Interesting! I just had a look and for me this would of been £86 more expensive than EasyJet to fly from Gatwick with them.

Good to know though :)

Hi all

Kiss flights are the online booking engine for Viking Airways who took over when XL went bang . We have flown with them once and found them to be ok

I just had a look on their website to compare flights for September and there didn't appear to be any - ??

So I did the same for May next year with the same result - odd....

Perhaps they don't fly from Manchester?

Any ideas?

That makes sense - we're flying Easyjet in September.  Just thinking about next year now....

xx, kiss kiss

Beware little airlines bearing gifts. We flew EUJet to Ibiza to save money, but ended up in Ibiza for four days extra, and ended up with £30 compensation. Our PaulC and others struggled with XL in Corfu last year or the year before. Some have lost a fortune.

If they were underwritten by Government to make competition happen, then just fine. But they are not. And in the current climate, stick with the bigger ones, like EasyJet. Well that's what I think, but would love to hear other opinions.

Phil

PS so are we Janis. Your post was a red warning jobbie, but we're on the same wavelength anyway....

love Phil

You may well be right there Phil
It's not what you know, it's WHO YOU KNOW (and trust)
may cost a little more but better safe than sorry

Well my friend used them this week, and all I know is that they had a 2 hour delay, but suppose that can happen to anyone.  these are the same friends who arrived in Arillas and found they had been double booked!! Great start to their hol eh!

We have no experience of Viking flights, but on our return from Corfu on the 12th July every Viking flight to the UK was delayed. No problems with Thomson or thomas Cook or EasyJet, just Viking/Kiss.

I think the problem with Viking is the very small fleet of planes they have.  If one goes technical, there is no back up and that can cause a knock on effect to all destinations.

Looks like I won't get to report on the quality of my flight as Kiss ceased trading today.

I'm so sorry Frank. Since our EUJet disaster we have vowed never to go through that again. Just hope you get your money back, and keep your appointment with Arillas at the end of the month....

Best wishes
Phil

Thanks guys!

Between paying on a credit card and ensuring the flight was ATOL bonded we should be fine with regards to a refund when I can find time to sort out the CAA forms.

Rebooking the flights was a bit of a fiasco but I have on the third attempt actuall now got conformed bookings for the trip.

So see ya there!

Michelle's friend who is in Arillas with her at the moment is booked on Kiss. From what I see on the news, those who are abroad already are guaranteed a flight home. Shame.....some of us wouldn't mind being stuck there.

I have read the same Sandy, so Michelle's friend will be ok. I had a flight booked with Kiss for October to Crete, but they stopped all October flights so I got my money back with no problem, about a month ago. Think I was lucky, since booked a Monarch flight £25 more expensive, but reliable.

Just thought to share my post Kiss run around.

My agent Travelrepublic.com were very specific that I was Atol bonded and should claim against the CAA.

The CAA said I should contact my credit card company. Barclaycard.

Barclaycard agreed but I needed to speak to a specific department who would call me back in 48 hours.

So Barclaycards Customer Care rep from Teeside Kevin Rees called me today and with great authority told me in needed to contact Travel Republic for a pre-completed form to make a claim against ATOL from the CAA. He had been speaking to lots of Travelrepublic customers and they were very good and helpful.

Luckily I asked him to email me the link.

His mail arrived apologising for the problems he was having with the link but in fact it was the CAA that we needed to claim from.

So I went to the CAA website again tonight.

Are you fed up with my story yet?

I found this: Download Flight Options/Kiss flights claim form

I particularly like the bit where the CAA spell out that if you paid on a credit card that they will not pay. Thats page 2 section 1.

I must therefore make a claim against the credit card company under section 75 of the Comsumer Credit Act 1974.

I've sent a snotty mail to Kevin. We'll see how they respond.

Good mind just to go straight to small claims.

I figured I'd been smart booking dodgey Viking on my credit card and checking they were ATOL bonded. Actually I have just given myself a A great waggily tail to chase.

Then I cashed in 8000 points for £20 of M&S vouchers which won't cover the wine it's going to take me to calm down now!

Who has a credit card company that's better value?

Phew!  What a nightmare Frank [or Mandy] I think you'll need more than a few wines to calm down after that. Good luck with it all & enjoy Arillas.
