Title: Arillas holidays and Dimitris' website
Post by: justphil on June 25, 2009, 03:50:02 AM
10 days from my eighth trip to Arillas, I can't but help reflect on what it all means. I am well known on the forum for my views, my reputation and my attitude. But on Facebook there are 57 Arillas Addicts I have never met, 22 forum members I have talked to here but never met, and 14 I have met and amongst whom are many lifelong friends. There are many more friends who don't go on Facebook.

The forum on Dimitris' website is a daily fix for me. It is to many others. We have been accused of being a clique but we welcome anyone who understands and joins in. We inevitably defend, sometimes wrongly, whatever happens. But the whole point is that Arillas is a refreshingly welcoming, satisfying and honest place to be.

Holiday or Home asked JohntheRef. Well for us it is both. The truth is we might never have met so many wonderful people without the forum. But we would still be addicted to our Corfiot hosts and Arillas.

Oh shut up Phil. We've heard it all before

Yes Phil, we HAVE heard it all before - BUT there is no reason for you to shut up, it does no harm to remember what a great service this site provides for all us people who would like to be in Arillas more often than we are, but who, through various circumstances, are unable to fulfill our desires.
I am sure that there are many more than you actually realise, people like me, for whom this site is an important part of our lives and who view it on a daily basis but who, unlike YOU! do not say a great deal. (only joking!!) I was one of the few who became members of this site in its very early days - but I have still only JUST managed to get my "Silver" for the number of posts made. In those many years I have seen members come and go, but the ones that have gone were the ones that didn't have that same feeling for Arillas and it's people as the ones that are still here - and some of those have been around as long as me!
And Yes, to some casual visitors to the site those that remain may appear to be a "clique" - they are! But only in the sense that they are all like-minded people, it is not, and has never been, a "closed shop", anyone who feels the same way can join in and will be warmly welcomed by all those that are here, because "Arillas Addicts" (just like the indigenous inhabitants of Arillas) are a great bunch of people.!!

facebook is something you may call an industrial socializing network, but Arillas.com is the site where the reality and natural atittude of the place and people can be observed.
So i think no comparison can be sustained between a modern industrial site like facebook or a truly dedicated site managed by a devoted man like Dimitris and all others which keep his fresh breath day by day.
Long live Arillas...
