Not in the rooms, they are in the bar.

Have to say that they are very big too, unlike the safe you find in most rooms.
They remind me of the safety deposit boxes you get at a bank.

Are they in full view of everyone if they are the bar? Seems an odd place to have them!!!

most of them seem to be in reception areas, at least in full view you are not going to get anyone tampering with them or trying to jemmy them out of the floor of your room (as happened to my son in a villa in majorca!)

No not really, there is a small table at the side. You open your box and slide out a long metal drawer and put that on the table or, if you just want something small just pull the drawer out a little way and put your hand in.
The only disadvantage is.....if you come back very late and the bar is all locked up you can't use them.
We usually hire one, put the passports, insurance documents, return tickets, house keys and car keys  (because we can never find them on leaving day) and money in and only open it when we need money out, we never put money back in, Bill just leaves it in his wallet until he needs more!

We always feel very safe in Arillas and use the box so we know everything is together.
The owners are always on the premises so if you had an emergency they are there for you.

Does anyone know why certain words in my posts are underlined?

Hi Val

Nothing underlined as far as I can see from my end....  I'm on Mozilla Firefox though, not sure if that would present differently?

I had similar with a host of sites and found that some add on program had got through my firewall. Right clicking on the underline might tell you what its and called and will give you an option to turn off. In installed programs you can un-install it totally.

Ger, jemmied from the floor is a tale I have heard before, it happened to someone we know as well.
Once we were in Crete, asked for a safe and the young man on reception said 'yes I will bring to room', we thought he was bringing the key.....but no he brought a little safe and stood it on the dressing table, he couldn't understand when we said 'no thank you we won't bother'.  We just hid things in different places and took our money out with us.
Thought that would be less risky than someone walking off with the safe.
