is a worry about possible contamination. The decision has now been taken from us .I assume they will not offer us a place at the splish splash place ( cant think of its name at the moment)
Will be back next year though. Already booked.

Keep safe

I think the photos of Brighton and Bourempith beaches last weekend will not have helped our plight in the eyes of the Greek authorities.  Nutters spoiling it for everyone as usual.

I can book flights for mid August with Ryanair but will they go ? Also would only want to go to Arillas (obviously!)  and just wondering if all of our favourite places open , Marinaki,Ammos,Effis ,Horizon, etc etc etc ( have read already Costas and Inas open  )
I know it's only one year to miss but would be so lovely to think we could visit the one  place that keeps us sane for the following year ...,... and to support all the lovely people who live and work so hard in Arillas.
Would appreciate any advice cos we confused!

It's not over till the fat lady sings! That's what I say! Have already ordered two face shields off eBay for the plane. Yes it's rubbish but not as rubbish as staying here for another endless year. This is something I shared on Facebook recently

Just read this from Melanie Reid, the brilliant Times Columnist and it sums up completely what going to Corfu means to me...

"It's the wall of heat I miss most, that amazing sensation of stepping off the plane into a bath of warm, different scented otherness. That's what your plane ticket is for - that moment, that budget blessing. You've been delivered to another place..."

CK, there's some fantastic priced flights for 4th -19th Aug with EJ from Manchester. There will always be somewhere you can stay in Arillas. Has anyone seen Nikos's (Akrotiri) new apts? They look amazing

Hi
If anybody finds themselves in our position look at https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/my-package-holiday-has-been-changed-or-cancelled.

We were concerned they would change us to the Kaloudis, but if your acommodation is significantly changed you can get a refund. Be interesting to hear the explanation from TUI, when we hear from them that is.

Again very disappointed but  we did have concerns about Val's medical conditions that might  put her at risk at the airport and on the plane,  but we decided not to cancell  but the decision has now been made for us

Love this Jo - sums up how I feel entirely . It keeps me going all year .

Turkey Foot
You said that you were concerned about having to stay at Kaloudis as you can no longer stay at Mathraki
I personally don't think it really matters where you are staying in Arillas as I've only ever  heard good things about all the accommodation and the families that run them.
Also, you really only have to sleep there as you are welcomed by all owners to use any of their  establishments.

If you were staying at Mathraki it's a 10 minute walk from Kaloudis and you could use their peaceful adult pool. It's only about 15-20 minutes stroll the back way at the side of Effies which is a beautiful tranquil walk and if you're hot and bothered when you arrive then simply sit in the shade with a cold mythos or jump into their gorgeous new pool!

Hi

We all have our own preferences as to where you stay and reasons for doing so. To make a change and not be happy could spoil your holiday.
Sometimes its more than a bed for the night.

We were in two minds, as I have said, to go or not this year, but decided to go ahead. Then the TUI situation made up our mind for us.

Will be back at the Mathraki (this was to be their last year with TUI) which is 100% independent next year  (as opposed to 50% this year) as  usual.
Just paid the deposit today and flights were booked in March.

As a matter of interest looked at Rynair from Southend on Sept 1st this year and it was £323 for two, including hold luggage which I thought was cheap.
