I love the photograph from the roof. It will be good to see the new webcam in operation.

When they have finished could they pop to my house because my television aerial was blown off the roof early today, in the storm, and it has smashed two windows in the conservatory.

A great start to the week.

Everything looks very busy in Arillas today, don't you think?
Summer MUST be on the way....

Its good to see the test on the new Cam. I do prefer the view on the first cam though because you can see more detail in the foregroundand the view on the new cam is about 60% sky.. The 10 seconds refresh is good though

The new webcam has been successfully installed!
it is ready for testing at  www.arillas.com/live  (http://www.arillas.com/live)
Our New Webcam !!After having had the camera for a week in Akis workshop  for pre-testing and crash tests.
On Sunday we had I hard day to finish!
I knew it from the morning as Akis would not wake up so we had to use extra help.

We had a nice coffee at the Horizon bar and then we climbed up the roof where we spent the whole afternoon finding a way to install the new camera and configure it on my wireless network from my office to the horizon roof.
we had a nice view but it was windy and we were harpy to have finished at about just before it got dark!

The historical moment made me climb higher and took this picture of Akis and Spiros our Arillas.com IT Freaks They deserve a beer or two where ever you see them, because without them and their advanced computer-network knowledge  we would have never   achieved to run any webcam in Arillas.

of course a big thank you to the local businesses who have donated the webcam which I'll refer on the website later.!

Akis and Spiros the drinks are on me in May!

Love to your parents,

It looks like I have two more people to track down in July, Akis and Spiros. Thats drinks for them in July and a good chat for me.

The photographs are really interesting as they show how much equipment was required to carry out the task. I think it would have been Vertigo Reality if I had been on the roof. I am hoping that the room we have in July will be next to the webcam.

Well done lads, and Dimitris.

Must agree, the new webcam is really good and clear but I also agree with Terry, I would like to see more foreground detail and not so much sky. I mean that as a constructive comment and not a complaint. Well done Dimitris and boys.

Great job well done to all those who contributed and those brave boys on the roof,I have to agree with both Terry and Paul a bit more tweeking may be needed as I too enjoyed the foreground of the first web cam...just like to see whats going on and spotting Eggy's pug now and again.

Now that the web cam has been "tweeked" the picture is great. Sat here looking while it's pouring outside. I know where I would like to be right now.

Thank you very much!!!
you feedback is very important to us!
I have set the webcam in that way because the statistics of  the average Internet user -potential visitor - arillasaddict-  etc. is actually looking for the current weather conditions, a bit of beach-front and imagination  that it could be him/her beeng there.
This is the philosophy of Arillas webcam.
The image is also used by the National Greek TV (http://menoumellada.ert.gr) on a daily basis for a program about tourism and culture.
It could be easy to put the cam to show the main road of Arillas but then we would have to cope with the data protection laws and  other personal and legal believes about privacy etc. which is something that I personaly don't want to deal with.
Have a nice Sunday

Dimitris

I too just want to add my 'thanks' & congratulations to all involved in the new-look webcam.

I'm sure like many other Forum members - clicking onto it is something that becomes second nature to us & I know that I look at it (on average) about two to three times a day.
I do this for all sorts of reasons, the weather, to remind myself how beautiful it is, to cheer myself up (when I look at the alternative here!), to tell myself that in a couple of months I'll actually be back again & for sheer pleasure!

Before we came to Arillas I knew next to nothing of it & my first experience was through the website & of course the webcam which in many ways sealed the deal.
I was so impressed with the images, the way it was put together & the helpful suggestions & good nature/humour of other Forum members - & as a result, we're making our second trip in less than 7 months!

I very much agree Dimitris, that if someone was browsing & stumbled across the Arillas website, it's the best way to gain an insight to the area & the information & webcam images do just that - & would melt anyones heart & persuade them to visit!

Thank you, thank you, thank you - I love it!

Becky B.

Hi  Dimitris

The new webcam is special. The old one was too............

Did you mean that Greek National TV was watching Arillas every day? Know we're famous but Oprah, Esther, Jerry, Trisha, Jeremy etc etc (ask Eggy for explanation!) couldn't market Arillas better than you.

Once an Arillas Addict, always an Arillas Addict!

bebis name soon? Jen and me can't wait to know!

love

I really like the new position of the webcam. The sunsets are going to be spectacular from that position, and the end of the pier is the ideal place to wave at the webcam. Maybe we should all take a banner with us and try to get shots of it on the cam.

It looks like it was a nice day to go on the roof of the Horizon.

Thanks Dimitris

Is the old cam still working? I could see these two cam views today. It looks like the old cam is laying on the foof of the horizon. The same van is in view so they must be both live.
