Title: brouklis rose wine
Post by: ronmonkey on June 17, 2009, 01:33:09 PM
speaking as somebody who normally has rose wine as a solid number 5 on my list of "foods of the devil" (it follows marmite, rice pudding, corned beef and satan's ultimate creation of cruelty - pineapple) i have to say that dimitris' fathers' homemade rose is fantastic.

dimitris said he made 600 litres this year and i am happy to report we put a serious dent in it!!

We only found Arillas (and Greece) in 2006. When we returned in late autumn 2008, Dimitris immediately remembered how much I had liked his father's rosé wine! He told me that the year's supply was finished, but somehow my glass was filled with that very special rosé at every meal we enjoyed at Brouklis. Both the wine and the courtesy are perfect examples of what makes Arillas so unique.
Emeralddragon, who hopes to be able to have a sip this autumn

it was lovely! and best of all it didnt give me a headache, i only have to sniff wine nowadays and i get a massive headache, so i did some scientific research whilst at brouklis, and am happy to report that no headache occured after consuming this wine.
do you think i could do research in all the other tavernas and apply for a grant to help with costs!!!!!

What an excellent idea, ger, if only, hey?!

I used to find wine gave me a headache, but found that the best way round it was to drink it more often, and drink plenty of water afterwards.  It's been worth persevering!!

Yes, I have to say we really loved the Brouklis rose too - the best wine we drank in Arillas, in fact.

I'll try that in September!  Red wine after the 1st glass and usually just lasts the 2nd glass, makes me "bunged up", I talk like i've got a cold!  Anybody else???

When I was there in May I had some of Brouklis delicous white wine I normally drink rose or red - acompanied by a bottle of water as it gives the nice feeling of having a drink but not feeling drunk and de hydrated. Will have to try the red wine next time

Take Care

Phil
Would you ask Dimitris to hide a case or two until September? That's if he can extract the stuff from your care. Go on Phil leave some for us.
