Title: Cancelled Easyjet flight Corfu to Bristol
Post by: Sandy x on February 09, 2010, 09:24:53 PM
My brother has just received an email from EJ saying his flight from Corfu to Bristol on 30 August has had to be cancelled due to unforseen circumstances! They have offered him a choice of a refund or moving to another date....not easily done. Has anyone else had this problem?

Sandy just looked at easyjet site they are still advertising a flight for 30 August from Corfu to Bristol.

I've just received two emails saying my flights from BRS on 24 May and 27 Aug have been cancelled, though I can still book the same flights online albeit at a much higher price. I've not been able to get through to customer services due to a large number of calls, though I have got an automatice response from an email which said they are receiving a large number of emails and therefore it may take a little longer than usual to get a reply. Will keep you informed.

Yes, we saw that the flight is still advertised and my brother can't get a response from the link they have provided to alter it. He will either have to go back the previous Friday (kids have to get to school) or accept the cancellation and rebook from Gatwick - all very inconvenient and of course now more expensive.

We have also had an email saying our return flight on 30 August has been cancelled but it is still showing as available to book on the website.  I have emailed them and am waiting a response.

Does anyone have a telephone number for Easyjet?  Can't find one on the site anywhere - unfortunately that is how they keep the cost down, don't have phones!

Thanks Dai. If your flight on 27th August is also cancelled then that does away with the option of my brother and Cath returning then instead of the 30th.....

Cath, there is a phone number somewhere but you will take hours getting through.

I've just received an email too, cancelling our flight for the 29th March, yet it's still showing as available on their site. I've also logged in to check my details & theres no mention on there about a cancellation - just doesn't make any sense.

Sara....are you flying from Bristol in March? Thought their timetable only started in May?

My brother is flying out on 13 August but no mention of that flight being cancelled....only the return on the 30th. It certainly doesn't make sense. I wonder if Phil and Jen have had an email....

Thanks Dai, I'll hold fire until tomorrow  and hope I get a reply to my emails.

My email is the same - they have only cancelled the return flight on Mon 30th, not the outbound on Fri 13th

Yes, I am Sandy or rather I was!!

Mon, 29th March & returning on Fri 9th April. Just can't understand why theres no message on the confirmation page when you log in to view your flight details.
In my email, only our outbound flight has been cancelled.

Such a nuisance Sara when they only fly twice a week from Bristol. You could come back (or go!) from Gatwick but then you have the car in the wrong place.

The email seems to imply you can alter the cancelled flight to another "on the same route" but that's not much use if there aren't any.

Exactly Sandy. My only alternative is to look at flying from Gatwick

My emails say all our flights are cancelled but when I log into my easyjet account all flights are still shown as confirmed. Hopefully things will be clarified quickly.

I'm afraid Sandy luvver we have. Only our outward flight though, which is even more nonsensical. I had missed this thread earlier because I have been busy trying to get to the bottom of it.

I tried to take the "free" transfer and arrive on 9th, even though I'd get grief from work, but the website then only offered me the same Monday 12th flight at an extra £40 each. It looks more and more like EasyJet taking early bookings then trapping you into paying more later. If the law is as they quote, any transfer should be "free." But transfer to the same, so-called cancelled flight?? And extra charges?

We can always find somewhere to stay for a few extra days (NO WAY am I staying for less time) but what it looks like is a big chunk of extra money, whatever we do. My email to them is still being written - I got so angry I thought I'd better get on the forum to calm me down.

quite a few of us have got a lot of hassle and thinking to do. But NOTHING will stop Jen and me going.

Is this really true, has someone hacked into the easyJet site or has there been some almighty cock up?

None of this makes any sense at all.

If it is true, it will ruin the dreams for many of us for 2010 and we will surely wonder whether it is worth ever again travelling with a so called budget airline.

If it isn't - hooray!

