Its hard to believe but in 18 years we have never yet had a meze. I have no idea why this is but aim to put this right in July. Where can you all recommend? Not fish eaters unfortunately so would want a nice meaty/veg selection
The best one I have ever had was at Brouklis. I can't remember if it included any fish but if so I think it would have only been some whitebait and you can always ask them to leave that out and include extra of something else instead.
Yer know, Guys , sometimes the best meze is one that you do not expect to have.
Catch Tavernas at the right time and you may find a little meze that coincides with the family eating.
I have been lucky at , Armourada (Sardines/taramasolata/chips) - Kostas on the beach (A little Octopus) - Night Owl (Asstd tit bits) and Zorbas with their selection of goodies . - Brouklis feed me an extra Ouzo which is equally acceptable and we will be there "Avrio to Vrahi" with Viv n Pete ( I think)
Cheers

Has anyone tried portofino's notice that they advertise a lunchtime meze
Interested in this thread. Had mezes on lots of other islands but never on Corfu for some bizarre reason ........
Hi Neal been to Corfu today but just messaged Wendy. Tomorrow at home would be great. just let us know what time, xxx
I'm the same as Truth
I've had meze on other Greek Islands but never in Corfu and i really don't know why either!

We sometimes have Portofino's meze for lunch. It has been really nice - just right for two to share. Cheese pies, giant bean salad tzatziki and other bits and pieces. Can't wait to get back to Arillas in July!

We have been served lovely meze in several places, starting with Brouklis.
But what´s in a name? You can easily assemble you own meze mix from the starters on the menu.
This might be the best solution for those who have to skip the sea food, including that star of all meze, taramasalata.

We've had lovely meze in Efi's, Thalassa, Grazella, Kymata and Porto Timoni but not as a set price meal but as Emerald says, created by a selection of starters. i think the only place we've seen a set meze menu is in Cardiff.
Efi's...... can't wait to be sat there in August early evening with an ouzo, sardines and cheese balls.......
Yeah we sometimes make up our own mezze. We each order something and share. Loved it when we did this at Romeo's in Pagi. I can't wait to go back there in a few weeks. The homemade Retsina was something else..............
Looking at some pics on fb the new grillroom next to the Malibu had a lovely looking spread today..
There was a sign saying that was opening in 2017 when we were there last May . That's forward planning ! :-)
Graziellas, Vinceramos and Portfofino are the places that I've sampled the Meze. Particularly enjoyed the Portfino lunchtime Meze though.

Hi Truth, I can't wait to be sat in Efi's in August either, so we are going next week.
Sorry, I'll get my coat...
Most Greek people tend to eat a meze when they all eat out together by ordering lots of starters and sharing them which i actually prefer than having a starter and then a main.
. It's great to share lots of different things and pick all night and of course drink in between!

The first time we went to Greece we went to Halkidiki as my brother in law n his wife were living in Thessaloniki and my brother in law introduced us to Greek food in this way by ordering a few dishes and us all sharing. Fantastic except my brother in law has rather a large appetite so we had to be quick at digging in.

Very good...... bravo...... lol
Enjoy mate!
Ha! ha! that made me laugh Sonia.
How lucky to live in Thessaloniki such a beautiful city with a great history. We only spent a day there during a two week holiday in Halkadiki and wished it could have been longer.
I love Victoria Hislop's 'The Thread' great read especially as I actually read it during our day visit to Thessaloniki. The book often mentions the delicious cheese pies and many other wonderful Greek dishes.
Suzy !
We didn't see much of Thessaloniki Suzy ourselves as they came over and spent time with us in Kriopigi where we will were staying. Spent just one day there but we were very impressed with it. Had our first gyros there.
They lived there for 2 years teaching English. They did what everyone would love to do. They lived in London and bought an old army ambulance. Put beds and kitchen area etc and off they went. My brother in law has always had itchy feet. He went onto live in Qatar and then Jordan and now lives in Phuket. Hoping to go and see him in Phuket next year.
Hi Jo, we always make sure we go the The portofino at least once for a lunchtime meze & a nice glass of rose.
The grill room next to the malibu has opened on wednesday 7 is owned by giorgos from the mailbu. Some of the foody pictures on face book look yummy. That's somewhere else we will definately be eating this year.
Only 21 sleeps to go
Hurrah
Karen
Brouklis meze is really nice and especially because it includes the gorgeous courgette balls which I adore! :)
But if you are taking in the view in Porfino their meze for 2 is also gorgeous with added local sausages...nom nom nom nom..... 8)
