Title: Where to go for breakfast?
Post by: cypress on April 27, 2014, 04:51:39 PM
Normally I would eat at the Marina because I don't know of anywhere else that does an English type.  breakfast. Have you got any recommendations?

Someone mentioned to me last year that they went to 'Jimmys' for a really good breakfast but I don't know who or where he is :-)

Kaloudis do a fantastic full English although to be fair we have eaten in every tavern and never had a bad breakfast or meal anywhere.

They probably mean Jimmy at the Rainbow and his breakfasts are spot on as are the rest of the establishments we have eaten at I cannot fault any of them :-)

As Anne says Portofino or Captains if your really hungry also Graziela  Mirage.
You could have a good breakfast somewhere different every day if you wanted!

Cypress, I'm not a Big Breakfast man, but Jen always has Poppy's Greek breakfast at Bardis Sun Studios. Two bolied eggs (cooked to your choice) feta cheese, tomato with roll and butter and coffee. If I did breakfast, I would do that one. Anywhere that is open will serve you a classic bacon eggs and trimmings. You could try a new one every day if you wanted.

Never considered Portifino for breakfast and don't know why! Will def try there this year. Personally, I love the Marina breakfast which for 5 euro as well as the full english and tea/coffee you also get unlimited self serve juice, toast cereal and fresh fruit salad. And what a view! That said have greatly enjoyed Captains in the past (excellent Fried bread!) And Mirage also lovely.

Mathraki is fantastic, Nikos will serve you anything you want, the eggs are from their chickens, amazing food.  My personal fave is the Marinaki at the bottom of the donkey track before Kaloudis, English or Greek, its just divine.

You are so right Keith, you can eat somewhere different each day and always be satisfied, if you have a late brunch it's always worth a walk to San Stef and get a gyros in Tasty Corner, superb food.

I usually only eat cereal or fruit for breakfast at home, but one of the things I most look forward to in Arillas is Nic's breakfast at Mathraki.   Freshly laid eggs from the chickens that run around in their garden - spent many an hour watching them chase around, or laze in the sun.
Boiled egg, toast, orange juice and coffee - every morning.
Roll on the next three weeks, I'm getting hungry!

One of our favourite breakfasts is walking up to the bakery and sitting outside eating one of their delicious warm cheese pies (naughty but nice!) with a coffee and having a chat or a simple kalimera to people going in and out of the bakery and just relaxing instead of having to rush off to work Bliss!

Yes Tony we are, we really loved our first visit, but had already got everything sorted for last year as we celebrated our 40th Anniversary and spent all our money on long haul and Kef of course! ..... we had talked our friend into going last year to Rainbow but he sadly had to cancel as he was diagnosed with oral Cancer.

We are looking forward to arriving back again!  Have yet to sort out the Dink but have had a price from Olga...... last year we got it from her but she had got it from a place in San Stef.  So will try to find the number direct as it may be cheaper....

we have been hiring Dinks from spiros for years.
We always walk over from Arillas to San stef the morning after we arrive and hire our dink for the 4-5 weeks of our summer holiday.

Every year he tells us we should call him and he will deliver it to us  at bardis sun studios but the walk over and stopping at gravia for an early morning drink lets us know that we have arrived in paradise.

Spiros number is 0030 2663051592 or his mobile is 6946258240

It could be something you have with Ice and a slice

The bar man on a few occasions has asked "would you like Ice and a slice in your dink"

A custard pie from the bakery makes an excellent breakfast :)  This year though the breakfast is included in our rate at the Marina :)

Guess we shall be having breakfast therefore ...