OMG I've just looked at similar flights flying from Gatwick [31st March - 10th April] + 2 x luggage. The total cost is £818.98........ our original flights which were booked last July cost £149.57.  Thats an extra £669.41. Can you believe that?
I've just poured myself a strong Ouzo.

I've just emailed Watchdog with this. Any further ideas? I'll do it, (un)happily.

I have emailed Dimitris to make sure he knows that our dates are now uncertain. Just hope he can still offer us a room...

Sara luvver, I daren't try yet - we already know what they're looking like. Strong Ouzo? It'll be a whole bottle of vodka for me....

We must all look after each other and get through this together, keep each other informed etc.

I always thought easyJet were a reputable company so I am still treating this report with scepticism until I read more about it, but it doesn't look good.

It has the potential to ruin the Arillas dream for some of us.

Annie. I wondered if it was a 'dodgy email'. Maybe/hopefully its like Rick said - someone has hacked into Easyjet's website.
I guess we'll just have to wait & see who gets a reply first or who can manage to speak to them first.
Just poured another Ouzo Phil. What a pain in the %@$@ all this is.

None of it makes any sense. I could understand it better if they said ALL the flights from Bristol had been cancelled and the route was no longer running.....but odd flights here and there is really weird. It's March, July and August that we know of already. They have clearly sent out these emails without adjusting the rest of the website ie the timetable and people's individual accounts.

Let's hope it doesn't spread to Gatwick and Manchester.....

I am so upset and angry at this news. A holiday is so important and it is something to look forward to get you through the winter. We are actually bullied by companies like Easyjet, and it also another instance of corruption and cheating in our society, with no consideration for the customer.

I think lots of complaints to Watchdog or similar are required, especially with the increases in prices of alternative flights.

It would be a very clever email that contained all of our personal booking references and linked to the https secure area of Easy Jet, but possible. Could be a disgruntled employee of theirs I suppose. Like eveyone else I'm clinging to that hope too.

And if it is, will anyone ever trust easyJet again?

Wow this topic is spreading like a wild fire, we can all understand why.

Shame on EasyJet do they realise that they have peoples hard earned Holidays in their hands.

Its time to come clean and make a full statment on this by publishing their reasons on their web site

None of us Rick.

I have been pricing up alternatives (Sara, I bit the bullet in a vodka haze...) and found a No Frills Airline flight, complete with zero cost Airline Failure Insurance???? (really inspires confidence that!) It comes in at what  Sleazy Jet now seem to want to charge extra for my "free" transfer. Most seem to be touting the EasyJet flight that has been "cancelled" but at a higher price.

We really don't want to go fom Gatwick but will if it comes in significantly cheaper. Happy days...

Go n' check your emails everyone.
I just received this from Easyjet.

IMPORTANT: your booking details have changed

< /span>Dear Customer

If you received an email earlier tonight that your flight was cancelled, please ignore the previous email. Your flight is NOT cancelled. We would like to sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by a technical error.

We are writing to let you know that we have had to reschedule some of our flights. Unfortunately, your flight is one of those affected.

I'm hoping and praying that you can all get this absolutely terrible situation resolved in an acceptable way

Still not happy about my stressful evening, but at least I'll sleep well now - although that will probably be due to the several Ouzos I've had tonight :)

Hope everyone else flying from Bristol are O.K

My brother isn't thrilled with the flight time change on 30 August. They were meant to be flying back earlier in the day and now don't get back until gone midnight, and then a drive to North Devon - but fortunately his children aren't back at school till the day after.

And as you say phil....at least the precious holiday is safe and you don't all have to chase around looking for other flights.

These new emails seem bogus too, as there are several errors in ours regarding times and flight numbers. I think easyjet need to put some sort of message on their website to clarify the position.

Oh no. Please don't say that Dai. Surely your flight numbers can't change.
I found this email address tonight on the Watchdog website. If I was you, I send this Andy an email.

