I thought Kiss was affiliated to Viking airlines....but maybe I'm wrong.
There is it appears an association. You book through viking and you can but not always end up on Kiss flights. What happens now that Kiss are gone, I don't know.
What I've been able to dig up is that Kiss was formed with some ex directors of XL Airlines. Kiss was a selling arm of Viking Airlines and the former XL directors have a stake in Viking two, but legally both companies are separate. Im sure others will know more.
Oh dear
My tickets arrived today! i recieved a text about 7.30 from Travel Republic and they were engaged until they closed at 8 pm. I think I'm covered by ATOL and my credit card so I have rebooked with Thomas Cook but worryingly this won't be confirmed until tomorrow.
Not sure I shouldn't rebook direct to be sure.
Our people out there now are on Viking too. Yes flight Options=Kiss=Viking
CAA will apparently repatriate them.
Apparently Viking are downsizing. Is this foreboding? Wasn't Viking associated with Goldtrail?
Not looking good for the independant traveller.
Viking appear O.K for the moment. I've just posted this on the Viking thread...
Kiss Flights update
While one of Viking's tour operating customers, Flight Options, (Kiss Flights) has unfortunately gone into administration, Viking is financially healthy and is set to continue its normal UK operations. The company has already put into motion plans to downsize its fleet, immediately reducing the number of aircraft by three. Regrettably, this will result in some job losses, mainly in the UK. It should be noted that the majority of Viking's operations are based in Central and Eastern Europe and in the Middle East.
For the financial year 2009, Viking Airlines reported a net profit of €3.8 million. The company also reported an equity ratio of 40%. Viking Airlines has no interest-bearing debt.
The company was formed in 2003 and is owned by European Aviation & Technical Services and Black Pearl Investments Ltd.
Customers can book seats on Viking Airlines through our website Flyviking.com
and we would like to re-emphasise our continued dedication and commitment to our customers.
If you have booked with Kiss Flights please see the CAA website at www.caa.co.uk for the latest information on your flights.
Whatever the score with Viking, its hardly the news that will make furure travellers have faith in booking with them which in turn makes trading all the more difficult. How do they expect to maintain a service which has already been slated on various forums for their delays when they now have less planes. This indeed is troubled times for going it alone. Maybe easyjet will be able to profit and bring down the price of their flights.
Yes I agree, once bitten.
Another lesson in you get what you pay for. Any body cheaper than Easyjet to be viewed with suspicion.
I'm now rebooked and will get a refund but I will never go Viking.
The accountants do love nesting these companies so all the assets are in one pot and all the liabilities in another. I wonder how ATOL will view their risk on Viking going forward.
