Well thats us all booked up and paid for, arriving on the 4th June till the 11th June staying at the Marina as Mam will be coming with us again and they have the lift. Also just booked today for the 24th September until 1st October again staying at the Marina. Can't get away without Mam now she loved it sooooo much last September. Thought she could sit on the balcony and people watch while we go for our walks in the afternoon so if any forum members are there give her a wave as you pass you would make her day.
Tony & Glenda are also there for those dates, will be celebrating their wedding and my birthday in June, should be a good holiday.
Jill X
My birthday's June as well, Jill - have one for me! You're very lucky, being able to book for both dates - I'm still trying to persuade Barry we can go in September as well as May, but I'll have to be good and save some pennies first
Janis x
Hope to see you there then, Jill - we arrive on the 7th June. :)
Both our birthdays are in June, but we won't be celebrating them until after we return. One year we will have to time it better........
lynn xx
My birthday is the 8th so we will have to meet for a drink Lynn, we come home on the 11th and it's our 30th wedding anniversary on the 14th. Busy month June isn't it ha ha
Sounds like a plan Mick and Jill :)
Janis keep trying there Arillas is concerned they can't win ha ha. Our daughter is now thinking of booking up for September and staying at the Mirage with the children
I'll try, Jill - working on it!
Looking forward to that drink, Jill!

Hi Jill.
Looking forward to meeting you and Mick. You will deffo recognise me, (Glenda did) never met her b4 and she came up behind me and said "are you riggers" is it obvious ;D
yammas to all.....
Jill luvver, you will recognise him like you did me and Jen. Wish we could be there to join in....
Apparently now he's the man with three lifters full of glasses and no leaners. Well said our Lynne!
(translation - 3 arms lifting drinks, and no arm to lean on the bar. Anyone remember lifters and leaners?)
Phil
Lol Phil... :) i don't remember them.
Thanks Phil, but no sorry, I don't remember them either!
LIFTERS AND LEANERS
There are just two kinds of people on earth today,
Just two kinds of people, no more, I say.
Not the rich and the poor, for to count a man's wealth
You must first know the state of his conscience and health.
Not the humble and proud, for, in life's little span,
Who puts on airs is not counted a man.
Not the happy and sad, for the swift counting years
Bring each man his laughter and each man his tears.
No, the two kinds of people on earth I mean
Are the people who lift and the people who lean.
Wherever you go you will find the world's masses
Are always divided in just these two classes.
And oddly enough you will find, too, I ween,
There's only one lifter to twenty who lean.
In which class are you? Are you easing the load
Of overtaxed lifters who toil down the road?
Or are you a leaner who lets others bear
Your portion of labour and worry and care?
- Ella Wheeler Wilcox -
just found it.....
Absolutely beautiful riggers. Thanks for posting it. Mine was a bit more basic, a beer advert about lifters and leaners. I vaguely remember it from the sixties I think. But your post says it all. I have picked out one line of the poem but agree with it all.
QuoteWho puts on airs is not counted a man
Well us Arilliacs drunks never cast the first stone - we're too p****d to see the stone in the first place! Airs and graces are non-existent to us, We just get on with what life is really about. And I don't want to be counted anyway.
I just tried to sleep after a totally enjoyable chatroom with Lynn and Colin. I hope I was enough to handle them both. Back up again, after about ten minutes in bed. I will be posting on the insomniacs thread soon.
Phil
Riggers bet I make a fool of myself and introduce myself to lots of tourists thinking its you but hey good way to meet people ha ha
