Excellent! May just catch you on your last night. If my dad and I go from Bournemouth we will arrive on 6 May. If we resort to Easyjet, it may well be a week earlier. I love it at that time of year when everywhere is just waking up for the season.

ratbag.... to quote a certain Eileen who posts on here. Don't get Sandy and Dad drunk - I want the privelege later in the season....

Seriously though, so glad for you. Make the most of it (ha ha - as if that needed saying...)

It would be lovely to see you and your dad again Sandy.  I agree there's something special about Arillas in April...could that be a song?

Thanks Phil, we'll certainly make the most of it, late breakfasts, early retsinas, gadding around, long chats, late nights...get the picture? (hee...hee...hee)

Oh I get the picture... They said I should have put a picture in the attic. Well it was too late when I did. I bet it gets younger-looking by the day... Glad I wastn't called Dorian!

Thanks girls.

My mum is 84 and Sandy's dad is 91(?) Do you think Sandy and I to still be going Arillas when we are their ages? Will our livers stand the pace?!!

I certainly hope so Eileen....I come from good stock in that department!! My dad was summoned to the geriatric clinic at his surgery a few years ago because he hadn't been to the doctor's for years....he was given the once over by a young doctor(blood pressure, diet etc) then they came on to alcohol consumption. My dad was asked how many units he drank each day....so he mentioned the sherry at lunch time, the G&T before dinner, the wine with dinner, and the brandy night cap. The poor doctor was horrified and pronounced that my dad would never reach a ripe old age if he carried on like that!!

That must have been about 5 years ago so he was 86 then......

Sure will Kevin....but he actually prefers the 5*. He says the 7* is wasted on him.....I don't understand these things as I drink the real stuff....(retsina that is, not brandy)

Has anyone booked to go to Arillas, EARLY April?

We are going over on Mon 29th March - Fri 9th April. I didn't know it at the time of booking, but we will be there at Easter time, which is going to be really special. It's also our 27th wedding anniversary on the 2nd April, so it will be a double celebration - can't wait.

Well done Sara....leave some Retsina in Night Owl for me :-)

Miss you again, but never mind we may briefly see each other at the airport.   Are you back over in October again?  We are over the last two weeks in July,  then I'm back again around 16th October.

Will do Eileen ;)

Yes, we're going over in October, but not until the 23rd. Thinking over driving over & staying for a few weeks - well, thats the plan at the moment.

Speak soon.

Sounds good Sara.  We are trying to fit in another drive over this year too.

You probably read this the last time I posted it, but if you care to do a little forward planning and buy your tickets before 26th March Anek are offering a 50% reduction on all fares.  Tickets can be used up 10/1/2011.  It's a substantial saving when taking a car.

QuoteThinking over driving over

Should read 'thinking ABOUT driving over' I really should proof read what I've written before posting!!! Not a drop of retsina had passed my lips - honestly.

Thanks Eileen, I had read about Anek. 50% is a good saving.

Sara, it´s ok to be thinking over driving over. it makes just as much sense!
Anyway, it´s an adventure travelling that way, and well worth the extra time spent.

Well, I've committed ourselves now. Yesterday, on the last day of their sale, I booked our ferry crossing in October with Anek. Venice to Corfu return. We've only booked deck seats because we plan to stay in Venice for the night & do a little bit of sightseeing.
Total cost 170 euros....fantastic price.
Any tips about routes etc would be much appreciated :)

Hi Sara
Pat and I will be going over on the Anek ferry the beginning of May.
We have used Minoen  and Superfast but this will be our fist time with Anek. We go through the tunnel then motorway through France and Italy via Mont Blanc to Venice.
850 miles from tunnel to the port.
Let us know if you need any more info.
