Title: EARLY SEASON
Post by: mickandsue on March 01, 2014, 08:39:05 AM

Hi

At least 5 restaurants and a cafe in Arillas will be open 12 April, most of them a week before that.

This quote was taken from the link to the early birds come to Arillas web page.

Could anybody tell me which they will be.

Thanks in advance.

Armourada is always open during the day and can rustle you some food evening time.

Hotel Marvelous, next to Rainbow, is generally open every afternoon and evenings. You need to give a little notice if you want to eat there, though, as Mum always prepares fresh. (Any evening, I am told)

Christos (Ex Helens Creperie) is open during the day for beers/coffee etc and every evening . At the moment food is only available Friday/Saturday/Sunday evenings. Grilled Meats or Salad.

Not sure about Brouklis and the only Supermarkets I know of, at the moment, are Vasilis(Op Armourada) and Inas.

If you plan a walk to Ag.Stephanos then you have Nickoletos (Just before Brewery) for beer coffee and maybe toasties. They also open evenings. Three W's, Ag. Stephanos is also open.

Walking towards Afionas, you will find Night Owl usually open during the day for a drink. Night Owl open every evening but food is only available Fri/Sat/Sun evenings. Ask about specials.

Venturing away from Arillas, you have , of course, Mon Amour - But evenings only.

If I hear of any more places I will let you know.

Cheers

That's good, enough for a different restaurant each evening and Vivien will probably want to cook once or twice, I'm sure.

But sorry Mate, no suitcases, just hand luggage this trip. Painting will be the order of the day. I need to go to Focus near Sidari, apparently that's the cheapest for outside masonry paint. Any other suggestions?

The pizza place next to Brouklis is fantastic !  Probably doesn't get a mention on here as its taboo not "eating Greek" when you are in Greece but believe you me its well worth a visit !  :-)

Jez.
There's a good builders merchants on the main road out of Sidari going towards Roda. Not sure what it's called, but it is on the left a couple of km's out of Sidari. It's quite big and is down in a dip off of the road - Put this into Google Maps for the location -  39.785587,19.725266
The old guy there has very good english and is very helpful.

I think it's called "FOKIAS"

But, I have to say, on the two times I have been there it has been a struggle to find what I need, and to explain what I am looking for.
( My fault on the language - I must learn more )

That's spot on Eggy! - I knew the name sounded a bit rude in English ;-)
Although I must say, that every time I have been there I found them to be very helpful - and as you know, I speak no Greek at all except for the touristy stuff.
Mind you, I did come a bit unstuck when I bought some waterproof sealant for the tile grout on my upstairs balcony - I asked him for sufficient to cover 15 sq.mtrs and wondered why he thought that was a big balcony, it wasn't until I got back with 2 great tins of the stuff and deciphered the destructions on the back of the tin that I realised he must have thought I said 50 sq.mtrs. - Never mind, it will keep :-)
