This is a really useful web site for weather details for both the UK and for Corfu or for anywhere else in the world.... http://www.weatherbonk.com
It shows average weather data, current weather with current cloud etc. You can define a route ie London to Corfu and it will show weather conditions en route.
If you type in Corfu it goes to the USA town so use Kerkira.
Here is a view for Corfu
http://www.weatherbonk.com/weather/summary.jsp?where=Kerkira.&_id=&_className=weathermaps.weather.user.WeatherRequest
There are also webcam locations.
That is a good link Terry. And there on the left under Display is the option to change it into degrees if you don't understand Farenheit like me. I was brought up metric :)
Showing your youth there EEG....or our age!
Terry when I read the name of the weather site I thought it was a weather station to check the forecast for your 'outdoor activities' under the olive trees! ;-)

LOL Eileen - I don't know where the 'bonk' bit comes from, but there are sister sites for golfbonk, skibonk and campbonk.

Terry thank you, thank you , thank you - a marvelous website, and just at the right time for me. Am doing "weather around the world" with the kids for their topic and they have chosen different part of the world. they can find a 5 day forecast, but they are struggling to find annual weather so they can say when the best times of the year to travel are. You have answered their prayers, thanks.

Why thank you Sandy! No, it is due to the simple fact that Finland has always been metric and althought I have lived in the Old Blighty for over 20 years, I never learned the pounds and ounces, but I have mastered the Pint :)
You mean you are old after all EEG?!

Cheers Terry!
Just visited the weather site, it's very good!
Just added it to my bookmarks for future reference. It's much easier to use than the 'usual' weather sites and it's Mac friendly!
Must be great to know what you are doing with computers as you seem to come up with great ideas, music and all sorts of info. Keep up the good work!
Martin.
Thanks Martin,
I like to pass on information, because if just one person can gain some extra knowledge or be helped with a problem, it is worth it. I am a bit of a worrier and I would hate to come across as a "know it all".
I will be the first person to ask for help or advise if I need it and my early days on this forum were rewarded with lots of help for my first visit to Arillas.
I just love this forum as well.
Terry nobody would think you're a know it all. You are great for giving us all this info and very funny postings.

This is a bit of an experiment, because I want to see if the image changes.
What does make you believe that it would change?
it is only a jpg image file!
A gif File would do that.
Nice try Terry but but I guess the original animation is done with Javascript (javascript cannot be included in a post!).
Not an animated gif etc. Keep trying :)
It could have changed because the link is to a JPG file called "last_im.JPG". This means that the photograph is over written each time there is an update. The file still retains its file name and hence the picture should change.
Well that was the theory, and it did work on the currency graph.
Terry your right that will work (when the source image changes, once a day? and you refresh this page), but why?.
Probably it is best practice to provide a link to the page http://www.crati.it/anim_sat.htm
because at the mo every time this forum page is opened the image is pulled from their server increasing their bandwidth
(without visiting there site) which they might have to pay for or if this was a very busy
forum we could over run their allowed bandwidth, not likely but there is a possibility!.
Also is there any copyright on these images????.
OR find out where they retrieve their source images and write a script and put it on arillas.com????
Its actually a series of 7 images
last_im-6.JPG, last_im-5.JPG, last_im-4.JPG, last_im-3.JPG, last_im-2.JPG, last_im-1.JPG, last_im.JPG
run by a javascript slideshow!.
The images are on their server BUT how they get them from http://www.eumetsat.int/Home/index.htm I cant see!!!.
maybe a subscription is required?? (copyright?) and some ftp/email service is provided, I think it is the old Meteosat site?.
I haven't got the time to read the info on the page at the mo, kinda busy with other stuff.
OVERLOAD :)
enuf tech stuff!!!, I'm drifting off the original thread.
Yammas
Ps. I am no expert so I might be talking out of my ar*e, keep playing because this is where IDEAS come from ;)
