I've just received an email from a lovely family who stayed at our place last week. In singing their praises for Arillas they also gave a special mention to Yiota and how much they enjoyed visiting her shop.
I sent a text to Yiota thanking her for helping to make this family's first visit to Arillas so special. This set me thinking that on these boards we rightly sing the praises of the accommodation and restaurant owners but don't say much about the shopkeepers.
So let's thank the shopkeepers who do 'their bit' in making sure we enjoy our time in Arillas. Let's thank them for keeping us supplied with all our necessities (and booze), for remembering us and making us feel special and for passing on little snippets of information to help us get the most from our holiday.
Thanks to you all,
Eileenxxx
Errmmm...Dimitris I've made a mistake!! How embarrassing. Could you please change my Message Icon to a thumbs up instead of down!!! Eileenxxx
Yes i'll sing along with you Eileen on that one. You can get all your essentials that you have forgot to take and much much more. So yes a big thumbs "UP"

All the shop keepers in Arillas do a good job and always seem pleased to see you and not just because they want your money. Viv
Yiota is a lovely lovely woman. Every year she is one of the first who we always go and hug. she sends christmas cards each year and always buys the boys a little gift. We always try to buy any souvenirs from her as we really want to give her the business. She still calls Lewis little dirty knees from our first ever visit when he used to crawl round on her floor. He is now 14!
Special mention also to Irini who has the art shop, again a lovely kind hearted lady with gorgeous jewellery. Just wish I could afford!
hear hear!! so nice to know you can get absolutely anything in the shops for your holiday at any time of day and they are so helpful..genuine help which you dont often get in the uk.
Eileen.
You are quite correct with a thumbs up for the shopkeepers.
Each and every one take time to look after you and offer you a service that is most welcome.
I think I've said somewhere else on the forum that our holiday would not be complete without Di visiting Yiotas shop where the service is second to none. I would agree with Eileen all of the shop owners will go out of their way to help whether it's the bakery, one of the supermarkets or a gift shop, a great big thumbs up all round.
You've all said it, but Phil and Jen add their vote of thanks to all the shopkeepers. Quietly in the background, but an essential and welcoming part of our place. And top of the shops must go to Yiotta. She is a little diamond.
Can only whole-heartedly agree with everything everyone else has said.
A big thumbs up to all the shop keepers in Arllas, and would certainly agree about Yiotta.
Olga at Olga's Travel is lovely as well, as is everyone in Arillas.....

Yes indeed! All the shop keepers in Arillas have never been nothing but really helpful and polite. Yiota always gives me quick Greek lessons on how to improve my grammar so that I can converse more fluently the next time I pop in the shop.
In fact no one has never given me a bad service or attitude in any of the Arillas bars, shops, travel agents or tavernas:)
An excellent topic Eileen.
Yiota does a wonderful job and works so hard. She always has a fantastic welcome for us and her shop is like an Aladin's cave, full of lovely things.
However, we never feel like "foreigners" in any of the shops (despite our Greek being very poor) and you always get the feeling that the owners are genuinely pleased to see you again.
Roll on 30th August - I can't wait to see everyone again!
