QuoteThe no-fly zone for this period has moved east to a line stretching from Prestwick on the west coast to Humberside on the east coast and south to a line just north of Birmingham. Airports which fall within the no-fly zone include all those in Northern Ireland, Ronaldsway, Prestwick, Carlisle, Manchester, Liverpool, Doncaster, Humberside, Leeds Bradford and East Midlands and some Scottish island airports including Campbeltown, Islay and Barra.
This is from www.nats.co.uk
and Manchester airport has said it will be closed until 7pm tonight - we're due to fly at 7.25am tomorrow....
Janis x
Ah no Janis you must be gutted. When will you find out for definite. Got my fingers and everything else crossed for you.
Pauline x
Ah Janis. I don't know what to say except I hope & pray that you'll reach Arillas tomorrow. I'll keep everything crossed for you & everyone else.
This damn volcano is causing so many problems & heartache.
Thinking of you.
Sara.....xx
Thank you for your concern. It's an awful situation to be in. My daughter's in Monaco at the moment for the Grand Prix and due to fly back to Leeds Bradford tomorrow (possibly!) LBA's website says next update 18.00.
Manchester airport doesn't say when the next update will be, but they're closed 1300 - 1900 today.
The only good news at the moment is that our taxi company doesn't need to be informed until 25 minutes before they were due pick us up (so we'll be letting them know at half three tomorrow morning, lol)
Janis x
Hi Janis, we are in the same boat. Due to fly from Manchester 5.15 p.m. tomorrow night. Not looking good. We are sat here all packed and raring to go. 2 weeks off work and all our goodbyes said. Only one happy is the cat who may miss the 2 week stay in the cattery! We are watching the web and waiting. xx
It is all so depressing. Jen and I have also got everything crossed for you all. Still time for something to turn up....
Phil
We've not been in this situation before, but on the positive side we are lucky because neither of us have had to take time off work for this holiday.
It will simply be a matter of (hopefully) going in a few days' time, fingers crossed.
I'm still b..... frustrated by it all though.
What about Sandy and Dad? I'd hoped to meet them in our first few days and their last few - after their initial disruption I'm sure they don't either want or need any more....
We may miss Martinw and Mary as well - and we were looking forward to seeing them again
Janis x
Fingers crossed for you Janis , hope to see you in Arillas next week . We due to fly friday from manchester , so worrying .
Yammas
Dave
Hi Dave - we're probably on the same flight, lol!
Janis x
Janis I have my fingers and everything else crossed for you, a lot can happen in a few hours so there's still a chance. Our holidays are important to us all and I just can't believe that a volcano in Iceland can cause so much hassle.
Jill X
janis, we've got everything crossed for you as well, i can't beleive that all the planning and saving we do to get to our paradise place can be ruined by a b****y volcano in iceland!!
thinking of everyone who is due to go in the next few days
ger x
Hi Janis hope you manage to get there we live straight across the aire valley and noticed that no planes were going in or out since about lunchtime
There were quite a few flights this morning but stopped departures and arrivals at 1 pm approx
and its still quiet now
Tony
This volcano has an awful lot to answer for! I'm keeping everything crossed for you too, Janis and Wendy and everyone else hoping to fly tomorrow...
lynn xx
Keep your chin up Janis, you will go to the ball
KEEP THE FAITH
everything crossed for you
We've got everything crossed for you Janis .
Here's hoping everything comes right for you.
Flippin' Volcano !!!! it's got a lot to answer for!
Joan x x x
Just spoken to Janis on the phone and she has spent all day looking at NATS and Manchester Airport as the rest of you most propely have. I see 1 'o'clock is the latest news, will keep my fingers crossed for you all and hope you are not held up to long and that once you get on your flights you can go straight to Corfu without any diversion. Love Viv
Janis & Barry, Wendy & Stu, Marcus & everyone else due to fly tomorrow. I gotta 'log out' now, so GOOD LUCK to all. You must all be wearing the carpet out at the moment, anxiously waiting for any news. I hope that when I 'log on' tomorrow morning the wind direction will have changed & some of you will all ready be on your way.
Thinking of you all........................Sara..x
So typical of you viv. Like jen and me, you are worryng about janis/Barry, wendy/Stu and anyone else being affected by all this. And all the time you and Pete having been grounded for a little while by your health. That's what makes us Arilliacs. We care....
Phil
And our Sara is one too.... "Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post." Not at all surprised it was you luvver... think I said so already
Phil
Hi, Janis. Best of luck from us, also. I`m a great believer in positve thinking - so you`ll get there.
We`ll be panicing soon, as we fly in June.
Paul and Heather
Paul mate, it is all of us.
Quotepositve thinking - so you`ll get there.
Exactly.
love to Heather too
Phil
Thank you all for your wishes. My daughter, Charlotte, together with husband Darrel, Darrel's brother and his wife, are in Monaco for the Grand Prix and due to fly back into Leeds Bradford tomorrow.... This is another flight that ain't gonna happen.
Ah well
We'll be in paradise soon
Janis x

