Title: Cost of a holiday
Post by: ness44 on October 09, 2013, 09:49:30 PM
Just looked on the Thomson website for next year 25th july for 2 weeks at Mathraki and it £2879. Luckily i booked mine a few weeks ago and it was £1000 cheaper!!!!!How do the travel agents get away with putting their prices up by that much?? No wonder some families cant get to go away on holiday in the summer holidays. Shocking!!!!

I see these posts and am always surprised. We come from Glasgow which means we are effectively tied to a package with Thomsons.
However no complaints the price for 2 weeks at Kaloudis has remained pretty constant for the 7/8 years we have been coming
Next year for studio for 2 persons for 2 weeks  £1100.
We are booked and cant wait.
Oliver.

I haven't looked at the prices since i booked back at the end of August but I only paid £598 (or £588, can't quite remember!) for the first 2 weeks in August with Thomas Cook. I think that's pretty good.
Had i been travelling with a friend/partner, Icelolly.com were offering it at £387!!! There would have been a little extra to add on for transfers & insurance but that's rediculously cheap for 2 weeks - i paid that 5 years ago when i went to Kos!
Thomas Cook were also offering Tria Adelphia at £648 for 2 weeks and Makris at £798.. so it's pretty obvious why i opted for the Rainbow! :-)

Prices with Thomas Cook seem to fluctuate wildly.  We booked early a couple of years ago and found ourselves in the ridiculous position a couple of months later that if we cancelled, lost our deposit and rebooked it was going to work out about £200 cheaper.  Seems to me that the package prices have increased since the selection of accommodation has been reduced by so many premises only taking direct bookings.  Great if you are able to book cheap flights from nearby airports but no so good for everyone.
