The last 7/14 days I've met a few people who actually look forward to this time of year. They love the little more laid back peace and quiet and are not too bothered by a bit or rain. All local resorts need this end of season support.
But also, up to the end of September, I met a few people who were worried that a late holiday could see everything closed and restrictions where to eat and shop etc.
Not the case. Last night in a very, very quiet Arillas, where locals seemed to outnumber Tourists, places were still open. There is not enough business for all these Tavernas at this time of year but the dedication to the guest is there until the last guest gets on the coach. Even Olga ( Olgas Travel ) was still open at 9pm to answer or help with any late enquiries. And if they only get one customer all evening then it's been worth it.
It's customer satisfaction at a level Greeks seem to enjoy.
Dimitris ( Arkokal Travel ) pointed out that nearly all businesses are very keen to keep customers happy at this time of year and, if necessary, a Taverna/Restaurant/Hotel are still there should the need require. It's in all there interests as no one wants the season to get "shorter" should people not book because "worried about a deserted resort."
A pity, maybe, that tour ops can't offer very much cheaper packages this time of year to give some of us a second holiday or just to get new bums on seats.

Well Eggyi like your idea of a late holiday at the end of the season think i may give it a whirl next year 2008 you never know you'll be seeing my hideous face again....
i remember my first visit to arillas 10yrs ago and that was a last minute deal and also was the last week of oct ,we had a great time although mostly in the rainbow,we still had great food and drink,i looked last week on the internet and they still want over £250p/p for a week in nafsika departing on the 21st oct i think its over the top and would fill many a apt if they dropped there prices, cos even on a last minute deal they still earn ,....yammas
