Terry

I tried the WiFi quite a few times around Arillas during our two weeks to send emails via my phone with pictures to friends and family. Most Wifi connections were secure, of the unsecure ones all but one blocked any WiFi access via my mobile. That one was the Brouklis, which I used to 2 or 3 times to send emails. I tried the beach area once or twice, but only found the nearest hotel WiFi to where I was and these were secure. Maybe the hotels and bars were happy to give out the codes, but thats not what I thought it was all about. Maybe others had better luck.

Regards Gary

Can you tell me what I should need to know about secure and unsecure.  I have never used WIFI before and plan to bring my notebook with me in a few weeks time.  What should I or shouldn't I be doing when I connect.  I am not very good with new technology, assume I know nothing!

All secure and unsecure means is that a secured wireless network requires a password to access it. You can connect to an unsecured network once you know the SSID (Network Name).

Also forgot to say, as I was using my mobile for WiFi it was with me most of the time and it never located a single 'hotspot' around Arillas. It only picked up official WiFi connections.

Maybe it isn't working then, so hopefully Dimitris will read this and then give us an update.

I sat on the beach, right near Ammos & Portofino with my iPod Touch and thought I'd have a quick surf on several occasions. Each time it picked up 2 secure networks and one open one, which it connected to. However you couldn't then get access to the internet, no pages came up. That suggests they were just using the wi-fi as a network connection, rather than internet connection. We never did go in to Ammos to have a go - maybe they give out the codes for the secure network? One way of getting bums on seats in there!
