AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS ASSOCIATION OF GREECE have announced plans to strike on June 28th & 29th between the hours of 08.00-12.00 & 18.00-22.00
24 hours before it was due to take place ATC canceled their planned action for the last General Strike on 15th June...will they do so this time?

Checking the original announcement in Greek http://www.eeeke.gr/ and then English translation http://www.eeeke.gr/index_files/ENGLISH_HOME.htm it looks like there is a discrepancy between the two for the hours of strike. (or perhaps it's something to do with Universal time etc...way beyond my understanding!)
Bloody hell. it beggers belief that the unions would hit the airlines when this is their main income.
What happens to your tickets if a strike goes ahead. Does the airline give you a later flight or is it tough luck? Think I will sort out my insurance sooner rather than later
What is UTC? It says 5am to 9am....my flight is due to arrive at 11am....If it's 8am to 12, maybe we'll just fly later. Easyjet is usually late anyway....lol
Jo, when this happened to me last year I was in Arillas thankfully. I was due to fly back here on the Thursday and got a text from Easyjet on the Tuesday to say my flight was cancelled. I was able to go online and transfer to another flight of my choice, free of charge. So I assume it would be the same this time. The trouble is, everyone will want the next available plane, which is probably already full. I was meant to be at work on the Friday but even if I'd got the flight that day I couldn't have there till at least 5pm.....so I stayed till Sunday!! This is my come-uppance for that I reckon.
Anyone who has not bought insurance for any trip they are making this summer should do so.
The unions don't seem to care that it's the ordinary people of Greece who will be suffering as a result of strike action.
Strikes should be used as a tool against goverment action, but this seems to serve no purpose.

Have just spoken to someone who knows about these things and UTC is the same as GMT, and at the moment we are on GMT + 1 in the UK.
So 5am to 9am UTC is 8am to 12 noon in Greece.... ******
I was really hoping that the Air traffic controllers wouldn't strike and I am just thankful that we go on Monday. Its bloody awful for Sandy and others to have worries like this and lets hope some people see sense and cancel the strike.
Well, the good news is that Easyjet still haven't cancelled my flight so I live in hope.....the website just says at the moment that there may be problems because the strike is threatened.
Just wish I could transfer to this afternoon's flight - but I have to work today and unless EJ cancel, I would have to pay and it is now costing about £150 single whereas I paid £110 return.....
All packed and ready to go....taxi booked for 1.30am. All I need now is a plane to take me and some air traffic controllers to guide me down to land.....
