I need to find my way around this site yet as ive only just joined i am a member of the Agni site and find it very usefull
Just a quick 1 can anyone tll me how far it is to walk on the cliff path to san stef in time and distance also how much are taxis in san stef as we will be bobbing over a couple of times to see Spiros& Maria and young konstantinos at the Voula apparts who we met on our 1st visit to Corfu maria was expecting then we went to see them last year and looking foreward to seeing them again
Tony
Hi Tony welcome to the Arillas site, I cant tell you about taxi fare as we always walk, it takes about 3/4 of an hour depending on weather you use path and road or thr path all the way. I would suggest you walk the path there have a nice meal and then walk back via the road. Ofcourse when you do I suspect you will spend a lot of time still looking at the views, it has been known for it to take us 4 hrs.lol. Viv
hello tony, i am sure the mathraki studios are at the end of the road near the start of the cliff path to san stef overlooking the sea (lucky you!) afraid i don't know about taxi's as we usually walk as well, we go by road, well we start off trying to find short cuts, but never manage too!! meander back after having a refreshing drink, and you don't mind how long it takes (i always have to visit teresa's jewellery shop as well!!)

Hi Tony,
Glad to hear of another 'deserter' from San Stephanos! It's amazing how many people visit Arillas for the day, fall in love with it and return the following year. :-)
You will have no problem with the Mathraki which is in a great location and run by a lovely family. Also you are right on track for the shortcut to and from San Steph. Do a search on this forum to find all the posts I've made about the Mathraki!
I've made up a document detailing a little shortcut to San Steph which I will email to you.
Eileen.
Hi Eileen... I wouldnt mind the shortcut map as well please. Any chance you can pm one to . I can print it out then and we wont get lost or trespass like we did last year! LOl... sue x
Hi Sue,
I have to go out shortly and I'm running late but I will email it to you when I have more time tonight.
Eileenxx
Thanks eileen!
Wow what a brilliant and quick response to my post i can see me being logged onto this site nearly every day until i go lol a big thank you to your replies PS Eileen i know your face are you a member on the Taverna agni website ?
Tony
I think you'll like Mathraki especially if you're tech minded. Our local computer whizz kid Akis is resident there. The man who played a major part in setting up the webcam and who did our Sky dish and receiver.
He has a website which I think is advertised on the main page of the Forum. I went there today to try and get a couple of pics for you but it was difficult to hold the camera whilst trying to fend his large dog away from my left leg, which for some reason he was attracted to. Have a good hol.

Sorry Eileen....I suspect you running late is my fault after our natter. Will keep in touch. Love Sandy x
Welcome Tony.
Quotei can see me being logged onto this site nearly every day until i go lol
You're right there! Jen and I only found it a few days before we stayed last week of October last year, and in 6 months have notched up all but 8 days logged in (200 hours!) It's a fantastic forum (to put up with me to start with!) but seriously, you can get hold of up to date and detailed local information very quickly.
We always use a taxi for San Stef - only a few euros - because Jen can't walk that far. Mathraki get very good reports on here - you'll enjoy.
best wishes
Phil
Tony, yes it's the same avatar/mugshot as on the Agni Forum.
I enjoyed looking through your photos, what an interesting and varied collection. :-)
O.K I'm off to send that email now.
Eileen.
Thanks Eileen looking forward to it i,m in the Arillas chatroom at the mo
Tony
Welcome to the forum
Have a wonderful holiday
Hi Tony
We stayed at the Mathraki last September. The studio was typical for greece (basic but very clean) with a few homely touches. Hope you enjoy your stay. We did & will be back there again in May. We've attached a photo of the pool taken from the balcony walkway outside our studio door.

Wow that looks really nice from that pic.
Every time i passed it did not look like that from outside.
That place in the background is derelict (no)?
riggers...

Yeah, we were there for the last two weeks.
I shall take more notice this year of Mathraki, it looks very nice
Hi Folks my daughter has just decided that she wants to come to Arillas with us but looking through the travel agents web sites the cheapest i can find was £1850 for 2 adults and 2 children 2 weeks from the 15th of august which is really more than they can afford
1 week came out even dearer the flights would have to be from leeds or manchester any info appreciated thanks
Tony
Hi Tony,
I had a quick check and the package holidays are looking expensive.
http://www.olympicholidays.com/ are showing flight only with a choice of departure times from £1129 for 4 passengers.
http://www.annastudios-arillas.com/ is showing an excellent price for August...£500 for 2 weeks. The studios at Anna's very spacious, certainly the largest studios I've ever stayed in. You do have a taxi transfer on top of 50 euros each way, but all in all it is still a saving of approx' £142 on your price of £1850.
Also angela01 has posted even better prices on this forum.
PRICES FOR JULY..ANGELA APR/NS
4 PERSONS PER WEEK 300 EURO
4 PERSONS PER 2 WEEKS 580 EURO.
AND VILLA MARIA-STAMATIS
2 PERSONS PER WEEK 210 EURO
2 PERSONS PER 2 WEEKS 390 EURO
Contact Angela here... agros2@otenet.gr
I'm sure Eggy posted photos of the apartments somewhere on the forum.
Good luck,
Eileenx
Sometimes we have found that if you go on Teletext holidays.. phone some of the companies on the site. They have a way of getting into the system and finding the best deals much easier than we can. Might be worth a try.
Hi Tony.
Echoing Eileen, Annas Studios are perfect. We're staying there in July, and hopefully all of September. (Another story we might one day be able to tell you all about September.)
She is situated well up the hill, after "the cake shop," but ideally situated for San Stef and Arillas itself. We've stayed even further up and always call in for a beer or three on our way "down the hill" (that's us, it's all downhill....)
Seriously though, mid August is the most expensive you can get wherever you go. I've been a teacher for 20 years, and this is my last one thank heaven. We can never go in the cheaper times and tour operators double the prices in half term, let alone summer holidays.
What we do is keep bashing away at the net, teletext, travel agents etc till we get a price we can live with. Packages are fixed but out of season can become stupidly low priced - last October our week on Thomson at the Kaloudis was less than the cheapest flight. Not likely in August though.
Wish you luck. Keep visiting the websites, phoning the numbers on television etc. You might just crack it.
Read the posts on Dimitris wonderful thread "How did you find Arillas." It was just like that we ever found what is now our obsessions and favourite place in the world. A last minute accident. The chepie ha ha
Good luck
Phil
Thanks Eileen & Phil think i'm gonna have to hang on and hope i can get a last minute cancellation i know it will be difficult for 4 people but you never know we just might drop lucky
