Title: Christmas Star
Post by: TerryW on December 09, 2009, 04:10:13 PM
The Star of Bethlehem shines over many Christmas Scenes, but our star- Marika -  captures the sun and moon shining over our favourite Arillas Scenes.

Here is a Christmas Video that really shows her skills and her eye for beauty.

Its a shame that YouTube has to compress the files, because a lot of the quality is lost. If anyone is interested, I can make the original available for download.

Happy Christmas, Marika and to all Arilliacs.

Wow, that is completely stunning, Terry, and does our Marika proud.  Thank you so much for posting.  It fitted so well with the music too - what is it, by the way?

Your Photos are amazing Marika and I think you should publish them on a site like this

http://www.redbubble.com/groups/corfu

Mark, who did the Royal Ionian Posters, has work published there and you can sell them there as well. http://www.redbubble.com/people/hank44

You can download the CD from here, and if you like it :-), you can then buy it. ( I think I am covered by syaing that :-( )

Thank you Terry, both you & Marika are stars.

Marika, have you ever thought about  making an Arillas calendar? I'm sure we would all buy one - I know I would. Quite a good little business, I think!... &  perhaps a percentage could be donated to one of the local animal charities.
I'd love to do it myself, but I'm not as talented as you.

Oh yes Sara, I thought about that last year, before Christmas!
So I ordered one for me at home :-)
But it is a small one!
It was a present from a company!
After the calender arrived, I had a look in the Internet for prices, but I think,
they will be too expencive than to sell (order price plus to get a little bit money for it)
But I still have a look, to find a good site to order them for a very good price!
Thank you Sara for you very good thoughts :-) :-) :-)

You have the talent Marika, but I don't think you  believe it yourself. We believe in you and because of that I would also buy a calendar. You have a passion for photography, that is a gift, and I wish you could reap the rewards from it.

I can understand your reluctance if a financial outlay is required, but you have some people on here who would already buy a calendar from you.

Follow your dream Marika, we will help you as much as we can.

They are indeed beautiful photographs and Marika is a  very clever photographer – and Arillas is a very photogenic place. All the photos posted on the forum are lovely too from other members, we are all lucky that we have discovered such a lovely place, all would make fantastic Calendars- Marika your Calendar looks very professionally laid out

Marika, you have what is called "a good eye" in other words you can look at a scene and see the photograph in it. Your calender would be a best-seller among Arillas addicts, of that I have no doubt - if fact I'd take one

What goes around comes around.

I had this Google Alert today and guess what - its Marika's Sunset Video, plus others of Arillas. Its all for the good though because its yet another website where Arillas can be seen. If you look at the thumbnails below you will see one of Erja's Videos with "Food? - I'm there" on the pic. :-). We never know where we may crop up on the net

This isn't really relevant to Christmas Star, but it is to calendars...
Each year, for Mother's Day, my eldest daughter creates a calendar for me with every family member on - each month has two or three photos on, and also a photo of the birthday boy or girl when it's their birthday.
It's a lovely present and well received

Janice, we also get calendars showing the grandchildren and they are fantastic presents.

I had a Skype chat with Marika yesterday and she told me about the snow where she lives, and the photos she had taken and published on Facebook.

I think there is one particular photo that shows how artistic Marika is and I hope she doesn't mind me showing it on here. Its simple but very effective. Its also important to know that Marika doesn't use an expensive camera and it is her eye for pictures like the one below that make her our Star

:-D Very nice Terry :-D
Well done :-) A beautiful idea from you! Thank you :-)

We had only for 2 days that snow, but it was a lot!
Too warm :-(
But now after exactly 2 weeks, we have again a little bit snow!
And it is so cold that we have it since 4 days.
And - we will see - if I can take again some photos.
End of the week, they say in the news, that we get a lot new snow!
Hmmm! Maybe ;-) You must know, where I live here, we have not many times snow!
And it is maybe too cold in the moment for new snow!
Night: -10°C   Daytime: -3°C

This I took today ;-)

Nice pic Marika. We had about 6 inches last night and we have -10 forecast for tonight

Its quite difficult to get good photographs of snow.
