Feta bake.....This was the new dish I tried at Brouklis this year.....absolutely delicious and highly recommended. I have just cooked my own version here tonight.... nowhere near as good as Roula's but it did taste vaguely similar!
Sounds good Sandy, what`s the recipe lik?
ooohh....sounds like JUST the cholesterol-laden dish I favour! Details please Sandy. Dont know if I could possibly deviate from my feta stuffed peppers and lamb chops combo though....
Now your talking Jo, would love to try them with the feta fourno.....
Yes Riggers, a feta feast!!! where is your hol report by the way?
Well...it's very simple and something along the lines of chopped red onion, red and green peppers drizzled in olive oil and baked in the oven, then add some slabs of feta cheese and bake a bit more till the cheese is soft. I actually now prefer it to saganaki and I'm sure it must be better for you....
Mmmmmmm tomorrow must get them ingredients and give it a go... (mouth watering now) :)
And I'm positively drooling....
Thanks Sandy, must try that one!!
lynn xx
I`ll try that tomorrow Sandy, it sounds lovely. Got all the ings in the plot, bought Feta today. Yummy.
Saganaki with vitamins.... as jen just said, rather takes away the point of cholesterol city - but sounds gorgeous to me. Shall be trying it soon....
It's one of my favourites and so easy to cook.
Slice onion, peppers and beef tomato.
Place in an oven proof dish.
Put a slab of Feta cheese on top.
Sprinkle with dried mixed herbs then pour over the best quality (Greek of course) olive oil you can find.
Bake in the oven for about half an hour (until the cheese starts to brown a little) then enjoy with fresh bread.
This recipe was given to me by Kostas (on the Beach) Kaloudis so if you've eaten it there this is how it was made but I think everyone makes it there own way so be creative.
Thank you Bex....that has to be good then. I missed out the tomato.....but it still tasted pretty good!
Ah yes, I have had this many times in arillas. It sometimes comes under the name baked feta or oven baked feta. The sadlly departed Arilla Inn used to do a fabulous version. The Marina does a nice one as well.
Al fresco dining tonight. Picked up some raw tiger prawns from Morrisons for 99p (out of date tomorrow) and rattled up a scrumptious prawn saganaki. Nice grren salad, crusty bread and some crisp sauvignon blanc to wash it down. Jan had a big smile on her face the whole time.
So would we both rothers1946. It is exactly our kind of food. What with feta fourno, I'm drooling here. I really will be the size of an elephant after two weeks there...
lol

Have made the Feta Fourno for my tea and am enjoying eating it right now - delicious!
DaisysMum , stop dripping olive oil and melted feta on the keyboard !
LOL! Bad manners, sitting at the computer whilst eating tea I know!
