Title: Thomson Air Fares 2012.
Post by: martin-w on September 06, 2011, 01:53:32 PM
Having just got a 'bargain' flight to Corfu at £108 return, plus extras on September 30th.for two weeks, I thought I would have a look to see what was 'occurring' from Cardiff in May next year. At the moment, £299 (in round figures) is the 'price' of cheapest flight, two weeks 11th.- 25th. May. Again, this figure is the same for all airports in the 'south west' sector, Bristol,Bournmouth etc. but the fares seem to be getting more expensive for next year, as after you have added 'baggage' (which used to be free with this airline), meals, seat booking and card fees adds another lump onto this 'price'! Not sure what to do, as the fares usually start low and 'creep' up gradually as the dates get nearer.
I have been traveling independently every year since 2007, usually May and September, maybe its time to look at 'package' deals again. The trouble is then you get the 'single supplement' sting in the tail! the 6 hour bus trip to 'hell on earth' Gatwick is definitely out.
Book now or wait a bit, maybe a trend will make itself obvious, we'll see.

Martin I reckon (for what its worth!) You should wait as May shouldn't be as expensive as that, regional airport or not! On the other hand, you have been totally spoilt with your latest price so if you can afford the £299 and it is more on par with what you usually spend then nobody would blame you for taking it! I am sure you would be gutted to not stay with Dorrita! Choices choices eh!

Hi Jo! Dorita's is my second home, been going there since 1999. Just been through my records. My first trip was with Thomson 'small and friendly' when the Bardis Sun Hotel was one of Thomson's 'star feature' in Arillas. After they abandoned this hotel, as they did with many properties in Corfu for the more lucrative medium haul resorts like the Maldives/Bahamas, the prices of flights to Corfu took an increase which has escalated annually. £299 is 'reasonable' compared with what I paid by waiting till after Christmas last year, totaled £409 all in. I know the manager of my local Thomson's shop quite well and she said the other day that the price of flights is related to the increased use of Corfu Town Harbour for cruises. They can fill planes with a 'guaranteed' clientele, so prices are high for everyone.
Decisions, decisions!!

I have the same problem Martin. Thomson flights from Bournemouth next May are over £300 at the moment. Easyjet from Gatwick at the same time was £80 return (plus bag).....so no real choice there this time and I am all booked.
