Title: Turtle on the beach
Post by: billyd on June 26, 2014, 06:42:09 PM
First time for us in Arillas, a full grown Turtle on the beach.
It went back into the sea, in front of the Marinaki, at around 5.30.

Unfortunately I didn't have my camera or phone with me, just my bad luck. We were just having a walk up the beach, but there were about 10 or so people taking pictures.

Its a shame but you have the picture in your mind forever
I have seen the dolphins in the wild following the ferry from the mainland to Thassos and we swam with them in Mexico,,,,, amazing .......

we did in Cuba too years back and loved it but knowing what i know now I would not do it again,  much better as they should be wild and free.

We also saw wild Dolphins on our honeymoon in Antigua many years ago and that was amazing.  Also when I went to my sisters wedding in Zante 2 years ago we went on a turtle spotting trip and that was also wonderful.  I was amazed how big they were!

My sister and brother in law were in Arillas for the first time last year (after the hubby and I told them how amazing it is.) They went on a boat trip and were lucky enough to have dolphins swimming alongside the boat for a very long time. They said it was amazing especially as it was in the best holiday location that they had ever visited...and they have been to many over the years!
They were due to return to Arillas this summer...July 18th (Arillas bug!) but unfortunately my brother in law had a very serious heart attack last week and they are now unable to travel.
Luckily and thankfully he is on the mend and are determined to return to Arillas next year.
Arillas would have been the best medicine in the world...just a little too far to travel!
