Title: Lets do our bit for Arillas
Post by: TerryW on October 24, 2008, 10:52:10 PM
With the global credit crunch and recession in the UK, I think it obvious that next summer will quite difficult for holiday destinations.  With this in mind, I think we could do many things to "advertise" the fact that Arillas is a fantastic place for a holiday.

I don't think we should  have any fear that hoards of people will flock to Arillas and spoil it, We should have a greater fear that some of our favourite restaurants and hotels could struggle to survive.

We could all write more reviews on websites like Holidays Uncovered, post photographs with map markers on Panoramio so that they are displayed on Google Earth, and put slide shows and videos on Youtube. If the photos and videos have "tags" added that are used for searches we could highlight words like beautiful sunsets, gastronomical delights, wonderful honest people.  These are just a few ideas.

I have posted a couple of photos on Panoramio, but there are much better photos available from many forum members.

I think this could be a wonderful winter project for us, and we could hopefully give something back to Arillas

Terry

A good idea.  A little promotion of Arillas would benefit everyone in the long run.

It sounds very much like the Greek way of life, to me. For example , if a Greek gardener has excess produce he/she shares it with neighbours.
There's plenty of excess Arillas to share with ours.

Cheers
Negg

Terry, after what we have heard during 2008,  we are as worried as you.

QuoteWe should have a greater fear that some of our favourite restaurants and
hotels could struggle to survive.
There are some you would not believe...

We heard that view from the horses' mouths. And the credit crunch in UK will affect our Corfiot friends even worse. What can we do to help? Well, if you go with Eggy's calculations about 3%. A major advertising and promotional approach will never turn Arillas into Sidari or Kavos. Persuade people to go to Arillas. Point out the special magic it offers. Help them to get booked up. Find them flights and transfers. Keep our Arillas ALIVE.

Phil

If any of you are a Facebook member, why not invite your friends to join Arillas it is an open group so anybody can join. Jo Wissett is already a member. We could spread the word then. Yammas. Dimitris is a member too.

I have been a a member of Virtual Tourist for a couple of years now and I have always written a review after staying in Arillas and I am not the only one. Have look:

I always check destinations here or other independent travel website to get an honest view of where I am planning to travel.

Good idea - A Facebook Arillas Group would be another idea too! ;-)

Hi

I have put a few things on holidays uncovered but another one is holiday watchdog or real holiday reports, you can review arillas and the particular apartments/hotel.

Arillas is always reviewed very highly on these sites.  Might log into face book now and try that!

Hi Terry,
Good idea mate! I have already started this year by sending all my email contacts and friends details of Arillas with 'illustrations' by way of photos and my 'May 2008 slide show' video. There has been a lot of interest so far, I have passed the Arillas website details and also details of accomodation I would recomend so they can book 'independantly' so that the hotelliers can get the benefit! They are all amazed at the scenery and 'unspolit' nature of the resort. Hope they will put their money into the area and become 'converted' like the rest of us!
Yammas,
Martin.

Hi everyone
I too have joined the Arillas group on facebook and have now posted a photo album of Arillas I see people have joined who have never been to Arillas , asking about what it's like, so keep it up and I hope I am still employed next year so I don't have to cancel my next Arillas holiday
