Hi All
Just got back from arillas again on monday and had a great time (as usual)
Im thinking of trying to go private accommodation rather than tour operator
next year, as I have seen some nice priate appartments over the last two weeks.
I am TOTALLY new to doing this and have no idea about how to do this with regards to booking flights (prices in particular) and any banana skins that I may need to avoid!
Could anybody advise (in particular the right sort of price I should be paying for flights) There will be myself, my wife and 14 year old daughter. Hopefully travelling in June/July 2013
I know many on this forum will see it as a piece of cake to do but Ive always gone tour operator purely for the convenience of the 'one stop shop' thing.
Any advise would be much appreciated
Jon
Hi Jon, glad you had a great time. We always do independent now and find that for us as a family of 5 this way works out at least £1000 cheaper and we always get to stay in our dream accommodation. For couples the savings aren't as dramatic. The cheapest flights are AS SOON as Easyjet release their schedules. For July it is usually around Oct if I recall but there will be plenty of notice on here so keep checking. One year we paid just £750 for all five return flights in July school holidays yet last year we paid £1200 as we could not book at that time.
Hi Jon
Been going independent for over 10 years (not always corfu) and whilst it can be cheaper than tour operators, it is more a case of getting the accommodation YOU want, not what the operators want to sell you. Living in Aberdeen we have found that there is a big difference in flights depending on school holidays - fly from Newcastle during scottish school holidays, and glasgow during english school holidays. You have to factor in the airport transfer, currently about 110 euro return. We have hardly had a hiccup with accommodation. As for flights, it is very much a case of where you want to fly from, and then keep checking until you get a price you are happy with. There will always be someone who gets a cheaper flight, but if you're like us, we cannot be very flexible in dates, so have to pick the flights as far as we can ahead, and settle for that. If you're very flexible, then you can always get a last minute deal which is actaualy cheaper than a flight only, dump the accom and make your own way to arillas.
Good luck
Hi Jon
If you want to go June July 2013, Easy jet should be lauching may - july 2013 fights some time end of July, I booked my flights for our annual june week in arillas, last july and got them for just over £200 return in total for the 2 of us.
Will be doing the same again in july but for 3 as my daughter wants to come with us again.
