Title: Telephone Number List
Post by: TerryW on September 03, 2007, 12:50:15 PM
When I go on holiday I always take telephone numbers with me that I think could be useful. I add them to my Mobile and also print them out and keep a copy in my wallet, in case I need them in an emergency.

Maybe we could compile a list of numbers,on the forum, that would be useful to everyone, or maybe one is available already.

Numbers could be suggested and then someone could update the listing. (see Below)

What do you think?

Thats a really good idea Terry, i must admit i wouldnt know what to do in an emergency, who to phone etc, id just hope i was at the Bardis apartments at the time and i could run to Bobby or Poppy for help, which is silly cos i could be anywhere, so a list would be very helpful, i know id keep a copy.

Brill idea, I have often thought when we are sat on a quad bike or in a jeep in the middle of nowhere, what if ............?  We can print the numbers off and take the list with us.  Really good idea.  Thank you  ; o )

Thanks Kes

I have added the number.

I may have to change the format because I am having problems keeping the list justified in straight columns.

My boss is a bit like that.  As soon as he walks out of the office everyone starts talking and as soon as he walks in it goes quiet. Also I log on when he is out as well.
Luckily for me he does alot of travelling and is on a three week trip, at the moment. Thailand/Aus/NZ/USA.  Hopefully he will need another week off to recover from it ;) ;) haha!

Nice one Kes!!

Going back to the subject  excellent idea.  Hubby left his cash card in the ATM in Sidari earlier this year and had to cancel his card.  Luckily i had mine with me and it had the emergency number on the back.

We always assume that we wont need emergency numbers when we are away but you just never know!

I am a bit of an organised person when on holiday and have everything sorted out like phone numbers etc.  Sometimes when I take a travel book some of the numbers like the British embassies and police and local hospitals are written in the back... Smiffy if you take one of those it might be worth copying them out for Mexico.. you just never know.

For my holidays over the last 4 years I have copied the numbers as a text file on to my MP3 player. At least its a backup if you suddenly find that the battery has gone on your mobile, and you need to make an urgent call from a public phone.

Another thing I do is take photo copies of our passport then if it gets lost we have the numbers etc.  Also if anyone wants it they can have a copy and not the real thing, but I think that is more useful in African countries I have heard...  I was never a Girl Guide or a Scout would you believe... dont even ask what I took with me for our first ever visit to Greece/Turkey for the public loos... you would die laughing. When we got on holiday I found the toilets were much better than the loos in the UK... I might pm you Smiffy!

(sorry to go off topic!)

Thats not fair (Sue). You tell us half a story and then won't tell us the best bit.

I think I can feel a new topic coming on

"What did Blondegirl take on her first to Greece/Turkey for the public loos"?

erm ..... flowers?    Air Freshener?  Toilet seat cover?  Torch?  Pen?

Go on, tell us!!!!!!!

I went to France as a kid with school on a coach trip and they stopped so we could all go to the loo.  Went in the toilet and there was a hole in the ground i couldn't believe it - i haven't been to France since.  I hope the public toilets have improved!!!

Sorry totally gone off the subject.

Here goes as you wont let me get away with it.

My friend said she thought the toilets were going to be awful so she made up these toilet packs..  consisting of wet wipe, tissue paper and......... a toilet cover made out of Tesco carrier bags would you believe..  She cut a circle out with a hole in the middle.  They were all folded up together flat in little clear sandwich bags and she used to slip one in her back pocket when going for walks etc.  The only thing is when you got up you had red and white stripes over your rear...  Now, as I said I did have a go and made a few of these, needless to say I never used them but my family never let me live it down.  Perhaps they could be patented or whatever, sold in the shops  LOL...  very embarrassing tying to explain to people what the carrier bag was for.

That was worth waiting for, brilliant Sue. You described things so well as well.

A Tescos carrier bag will never seem the same again but I suppose A S D A could have been worse.

Sandy I think that myself many a time!!  Would love to be able to spend my day making things out of bits of rubbish but alas not to be!  How's the house going?  Not too long til you're back, will you manage to get to stay in it?