Thankfully this is my last comment on this subject as I have managed, at last, to cancel my unwanted flights. I did this by following the advice of Inactive. I must say that sending the e mail to andy@easyjet.com resulted in a very quick and satisfactory response. Anyone else with a problem with easyjet should contact Andy Harrison the Chief Executive, who appears to get things done. What a pity the rest of the company does not follow his example!

Good Luck Dai.

Thanks for the email address Sarah. I emailed Andy and within 40 mins had a response apologising for the confusion and confirming my flights are as they were before. It seems the whole point of the exercise was to advise passengers about the changes to flight times (which they already told me about in December). A system malfunction (haven't heard that one before) caused some erroneous emails to be issued.
So for us, everything is as it was 24 hours ago, before the emails arrived.
I do like a happy ending.

Reading this thread, we had a strange phone call last night offering us extra legroom on our flight!
They new our flight and flight number also our names and new we were booked on that flight but they were not  from Thomson who we booked it with
The number was witheld, they went on to ask why we used that particular airport and Thomson then asked again if we would like extra leg room as they could arrange it and it would be a lot cheaper than Thomson which of course we declined unfortunately it was Anne who answered the phone otherwise they would have received some choice and quite colourful language had i answered it ;-)
The trouble is some folks are easily conned by these scrotes and probably think they are getting a good bargain ,that is until they check their bank account and a substantial amount of cash has gone AWOL
The thing is some people must give them their card details otherwise it wouldn't be worth them ringing you
Its not a bad little earner if they can get details of 1 in every 100 calls and clear a few Grande out of some poor unsuspecting souls savings
JUST BEWARE OF THESE UNSCRUPULOUS CRETINS and take care all
           Tony
PS forgot to mention they also offered pre booked seats to sit together and travel arrangements to the airport !

Oh dear what a load of trouble. Hope you all feel a bit less anxious now, terrible shock for everyone.

No way of knowing who made this call then Tony? I don't like people ringing out of the blue and they always sound as though they know you well. Almost like they are personal friends, just puts you on the back foot when they are like that.

Flaming questionnaire people at Manchester always get short shrift aswell. I might make it all up next time that would be worth a laugh.

It's an easy jet cock up. No flights are cancelled. I was emailed at 19.05 yesterday to cancel the flights and then emailed at 23.15 to say it was a mistake. I phoned Easy Jet today and was told that due to a "technical error" 20,000 flights were cancelled last night.

I feel sorry for the people that actually requested refunds then found & paid for alternative flights with another airline.

I'm also feeling sorry for my daughter at the moment. She left for Heathrow this morning with my two nieces to go on a long awaited four day trip to New York. She rang earlier to say that their flight was delayed, but now it has been cancelled due to the bad weather in the U.S. All flights into New York have been cancelled. Shes on her way home now absolutely gutted.

I too had the same frustration as the rest of you but have to give Easy jet their due if you use the live chat button on their web page someone does answer you immediately and they looked into it straight away for me and confirmed it was just a flight change something that we were infomed of in december and when I went into my account booking details it was already changed to what we had been informed.  But again cant fault the live chat option - this was discovered after trying to call and after following all instructions phone cut off so I am glad I found this feature and would most defintely urge others to use it for any queries in future.

I agree Tracey and thanks for the advice. We will.

But I have to disagree about this aspect of the time changes

Quotesomething that we were infomed of in december

because we are signed up with them, and have never been informed of our time change until after last night's disaster. We found out about the change on arillas.com, some weeks ago as the posts show. And the botched email last night was supposed to be their attempt to inform us, weeks after the change had happened.

ianhlong expressed my views precisely - the Toyota of the skies. But they can't "recall" and repair the damage to my well being that they made last night. This sort of c**k up is probably minimal to their bottom line, but my god did it hurt many of our members.

Same with my brother phil....I had told him of the time change from learning of it some weeks ago on the forum but EJ did not inform him till last night.

All those flights "cancelled"....there must have been a lot of angry people last night and a lot of calls to EJ today!

Useful to remember the online chat....I'd forgotten about that but that is where I found out that the October flights from Gatwick will be released in March.
