What did Arillas 2011 mean to you? Tell us.
To me and to my Jen it meant joy and happiness. We met many people, we enjoyed the beach, the pools, the food and much more as well. Arillas is a special little part of Corfu that is proud of itself. And so it should be.
Tell us what Arillas meant to you in 2011. All of us so want to know.
Phil
'Contemplation' - we have never been to arillas but have loved reading all the 2011 posts in quiet contemplation of our holiday in May 2012. Thanks to all x

Well, like I wrote in my blog: Arillas is the warm woolly socks for the mind.
That is it in 2011 and beyond :)

I like that, nice one Erja

I'm on the countdown now!

Arillas meant more to me this year for the simple fact that I was unable to visit one of my favourite places in the whole wide world.
It made me dream about it all the more and although the longing made me sad, reading about other people's experiences and carry-on's gave much comfort.
Next year I shall return - maybe for two visits if I'm very lucky.
Although I shall be coming as a solo traveller I know that I will be safe and very much looked after by friends there...and hopefully, I shall get the opportunity to meet more Forum members than has previously been the case.
So roll on 2012 but not forgetting all the people who are about to head out this year and who are already fortunate enough to be there.
My turn will come soon enough and in the meantime I have the Forum, F/B and so many, many magical memories...

I wish you were coming with me tomorrow sweetheart.
Get those ruby slippers out for next year.
Yammas Nan xx :-)
OR............
Life is like a broken lavatory seat.
Arillas has the super glue.
So...... The pain in the bum has been removed.
Hmmmm!
As the end of the season closes in, many of us look forward to, not only spending time doing those "house jobbies" that get neglected during the Summer but also those weekly darts nights which enable us to meet a tad more than we did in the Winter.
Arillas has bought us many pals again, this Summer and I hope it brings many more next year. We thrive on your input and catch up on lost news from the UK. More importantly we miss all of you and, even if we have a good Winter, the Summer can be the icing on the cake. ( Catch up time )

Aww cheers for that Nan, that made me grin from ear to ear...so happy for you heading out tomorrow. I don't think people should ever under-estimate the power of the written word/images.
Folk taking time out to share their Arillas/Corfu adventures is an absolute tonic in my book and I'm full of admiration for all those that make & continue to make the effort...& Eggy too.
Tell you something, not if, but when I come next year I shall make certain I make myself know to him :-)
Safe journey Nan & happy, happy times!!
BB :-) xx
After 9 months without work it was just the job for us chilling out swimming in the sea, diving from the jetty ,walking into San Stef, meeting up with other members the food and the mythos the great hospitality of the locals who all made our holiday fantastic .
We spent the full 2 weeks in Arillas apart from a one day trip into Corfu town bring on 2012 as Arnie says I'll be back :-)

I justlove yous all. Mention Arillas and you all come running, kicking and screaming. Not that I'm not the same.
Nan meluvver, I'm just sad we can't share a big Arillas hug like we did in July outside Horizon. (And the other times, but as you know it is friendship, not sleaze.) And you are back for No 3 in 2011 I think - or is it 4? Like Jen and me it is becoming your preferred home.
Becky luvver, we will be staring out over Dimitri's balcony in 4 weeks time. We still have that image of you doing the same in our memories. So love to hear from you again. Arillas is still there and waiting for you to come back. Don't fret about humpty-dumpty (Eggy in real money.) He's quite armless. And often legless in our company. Like philadnjen - we are totally overrated....
lol love and best wishes
Phil
Becky - try and get out there anytime from 11th - 18th june 2012 sweetheart - me and thee can then have a good old gaggle sat out on the jetty with a bottle of bubbly or Greek Cava - anyone else is also more than welcome
Ang xx
For us, it was all about just being there because we really thought we wouldn`t be. Heather`s health scare frightened the s**t out of us and to be given the all clear to fly - well, what do you think it meant to us?
Can honestly say,we had our best time there ( even tho every trip has been marvelous.)
Spent more time in ther Nut this time around and got to know mine hosts really well.
Arillas really is the `perfect antidote to life`s stresses and strains`.
Yammas, Paul
It has been a tough year but for us Arillas will still welcome us back before the winter. We have joked with himself who is providing a bed for us (our dearest webmaster Dimitris) and maybe some brown and white bread... Alone in Arillas we will not be, but we wouldn't care if we were. There won't be any rainbows, but there will be pots of gold. The sea (Thalassa in Greek) will welcome us in, and we already have a few dates with folk. We will swim in the warm sea, wallow in the affection that our Greek friends will spray on us, and we will feel good. It will be our fifth last week of season, and we will love every minute.
I promise to share it with yous all via Arillas Today. As usual in October, our time will be our own in our favourite place on earth.
Phil
For Bill and I Arillas surrounds us with love.... The love of friends, good food, wonderful views, all the people of the village who make you feel so welcome, the sun sea and sand, the love you feel when someone shouts across the street to say hello, and when your sitting somewhere and you feel a touch on your shoulder and an introduction to a new friend happen........ as my tag says "The Love Affair Continues" This is what Arillas means to us.

Arillas welcomed us again this year as it always has,
With warmth and affection,
THANK YOU ARILLAS
See you again next summer
The best part for me, this year, was my son and family going to Arillas and loving it as much as Helen and myself. It sort of gives reassurance that your addiction to a place isn't just a whim, its something that is felt by almost everyone that visits Arillas.
The worst part was to see less people in Arillas, which means less income for the village. This, together with Greeks economic problems, creates a bit of concern about the survival of some businesses. The people of Arillas are the main reason we love the place so much. There are many places in the world with nice beaches, nice food, and everything else that Arillas has but these other places don't have the Arillas people. They are the catalyst that makes a nice resort a special resort and I hope everyone on the forum can do everything possible to get more people to have their holidays in Arillas in 2012.
I probably haven't explained this very well, but when a place has given so much pleasure to so many people, we need to give Arillas as much support as possible through the difficult times that Greece is experiencing. So lets feel that its not the end of 2011, but the beginning of 2012, and let's all make a bigger effort than ever to promote Arillas as the best holiday destination ever.
Oh, there was another highlight of 2011, and that was meeting Nina and her mum Theresa at the Horizon. More of this and other reports through the winter months.
Arillas was a pain in the backside for me this year as we didn't go. We went instead to a lovely villa in nissaki, gorgeous place, great food, friendly tavernas, but it wasn't arillas and I kept on thinking "nice but not arillas" all the time.
Next year we've booked a villa just over the hillside near the church in san stef, but Nic and I will walk over the hill for a nice meal and carafe or three I'm sure.
Nic had been suggesting a second holiday in september in arillas, but I'm being TUPE'd next week and when I met my new boss the other day, she told me the whole NHS trust is being offered mutually agreed resignation and redundancies will come if they don't lose enough staff through that route. So the second holiday may not happen.
