Title: Mathraki
Post by: ness44 on August 16, 2013, 10:34:04 AM
Hi does anyone know why on the Thomson website its saying that there are no rooms available for Mathraki at all next season? It was ok on Wenesday and went back in yesterday and its still there but saying nothing available. Usually when they are all booked it is removed from site!! Surely it cant be all booked for the whole of the season??

Have you tried ringing Thomson shop to see if they can throw any light on it. I remember this happening a few years ago with Kaloudis they all appeared to be booked early on and made me wonder if they were being re furbed but then they became available again. Kaloudis are normally more expensive than Mathraki but when the hols came out for nex year Mathraki were the more expensive then dropped down to quite a lot cheaper than Kaloudis. Also Kaloudis have been moved from Skytours to Small and Friendly and Mathraki to Skytours which seems strange as Skytours have always been aimed at families and Mathraki are adult only. Would love to know what's going on. Glad we booked for next year when Kaloudis were cheaper. Maybe they reduced the price of Mathraki to have a surge in their booking and they re now fully booked. Maybe somebody stating there this year would know if that's the case.

We booked for the Mathraki next year for the 21st June in July this year on the Thomson site so I hope there is no problem but returning in a September so will check then, but see people are returning shortly so they will be able to check before us.

I would suggest you ask Mathraki this question direct. It just might be a suprise to them.

This has happened before. I was just as angry then. There is no WAY that Mathraki is already fully booked all of next season. Akis and family are being treated badly by the Tour Operators yet again. They are diverting customers to more profitable destinations by this cheap ploy. Aaaargh!!!!

Rant over. Eggy is right - talk to them direct and find out the truth.

I would talk to them direct and also book direct and go flight only if you can. We found this one year and couldn't find any availability at the Mathraki then suddenly we could.

Thanks for your replies.
Just been into shop and they said its because the contracts have not been finalized. I hope they dont drop them. On the site the other day they were coming up cheaper than Kaloudis by bout £200.

They really shouldn't show Mathraki at all until the contracts are signed. They are still abusing the owners by giving the impression they are fully booked.

If anyone should do the dropping, it is Mathraki dropping Thomson. But the effect of all of Arillas going independent will be to exclude many from North of England and Northern Ireland from going there. Cheap flights may be available in the South, but my evidence is that it is not so in the North. And so a song....

I rest my case.

Oliver, I typed Scotland in my list but deleted it. The Scots I know (quite a few) are so canny, they seem to get round it their way. Even if it involves hours at airports.

Have YOUR Arillas when you are there, whether you whirl or not. I bore everyone to death, but I will say it again. Arillas is for all of us, and offers something to everyone.  The key to the treasure is the smile.

Phil
I intend to enjoy the 2 weeks as much as my wife and I always do!
Despite my restricted ability in relation to what I can eat and drink it is for me another victory over the big C.
You are never going to let me forget the "whirl" thread.!
Anyway whether we whirl, spin or just keep straight on it will be perfect to be back in Arillas.
Oliver.

Oliver, I hope and believe you are with me on the whirl thing. It brought me up short wondering why I feel like I do about Arillas. It confirmed that actually, it is the beach, the food and the locals who beguile me. And then you gave meaning to it with your comment about the social whirl, which like table 13, has become folklore.

Fame costs, apparently, and your 15 minutes is about social whirls. Mine is still in the melting pot. I hope it never escapes "though it seems to the world it was all I desired."

I know already about your battle with health, but as long as I live, 10 minute or 10 years, I will be true to my beliefs and accept the praise of those who understand me.

Whirl? It was Watson and Crick who saw the whirl of DNA. Apparently.

Have Arillas on your own terms. It has been designed for that. And I hope one day we can connect for real.

Phil
We are absolutely together on the "whirl" thing.
It is not that I am anti social.Far from it! It is just that when I am in Arillas I want to go with the flow and have plenty of rest and recuperation.
I dont want to be organised. If I happen to meet people in Portifino.Ammos, the Nut or anywhere else then great and will enjoy having a drink and a chat.
However in your case I would make an exception.I too would like a "face to face" chat.
So if our times ever coincide lets do it.
To all of the rest of the forum friends if we happen to meet up I look forward to seeing you but if not I will continue  sharing our experiences on line!
Oliver.

Hi

I don't know when you're wanting to go to Mathraki but I was looking at Thomson website and they are now available again in June (it had disappeared previously but has now reappeared)
Maybe a computer error but could be worth you looking again