According to latest news on Danish TV the
British Airports should be open this morning.
Unfortunately the cloud is moving towards us,
so my flight might be in jepardy on June 11th.
Connie x
Pleased to hear Janis is en route.
Unfortunately Bristol airport is currently closed ... anxiously awaiting updates in time for tonight's 17:50 Easyjet flight to Corfu ...
Hope you hear good news and in plenty of time. Viv
Janis & Barry reached paradise about 1/2 hour ago via sidari and san stef, bit overcast but as sshe says who cares. Viv
GREAT NEWS Viv,

We are due to fly from Manchester at 5.15. p.m. this evening. Fingers crossed! Tracey left Birmingham on time this morning and is now in Arillas safe and sound. Hope everyone makes it including us! Bye for now. W. x
Hi Mick & Jill, I believe Dave and Ann were on the same plane as Janice and Barry, Nice to know Tracy got there as well. Dont know of anybody meant to be flying today from london airports so its Wendy and Stu we have to keep our fingers crossed for now.
It sounds lke this could go on for some time yet our Michelle's meant to be going to the canaries with her 2 children at beginning of July and she's already getting in a bit of a tiz about it.
It's just amazing what nature can do to upset all the human race when you think about all the technology we have and it can still beat us. Viv

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIII for Janis and Barry :D
Well, Erja just said it all !!
Have a happy holiday Janis & Barry.

So glad everyone made it so far, fingers crossed for everyone else. As I am typing this the news has just come on, said if the airports aren't closed there will be long delays. Hope our flight on the 4th is ok but who knows. I know we all complain about not getting away but it's the lives of the families who run small buisness's in these countries that will suffer the most as its their lively hood.
Wish I could swear on here, VOLCANOs aagghhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well Wendy & Stu are on there way departed Manchester at 17.24 and over Luxembourg as i type
I quess your on one of the site's that shows you where a certain flight is, and they are not using there mobile on the plane. joke.
I think they are the last one's on the forum to fly today and all seem to have got their flights even if held up a bit. Have we anyone going tomorrow or can we all sleep easy in our beds tonight.
I recieved an e-mail this morning sent yesturday and part of it was as follows.......
at the moment there is no beach at all. I sat on the bench by Portofino and the waves were hitting the pebble wall at the base of the path, sea spray was hitting my face as I sat there. Saturday we had this horrenous storm I got caught in the rain and it was as if I had fallen in a pool.......
but the writer didnt say anything about wishing they were back here. So im guessing that its still better then not being there. lol. and that they are glad that the ash didnt stop them. Viv
Great news our friends are getting there, lets hope we all get there on our dates.....pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaassssseeee.
Bugger!
Egg's may be busy the next 7 days plus then, - So many pals so little time.
We got plenty for all though - Ear plugs to the ready all - Got so much to tell ya.
Negg
Great news that Janis has made it- positive thinking, amazing!!!!!
Hope everyone else gets away now.
Paul
Its great news that everyone has got to Arillas today. I managed to track Janice's Thomson flight after it took off from Manchester. It was good to see it enroute.
I wonder how many of us will go through this awful anxiety, with the ash, over the next few months. Not many I hope.
Hi Terry when you use virtuel radar do you lose the planes on the map as they fly over the Alps
I can track them until this point and then they seem to disappear and cant pick them up going down the Adriatic
Tony
Hi, Tony
Yes I do lose them quite often and not just over the alps. I always have http://www.radarvirtuel.com/ and http://www.flightradar24.com/? open at the same time and its interesting how one will find aircraft that the other one doesn't.
This page gives a lot of detail about how it works and why planes are lost when they go out of range of the ADS-B receivers.

terry
we will all be in the same boat,in the months coming, lets hope it calms down ,,,,,,,,,yammas
Cheers Terry will check it out
Hey Kevin, thats where you may LITERALLY be, in the SAME BOAT!! heh heh
ahhhhh thanks jo ..lol......yammas
What lovely people you all are!
I've only just read the updates on this post - thank you all for your concern and, as you know, we all made it!
We'd met the lovely Wendy and Stuart previously so it was good to renew our aquaintance and we met Tracey for the first time (first of many I hope)
In spite of the uncertainty going, and the long delay coming back we'd do it all over again - and again - and again
Janis x x
Janis luvver, back on thread, we all bother when a member loses their time back home. Eileen had a nightmare of a time, and we all thought many more would. Nothing makes an Arilliac more unhappy than that. We watched your progress and you made it. And have loved the reports there and since.
Phil
