How's it looking in Corfu in general and Arillas in particular this year price wise?
We're off to Arillas in just over a month and we've heard some alarming reports from other places in Europe that food and drink prices are shooting up at a time when many people's incomes are shooting down.
I could do with some good news.
didnt find it more expensive than last year
2.50 euro for beer 3.50 euro vodka and coke
average 2 course meal and wine for 2 25-40 euro
you just get less for your pound
Hi Rick1883. All the reports we're reading here are that euro prices are hardly changed - it is the exchange rate that dictates whether it is a lemonade and two straws or two Black Russians. You can still eat well in Arillas for reasonable money.
I so agree that some good news is well overdue for just about all of us. Somehow though for Jen and me, being there is the good news.

was their in may and it was not to bad u could get two course meal for 9 euro plus a beer or wine so for 18 euro you get a meal it`s not like spain they put all there `s up
Hi
Just got back from Arilas and didn't find any increase in prices from last year only that sterling is so poor against the euro. That seems to be picking up a bit now though.
I did find a change in Porto Fino though. It was better than ever.
I went with my daughter and when we first got there she was saying it's nice but I don't know why you rave. Two or three days in and she was loving it and then didn't want to leave. Similarly people we met on their first visit were comparing it unfavourably to Turkey but by the time we came away they are going to book again for next year.
After the transfer over the mountains I say I'm going south next time but once I get there I realise again there's nowhere I'd rather be.

Had a similar experience in May in Pefkos. Most prices same as last year but in some of the tavernas some had come down. At that time we only got 1.09 euro to the pound so felt the difference to 2008. Crown currency exchange are offering 1.205 euro to the pond for September if you buy now. This was the rate we got in September 2008 from Co-op travel when we went to Kos. Reckon that in a couple of months the general exchange rate at the travel agents will be back to that.
Roll on Setember 112th for our first visit to Arillas.
Our friends came back from Lindos, Rhodes in the week, they have been there before and were in Arillas two years ago... They said things were about the same prices as before but the quality wasnt so good..... you would probably expect that though, they have to meet their costs and might have to use cheaper ingredients or smaller portions to compensate.
BG luvver, Lindos doesn't understand the word portion.... mind yous we only ate there once. Our plates were so full we could have fed nearly every cat there with what we left. It is such a lovely whitewashed village, it is nearly as good as Arillas. But for us nowhere else gets close...
