Title: Lost camera
Post by: superdafydd on October 28, 2012, 12:07:43 PM
Can anyone please help.  On the 12th of Oct. my wife and came to your beautiful village.  We spent a very happy week at the Kaloudis Apartments, dispite the storms.  We spent a few pleasant hours walking around and having a Frappe in the tavernas. And now here is the sad bit, when we arrived home and unpacked I realised I had lost our camera.  I managed to find a contact number for Kaloudis and spoke to Rula.  She was very helpful and contacted Portofino and spoke to Spiros, but nothing at both places.  We also went into Graziella but I couldn't get find any phone or email contacts.

If anyone can tell me how I can get in touch with the owner or if anyone picked it up.  The camera, Nikon Coolpix S6150, has been replaced so all I would like is the Memory Card as we took a lot of very special photos.

It is typical of the Greek people that however hard their own life is they would never steal and would reunite truthful owners with their posessions. Yet another example on display here. I wish the Brits were so honest. Mind you, most of us are.

as some of you know i left a camera in a taxi first time we came to Corfu.the taxi had gone back to benitsis after dropping us off at messonghi,we only discovered i had left the camera in the taxi when we were sat on the beach.I asked the girl at reception if she had the phone no for the taxi rank, she said to leave it to her and she sorted it all out,The taxi driver found it in the bottom of his cab and for the taxi fare brought it back to messonghi for me.Cannot see that happening over here.

Same happened to me Harold.  I left a backpack on a bench in the arrivals hall.  A quick call to the airport and soon it was on it's way to Arillas...including all the contents...camera, jewellery & cash, etc.

Equally I've received similar acts of kindness here in the UK, therefore unlike yourself I can say I've seen it happening here.

This a heart warming story and its not just the local people who are really honest. Two people, who have replied to this topic, went back to Graziella  one night because they realised that they hadn't paid for their deserts. This happened during a power cut when it was very easy for mistakes to be made, but these two lovely people couldn't rest until they had gone back and paid. Lovely honest people in a lovely honest place.

Great story happy ending. Good for you Jo, the free car park ticket, shame the owners of said car parks are getting wise and starting to add reg numbers to the ticket as you buy them........

Its nice to know you got your camera back, we all knew you would if a local had found it.
Guess I'm still very lucky here as I can still leave the front or back door unlocked when I take the dog out for a walk and know that the house and contents will be perfectly safe until I get back.  Viv
