Title: Uk Summer
Post by: Joe on July 03, 2007, 05:00:32 PM
All airlines pay lots and lots of money to have future weather patterns predicted as much as possible, this helps us work out demand for holidays.

Today we got the predicted forecsasts for the rest of July and August - constant rain, just as it has been in June, maybe a little worse. Time to book another holdiay I think :)

Whatever happened to the long hot summer which was predicted earlier in the year? We must have had it in April......

It will still be hot, just in the damp, warm, muggy way we all love.

It's global warming I tell you!!!

Summer? What's that...?

Yep, I'm afraid it is the dreaded global warming that keeps the high pressure fronts away from here hovering over pacific and just leaves us with a low pressure front after another :(

52 mornings to wake till my summer starts in Arillas :)

Now Joe if this is just another marketing ploy...you know it won't work with us lot... lol...  cos we don't need an excuse to go on holiday. :-)

Hi Joe,

How accurate are these forecasts? Does this mean our British summer is going to be a total wash out.

Thanks

John

About 70% - 80% and which is much more accuarte than say the BBC, basically it's large computers analysing patterns so it is still only a forecast but they are usually right. The further in the future the more chance of error but July looks bad. September in the UK so far is looking very good!

Thanks for that! Moving into the caravan Monday I was hoping for a few weeks of sun! Well at least I know where I will be Tuesday, I bet that keeps the prices up too. Do not get me going on global warming, i know who I blame, gosh it is not rocket science. I am writing this as yet again a big black cloud drops it contents, oh well at least i will get the ironing done!

Don't forget we had an outstanding April (and May?) weatherwise, the seasons are just getting a little confused.

Everyone (especially me!) seems really grumpy at the moment - just wish it would stop raining or warm up a bit.

Joe, you pointing at the new Burger King in your pic??

I think I had just witnessed a skier having a pretty bad "off piste" incident. Being the mature grown up that I am I found it hilarious

We booked our trip to Arillas 9 weeks ago, I can't beleive the prices @ the minute they have shot up. All because of the apalling weather in the UK. Glad we booked ours when we did !

Well the weather yesterday early evening was appalling, there were purple forks of lightning every 10 seconds or so, then huge rumbles of thunder, one was so loud that it shook the nets in our window!!

Then the rain absolutely lashed down and then i couldnt believe what i was seeing, hailstones, yep thats right, little balls of ice pounding the windows, mid July, beautiful!!

That surprises me, Clare, as we only heard a small rumble in the distance, and we aren't that far away, also only a few spots of rain later in the evening.  Dull and grey this morning though!
lynn :(

I think it mustve been just over Romford and surrounding areas, cos when ive come into work this morning a few people who live about 10 or so miles away didnt get nothing but a bit of light rain, very strange weather indeed!!

Grey and dull here this morning too.

I just cant stand it!!!  Mike and I were just saying that we were in Arillas getting ready to enjoy our first meal there - a month ago!  Cant believe it!  It wouldnt be so bad here if the weather was good, the holiday feeling would still go on.

It is pouring with rain at Gatwick right now - its 'orrible!  I feel so sorry for the people in the Worcester area dealing with all this at the moment, no water in their taps but plenty of flood water... its total madness and I hope it doesnt rain so much in the Midlands and that they dont have to go through it all again.

We are having a semi sunny day today in manchester, then it's going to pi...ckle down for rest of 2007!  Yey, roll on Arillas in September.  Anybody live near Stratford, Long Marston area?  My son is going to the Global Gathering music festival for the weekend on friday, he doesn't know whether to take a tent or a dinghy!  What's the flooding like down there? anybody know.
