Hello micjul. Welcome to the forum.
First week of May you will find Arillas gearing up for the season, but some places not yet open. It will be quiet, but as you may have seen on here, some forum members always go then. You might well see the magical fireflies at this time, and there will be things to do. The Trail is great for walkers at this time of year when it is cooler. And the surrounding countryside is beautiful.
Keep asking questions. Between us we know most of the answers. Best wishes for a great stay in May.
Phil
Welcome to the Arillas forum micjul, if you booked with Thomsons you will be either at the Mathraki (where we stay) or Kaloudis which is really great too.
As Phil says the beginning of May is quiet but beautiful, there are lovely walks around Arillas, if you look at all the maps on the forum you will see the village is U shaped and on this walk you will see most of the tavernas bars and shops. It doesn't take long to walk the circuit.
If you walk to the tavernas up the back road at dusk you will see the fireflies, they are a beautiful sight to see. Try Vavilas fish taverna on this road, Thomas will welcome you like family.
Lots of people prefer the start of the season, it is very warm and the beach is not crowded. Also the pace is slower so people have time to chat.

Hi, micjul. Welcome form me (us), also. You couldn`t have picked a better place than Arillas. And ,even though we`re all biased here, we speak the truth.
Once you have been , you`ll be hooked and return many times. ( I hope! )

Mikjul you have picked a great time to go to Arillas. You are arriving for Greek Easter which is an important occasion for the Greek people. I am sure you will be able to share this special occasion with the people of Arillas and it should be a great start to your week - enjoy!
I wish i were going in early May ,only ever been once that time of year and that was to San Stef loved every minute of it :-)
