We have just arrived back from two weeks in Arillas staying at the Mirage appartments.  The accomodation is brillant, very clean and everything you need. The only downside is the Air con is not very good and be AFRAID VERY AFRAID of the mosquitoes!!!!!!!!!!!!they are unrelenting.  MY poor husband has returned to the uk with over 40 bites and he wasn't the worst victim.  Take plenty of repellant.  Please don't let this stop you going though.  The resort is lovely although not very big, the beach is fabulous, snorkling is a must as is eating at Kostas on the Beach.  you pay a little more here for the picture perfect sunsets, however The Captains Grill bar is a must.  The food is fab, the prices are very reasonable and the owners and there children who wait on always give 100% to their customers.    The Marvel opposite is a place which is very hit and miss.  We found the waiter rude and surly.

If you do decide to go, OlGA's travel offer fab trips around the island, she is so helpful and made our holiday complete.      We met some lovely people during our two weeks and this resort I would recommend to couples and families who want a quieter, relaxed holiday.................Kavos it certainly is not.

Thanks for the great report and glad you enjoyed Arillas Despite those pesky mozzies!! The question is, will you be returning??

I'm sure that you must have caught The marvel on a bad day as the two brothers who run the hotel have always been lovely when we have met them.

Agreed Jo. Last October they went overboard to look after us. We were heading for the Rainbow next door but just didn't make it because we enjoyed the Marvel so much.

And as for the mozzies, if they like you, you need a complete survival kit like Jen uses. Jungle Strength DEET from Boots from toes to knees, pop sox and sleeves in the evenings, DEET armbands like bracelets. But they have never bitten me in all the time I've spent there. And it's not the alcohol - Jen matches me drink for drink....

Thanks for the report HelB - the Mirage is a wonderful place. Nikos and Angela are typical Arillas hosts, and the welcome is genuine and authentic. We spent two long afternoons there in July only drinking beer and swimming in the pool but we could have been part of the family the way we were treated. We will be back in a couple of weeks time.

Phil
